This repost is being made for several reasons, first Ticiana has reported that it was dead, thanks Ticiana, second it is very early and perhaps many Loronixers did not notice, third it is a great Raul de Souza album. The last one deserves a paragraph.
Raul de Souza - Colors (1976) came to attention of ►Perimetric on June 05 and since then Loronix starts growing and became popular through this nice post by ►Perimetric, as you can see the screen capture below. The screen capture is only an example, take a time to visit Perimetric, now with a new design an always beautiful, here.
Thanks ►Perimetric. Let's stay with Raul de Souza, the new link and this amazing cover, which is another reason that makes this post very special.

Grupo Medusa - Grupo Medusa (1981)
Let's keep the week configuration starting with another legendary instrumental band from the 80's. If you are used with the series that started with Sexteto do Beco and was followed by Grupo D'Alma, have a seat because this is the one zecalouro like most.
Meet Grupo Medusa - Grupo Medusa (1981), in spite this cover, a great Brazilian jazz fusion album, "blessed" by Hermeto Pascoal that wrote a message on linear notes giving his personal recommendation to Grupo Medusa, formed by renowned Brazilian musicians that you probably know, as follows: Amilson Godoy (piano and clavinet), Chico Medori (drums and percussion), Claudio Bertrami (bass), Heraldo do Monte (guitar, acoustic guitar and bandolim) and the guest percussionists Theo da Cuica and Jorginho Cebion. Tracks include:
01 - Baiana (Cláudio Bertrami)
02 - Zeby (Cláudio Bertrami)
03 - Caminhos (Cláudio Bertrami)
04 - Medusa (Chico Medori)
05 - Pé no Chão (Chico Medori)
06 - Asa Delta (Cláudio Bertrami / Chico Medori)
07 - Uma Viagem (Cláudio Bertrami / Chico Medori)
08 - Ponto de Fusão (Cláudio Bertrami)

Moacyr Silva, Orquestra e Coro - E Tempo de Samba Nr. 2 (1965)
Woow! Sometimes even zecalouro gets surprised with the grabbing he does inside his bag. Thanks to Rapidshare outage, that made him dig the deepest bottom of his ark to find this lost gem.
We had the chance to hear Moacyr Silva on several posts before, especially those two great albums he made with Elizeth Cardoso, the Sax e Voz volume 1 and 2 series. This is the first Moacyr Silva solo LP and I confess that I amazed with it.
Moacyr Silva, Orquestra e Coro - E Tempo de Samba Nr. 2 (1965), it is a nice instrumental album with the swinging sax in the hands of Moacyr dueling with the orchestra accompaniment in the rhythm of Samba. I will save your precious time, this LP speaks by itself. There is nothing to add here, it is truly amazing. Tracks include:
01 - Tema Pra Dedé (Nelsinho) -- Tamanco no Samba (Orlann Divo / Hélton Menezes)
02 - Esperando (Marconi Campos da Silva / Hilton Accioli) -- Morreu Num Beijo (João Roberto Kelly / Osvaldo Morais)
03 - Chora Tua Tristeza (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini) -- Onde Estava Eu (Armando Cavalcanti / Victor Freire)
04 - Tudo de Mim (Evaldo Gouveia / Jair Amorim) -- Quando Ela Se Foi (Moacyr Silva / Antônio Maria)
05 - Sambadinho (Orlann Divo / Roberto Jorge) -- Zé da Conceição (João Roberto Kelly)
06 - Amor de Ilusão (Edu Lobo) -- A Mesma Rosa Amarela (Capiba / Carlos Penna Filho)
07 - Fio de Canção (Luis Antônio) -- Está Nascendo Um Samba (Tito Madi / Romeo Nunes)
08 - Um Pouco de Você (Moacyr Silva / Joluz) -- Desenhei Corações (Collid Filho / Oldemar Magalhães)
09 - Eu Chorei (Edmundo Maciel) -- Samba de Uma Saudade (Jean Pierre / Joluz)
10 - Samba Internacional (Sidney Morais) -- Produto Nacional (Geraldo Barbosa / Geraldo Wesper)
11 - A História Não Mudou (Alcyr Pires Vermelho / Nazareno de Brito) -- Recordação de Um Amor (Ieddo Gouveia / Rubio Silva / Wilson Medeiros)
12 - Pelo Bem Que Eu Te Quero (Otávio Filho) -- É Só Querer (Álvaro Xavier)

Maestro Guerra Peixe - A Grande Musica do Brasil - A Grande Musica de Tom Jobim (1978)
A little announcement to RapidShare users: today was probably a weird day for bloggers. Rapidshare was not accepting uploads, displaying this message all day long: Unfortunately all drives of RapidShare.de are full right now.
I was wondering with friends that it is amazing a company like this is running out of disk space. However, reading this persistent message again, I could see that (...) all drives of RapidShare.de are full (...), pay a close attention to the Rapidshare.de. So I decided to try on Rapidshare.com. Bingo! Rapidshare folks decided to freeze the existent infrastructure at .de to start again with new features on Rapidshare.com.
Why did they not make it clear? So, if you are a Loronixer that uses to upload files to Rapidshare.de to zecalouro, please point your browser to the new Rapidshare.com. Period.
Back to business: Let's take advantage of the classical mood of the last Zimbo Trio release with this a nice LP from a 70's collection titled A Grande Musica do Brasil, where Brazilian Maestros were invited to create orchestral arrangements of selected composers repertoire.
This is the number three, guess who? Antonio Carlos Jobim, with arrangements of the Maestro Guerra Peixe. Released in 1978, this is probably the last record made by Guerra Peixe, which is something that requires additional checking. Tracks include:
01 - Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Insensatez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Águas de Março (Tom Jobim)
06 - Desafinado (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
07 - Corcovado (Tom Jobim) -- Vou Te Contar (Tom Jobim)
08 - Chovendo na Roseira (Tom Jobim) -- Olha Maria Olha Maria (Tom Jobim / Chico Buarque / Vinicius de Moraes)

Carlos Lyra - Gravado no Mexico (1968)
After a long time, Carlos Lyra is back to Loronix with a record that was recommended by Jim, a friend of Loronix and a collector of Brazilian music from the US. This LP, Carlos Lyra - Gravado no Mexico (1968) for Capitol is from the time that Carlos Lyra has lived in Mexico. We had a previous and very popular Carlos Lyra release recorded also in Mexico, Sarava. Check the previous posts using the archive menu at the right side bar to find this record, which I strongly recommend.
Gravado no Mexico has several popular Carlos Lyra songs, such as Maria Ninguem (a zecalouro favorite), Lobo Bobo, Influencia do Jazz, among others. Carlos Lyra had the accompaniement of Conjunto Jazztet, which is probably from Mexico and is also in charge arrangements and musical direction. Tracks include:
01 - Maria Ninguém (Carlos Lyra)
02 - Influência do Jazz (Carlos Lyra)
03 - Canção Que Morre no Ar (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
04 - Gostar Ou Não Gostar (Carlos Lyra)
05 - Primavera (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Marcha da Quarta-feira de Cinzas (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Você e Eu (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Lobo Bobo (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
09 - Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - Aruanda (Carlos Lyra / Geraldo Vandré)
11 - Coisa Mais Linda (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 - Maria Moita (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
13 - Lamento de Um Homem Só (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
14 - Quem Quizer Encontrar o Amor (Carlos Lyra / Geraldo Vandré)

Grupo D'Alma - D'Alma (1981)
I have been trying to start the day with instrumental LPs released independently or by small labels. These records are from the late 70's and 80's, at most cases from bands that released one or two albums and their members could sustain a solo career after dismissing.
This is the case of Grupo D'Alma, presented here with Grupo D'Alma - D'Alma (1981) released for Som da Gente. Grupo D'Alma is a trio, formed by André Geraissati, Ruy Saleme and Ulisses Rocha. Their influence is noted by AMG, whose bio is included below:
The Grupo D'Alma had a short life, but became considerably influential in Brazilian jazz and instrumental music. It was formed in the late '70s as a trio of virtuosic acoustic guitarists and at different times the formations included André Geraissaiti, Ulisses Rocha, Rui Saleme, Mozart Melo, and Cândido Penteado. The first album's title (A Quem Interessar Possa 1979) made clear the band's need to express their inner feelings about the craft of music-making with disregard for commercial considerations. D'Alma (1981) opened way for the International Jazz Festival of São Paulo (1982). The trio also performed in the Free Jazz Festival in 1986 and recorded their last album before the dissolution.
Tracks:
01 - Beije-me Garota (Ruy Saleme)
02 - Maria Tereza (Ulisses Rocha)
03 - Pra Juca (André Geraissati)
04 - Surpresa (Ruy Saleme)
05 - Um Dia de Chuva (Ulisses Rocha)
06 - Lagoa Silenciosa (André Geraissati)
07 - Nova (Ruy Saleme)
08 - Céu Aberto (André Geraissati)
09 - Tudo Certo (Ulisses Rocha)
10 - Super Relax (Ruy Saleme)
11 - Boa Noite (André Geraissati)
12 - Karatê (Egberto Gismonti)

Zimbo Trio - Opus-Pop - Zimbo e Orquestra - Clássicos com Bossa (1972)
I was getting used to the idea of never see, hear or touch this LP, since it is so hard to find and it is rarely available at old vinyl stores and auction sites. But zecalouro needs to understand that Loronix is getting new friends everyday and some last minutes new gems can appear by surprise.
This is exactly what happened with this record when a single email message from Ticiana was sleeping at my mailbox this morning with instructions to this LP. Thanks Ticiana, you made my day and the day of several Loronixers. How did you guess that I was tracking this LP down?
Anyway, Zimbo Trio - Opus-Pop - Zimbo e Orquestra - Clássicos com Bossa (1972) is the first LP out of a series of two where Zimbo Trio accompanied by an orchestra make his reading of classical repertoire with Zimbo versions of Bach, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Villa-Lobos, Brahms and others. Unfortunately, the linear notes do not bring additional information on the orchestra arrangements and musicians. There is more to come from this Zimbo on Classics, the Volume 2 from 1973 is on the way. Stay tuned. Tracks include:
01 - Scheherazade (Rimsky / Korsakov)
02 - 9ª Sinfonia (Ludwig Van Beethoven)
03 - Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte (Maurice Ravel)
04 - Ária Para Corda Sol (Johann Sebastian Bach)
05 - "Primavera" das 4 Estações (Vivaldi)
06 - Prelúdio Nº 2 (Johann Sebastian Bach)
07 - Lago dos Cisnes (Tchaikovsky)
08 - Bachianas Brasileiras Nº 5 "Cantilenas" (Villa-Lobos)
09 - Pavane (Fauré)
10 - Sinfonia Nº 40 (W. A. Mozart)

Sivuca - Rendez-vous a Rio Nr. 2 (1965)
Everybody likes Sivuca. I cannot remember how long it was the last Sivuca post, but I can remember it was a record with Putte Wickman, which became one of Loronix favorites.
This is Sivuca - Rendez-Vous a Rio Nr. 2 (1965), released for Barclay 920105 while Sivuca fixed residence in Paris from a short period. During this stay in Paris, Sivuca has assembled a group, Brasilia Ritmos, with Waldir Azevedo as a member. Brasilia Ritmos LPs are really hard to find, I have been trying to get one for months. Perhaps someday with the help of Loronixers we can make it...
Rendez-vous Nr. 2 personnel is Sivuca (acordion, piano and arrangements), Claude Civelli (flute), Bill Tamper (trombone), Ney de Castro (drums), Dimas Sedicas and Silvio Silveira (percussion), Nestor Campus (acoustic guitar), Marcel Harsko (clarinet) and Alphonse Masselier (bass), tracks include:
01 - Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
02 - Fala Amor (Djalma Ferreira / Luis Antônio)
03 - Não Me Diga Adeus (Paquito / Luis Soberano / João Correia da Silva)
04 - Deixe o Breque Pra Mim (Altamiro Carrilho)
05 - Maria Ninguém (Carlos Lyra)
06 - Recado (Djalma Ferreira)
07 - Sempre (K-Ximbinho)
08 - Tico-tico (No Fubá) (Oscar Brown Jr. / Jean Pace)

The Pan American Orchestra - Big Band, Big Voices, Bossa Nova (1963)
Let's make a great start today, a special day that will end with an amazing post that is probably one of the most wanted records of a great instrumental trio.
This is The Pan America Orchestra - Big Band, Big Voices, Bossa Nova (1963) by Musidisc. Once again, a very hard to find LP that is even unavailable at major auction websites. This is to fulfill a request of a Loronix friend of Portugal, which is since now invited to tell us more about The Pan American Orchestra.
Big Band, Big Voices, Bossa Nova, mix orchestra arrangements with Samba percussion with tamborim and pandeiro on top of the rhythm section, enjoyable. Tracks include:
01 - Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Brigas Nunca Mais (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Samba Maravilhoso (José Toledo / Jean Manzon)
04 - Pode Implorar (Nilo Sergio / Sebastião Fonseca)
05 - Over The Rainbow (Harold Arlen / E. Y. Harburg)
06 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Apito no Samba (Luis Bandeira)
08 - É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
09 - I Cried For You (A. Freed / A. Lyman / G. Arnhein)
10 - Granada (Agustin Lara)

Wilson das Neves e Conjunto - O Som Quente e o das Neves (1976)
This is a great Wilson das Neves LP that I tought I did not have it but was here with me for a long time. Perhaps I need to change my index from text - directory listing - to thumbnails. Wilson das Neves e Conjunto - O Som Quente e o das Neves (1976). The only difference from the last one that is available at Loronix from 1969 is the letter O at the start of the LP name.
The previous release was Wilson das Neves e Conjunto - Som Quente e o das Neves (1969). I want to say sorry for many friend of Loronix that have been requesting this LP for months and I was giving no hope. Tracks include:

Celly Campello - Broto Certinho (1960)
Rato, is the tireless owner of Rato Records Blog, one of the best music blogs ever, from Portugal. Rato delivers unique Rato's compilations, so good ones that seems that Rato is a record label, not a musical blog.
It is not easy to get Rato by surprise, but a couple of minutes ago, he asked on comments the availability of a series of five records released by Celly Campello for Odeon between 1969 and 1970. I'm not a big fan of Celly Campello, but Rato's request should never be bypassed. There goes zecalouro...
Rato was right, I'm surprised with these records. Celly Campello had everything that Odeon could made available for her. So I decided to show you why, this is Celly Campello - Broto Certinho (1960), with Regency and arrangements of tracks 01, 02 and 10 of Luiz Arruda Paes e sua Orquestra. The remaining tracks arranged and performed by Mario Gennari Filho e Seu Conjunto. The backing vocals are from The Playings aka Os Titulares do Ritmo.
Brotinho Certinho is a cool record that you should listen without any kind of previous evaluation of a rock'n'roll or Jovem Guarda LP. Tracks include:
01 - Broto Certinho (One Woman Man) (Greenfield / Vrs. Fred Jorge)

Fred Jorge)
02 - Billy (Archey / Vrs. Fred Jorge)
03 - To Know Him Is To Love Him (Spector)
04 - Querida Mamãe (Dear Mom And Dad) (Slay Jr. / Crews / Vrs. Fred Jorge)

Turquinho e Seu Conjunto - Samba de Bossa (1963)
We have a nice release here, an artist that never had a solo LP at Loronix, just appearing as sideman on several records. This is Turquinho e seu Conjunto - Samba de Bossa (1963), for Chantecler. Rezala José aka Turquinho is a drummer that released just a few records but influenced several renowned Brazilian musicians, taking part on many bands such like Sambossa 5 and Hector Costita Sexteto, among others.
I have been trying to gather additional information about Turquinho, but I did not find much. Please take a time to make your own research on Turquinho and write us on comments section. Tracks include:
01 - Céu e Mar (Johnny Alf)
02 - Barquinho (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
03 - Meditação (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)

Sexteto do Beco - Sexteto do Beco (1980)
This is the LP from the Brazilian instrumental band Sexteto do Beco, released independently in 1980 and now a very hard to find vinyl pursuit worldwide by collectors.
Three students of a University in Bahia from Brazil Northeast, Bahia State, found Sexteto do Beco. Actually, Sexteto do Beco has 18 members, but started as a sextet and kept the name until the end. They released only this self-titled LP, recorded and mixed in only eight days. Take this as one of the legendary albuns of Brazilian instrumental music.
Sexteto do Beco is Aderbal Duarte e Thomas Gruetz (acoustic guitar - Ovation), Antônio Sarquis (bass), Guilherme Maia (electric bass), Zeca Freitas (electric piano), Guillermo Migoya (drums), Francisco Cabral (percussion), Andrea Daltro (voice), Sergio Souto, Oscar Dourado, Paulo Andrade, Samuel Motta and Paulo Bento (flute), Marco Esteves (sax), Tuzé de Abreu (sax), Valéu Cerqueira (sax), Juraci Pereira (trumpet) and Gerson Barbosa (trombone). Tracks include:
01 - Flutuando (Aderbal Duarte)
02 - Siamass (Thomas Gruetz)
03 - Kiua (Sergio Souto)
04 - Suíte 312 (Aderbal Duarte)
05 - Águas Cristalinas (Samuel Motta)

07 - Um Segundo (Antônio Sarquis)
08 - Cantilena (Aderbal Duarte)

Elis Regina - Viva a Brotolandia (1961)
Elis Regina - Viva a Brotolandia (1961) is Elis Regina debut LP, recorded with an early Elis with only 16 years old. We need to check, but I heard before that Elis did not consider this LP as "valid", since she was very young and immature as a singer.
Several Loronixers were requesting this post. Viva a Brotolandia has the late 50's flavor with Severino Filho Orquestra. Let's see how Elis gets along with a recording session at the age of sixteen. Tracks include:
01 - Dá Sorte (Eleu Salvador)
02 - Sonhando (Dream) (B. Vorzon / Ellis / Vrs. Juvenal Fernandes)
03 - Murmúrio (Luis Antônio / Djalma Ferreira)
04 - Tu Serás (Ângela Martignoni / Othon Russo)
05 - Samba Feito Para Mim (Paulo Tito)
06 - Fala-me de Amor (Take Me In Your Arms) (Markus / Rotter / Vrs. Max Gold)
07 - Baby Face (Davis / Akst / Vrs. Fred Jorge)
08 - Dor de Cotovelo (João Roberto Kelly)
09 - Garoto Último Tipo (Puppy Love) (Paul Anka / Vrs. Fred Jorge)
10 - As Coisas Que Eu Gosto (My Favorite) (Rodgers / O. Hammerstein II / Vrs. Fernando César)

Dois e Ela - Dois e Ela (1966)
I guess this is the first and the only Samba Jazz Trio with a girl and two guys, Dois e Ela - Dois e Ela (1966) for Farroupilha as LPFA-416. Probably you are thinking that zecalouro is presenting this record only because there is a girl in the middle of a trio in the 60's.
You are 50% right since they also make very good music. I don't know what was the outcome after this first LP since there is no more recording available at discographies I had the chance to search, neither what happened with Maria Inês Correia de Oliveira (piano), João Rodrigues Ariza "Chumbinho" (drums) and Francisco Esteves "Chiquinho" (bass), which is Dois e Ela. Tracks include:
01 - Formosa (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Chegança (Edu Lobo / Oduvaldo Viana Filho)
03 - É Demais Sonhar Você (Adilson Godoy)
04 - Enquanto a Tristeza Não Vem (Sergio Ricardo)

10 - Demais (D. Duran)
11 - Gente (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)

Helena de Lima - Uma Noite no Drink (1969)
I'm a big fan of stories, photos and everything about the nightclubs from Rio de Janeiro in the 50's to 60's. Why not post the music performed on these nightclubs? Yesterday we had the chance to know Sacha, the pianist and owner of Sacha's, a nightclub at Leme - were I had the chance to live for some years on an apartment at the same building of Sacha's - that lasts until the late 90's.
Let's take from this time another live performance on a nightclub, the legendary Drink. Meet Helena de Lima - Uma Noite no Drink (1969). Helena de Lima performs here that traditional pout-porri with Noel Rosa compositions and additional eleven tracks, selected from the most popular Samba-Cancao tunes of that time. Tracks include:
01 - Conversa de Botequim (Noel Rosa / Vadico) -- Com Que Roupa (Noel Rosa) -- Não Tem Tradução (Noel Rosa) -- Três Apitos (Noel Rosa) -- Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico) -- Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa) -- Feitio de Oração (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
02 - Atende Amor (Helena de Lima / Eny de Oliveira)
03 - Leva Meu Samba (Ataulfo Alves)
04 - Sim Ou Não (Luis Bandeira)
05 - Samba do Preto Forro (João Laurindo / Oldemar Magalhães)
06 - Quero Abrir Meus Braços (Paulo Soledade)
07 - Eu Te Amo (Ribamar (1) / Romeo Nunes)
08 - Gosto de Gostar de Você (Helena de Lima / Eny de Oliveira)
09 - Monumento (Silvio Silva / Fernando César)
10 - Ai Amor (Paulo Soledade)
11 - Volta Amanhã (Fernando César / Mariah Brito)
12 - Nós Sem Amanhã (Luis Antônio)

Beto Guedes, Danilo Caymmi, Novelli e Toninho Horta - Beto Guedes / Danilo Caymmi / Novelli / Toninho Horta (1973)
I could never imagine that a simple icon for sending large files would open up a new communication channel with Loronixers. This is another contribution of Max de Castro, which said Loronixers would be pleased to hear one of the best records ever made in Brazil. I agree. Recorded in 1973, by Beto Guedes, Danillo Caymmi, Novelli and Toninho Horta, this LP brings also major Brazilian musicians from the 70's, as follows:
Beto Guedes, Flavio Venturini, Frederiko, Lô Borges, Mauricio Maestro, Novelli, Toninho Horta, Vermelho, Danilo Caymmi, Fernando Leporace, Lena Horta, Nelson Angelo, Robertinho Silva, Tenorio Jr., Everaldo Ferreira, Paulo Guimaraes and Paulo Jobim.
Personnel information is so complex that you will stay better visiting the awesome discography of Maria Luiza Kfouri at Discos do Brasil, with detailed information on this LP personnel, here.
It is very hard to review and write about this LP on a meaningful way, so I invite you to check tracks and make a try.
01 - Caso Você Queira Saber (Beto Guedes / Márcio Borges)
02 - Meu Canário Vizinho Azul (Toninho Horta)
03 - Viva Eu (Wagner Tiso / Novelli)
04 - Belo Horror (Beto Guedes / Flávio Hugo / José Geraldo / Márcio Borges)
05 - Ponta Negra (Danilo Caymmi / José Carlos Pádua)
06 - Meio a Meio (Novelli)
07 - Manuel o Audaz (Toninho Horta / Fernando Brant)
08 - Luisa (Novelli)
09 - Serra do Mar (Danilo Caymmi / Ronaldo Bastos)

Baden Powell - Baden, Marcia, Os Originais do Samba - Show Recital (1968)
Baden Powell is one of Loronix favorites; his discography is huge in terms of numbers of albums released. I have been trying to bring to Loronix only the records that have demand from you and also those ones who have something unique to show. This LP follows the second category.
Meet Baden Powell - Baden, Marcia, Os Originais do Samba - Show Recital (1968), recorded live at Teatro Bela Vista, Brazil. Here we have Baden Powell Quartet, accompanied by the singer Marcia and the percussion group Os Originais do Samba.
On side A, Baden plays and sings for the first time some compositions that would be played by him several times in the future. There is also an unique version of Berimbau that sounds different from the ones he would play several times in the following decades. On side B, Marcia and Os Originais do Samba enter the scene and the real fun start with Marcia female voice and Os Originais do Samba percussion.
Baden Powell Quartet is Baden Powell (guitar and vocals),
Ernesto Ribeiro Goncalves (bass), Helio Schiavo (drums), Alfredo Bessa (percussion and vocal) and Manoelzinho (flute). Os Originais do Samba is Bigode (pandeiro), Lelei (tamborim), Rubens (surdo), Chiquinho (agogo), Mussum (reco-reco) and Zeca (cuica). Tracks include:
01 - Vento Vadio (Baden Powell)
02 - Marcha Escocesa (Baden Powell)
03 - Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / João de Barro)
04 - Valsa de Eurídice (Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Berimbau (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Canto do Caboclo Pedra Preta (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Só Por Amor (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Apelo (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 - Samba da Bênção (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)

Sacha - Sacha no Sacha's (1958)
Let's think about Casablanca, the movie with Humphrey Bogart. Humphrey Bogart, Rick at Casablanca was the owner of a nightclub Rick's America in Cafe. Rick was in Africa, in the middle of World War II, and his club was a neutral territory, Rick had the command, giving orders and running the business with authority.
This LP is about Sacha, an Austrian pianist. Sacha came to Brazil in 1948 and a couple of years later founded his own nightclub, Sacha's. According with some friends of my parents, Sacha was such like Rick, running his nightclub like his own place. The difference - what a big difference - is that Sacha plays his own piano and released some records in the 50's and 60's.
I didn't know this artist existence, thanks to Mr. X. that sent to zecalouro a later Sacha LP and then I could search for more, finding this one. This is Sacha - Sacha no Sacha's (1958), which has a perfect ambience of the old nightclubs in Rio de Janeiro. I'm sure that you will find it interesting. Tracks include:
1. Ses Mains (J. Bateill)
You're Sensational (Cole Porter)
Anema e Core (Manlio)
It's Delovely (Cole Porter)
Beija-me (Roberto Martins / Mário Rossi)
Invitation (B. Kaper)
It's All Right With Me (Cole Porter)
Valsa de Uma Cidade (Antônio Maria / Ismael Netto)
Old Devil Moon-from This Moment On (B. Lane)
Starlight (O. Cesana)
2. "Seleção de My Fair Lady"
I've Got Accustomed To Her Face (F. Loewe)
On The Street Where You Live (F. Loewe)
I Could Have Danced All Night (F. Loewe)
3. Se Acaso Você Chegasse (Lupicínio Rodrigues)
4. Around The World (V. Young / H. Adamson)
5. Parceria (Ismael Netto / Antônio Maria)
6. You Made Me Feel So Young (J. Myrow / M. Gordon)
7. Cabelos Brancos (Herivelto Martins / Marino Pinto)

Miguel de Deus - Black Soul Brothers (1977)
Last Thursday we had the chance to stay with a rare LP from Gerson King Combo, the King of Brazilian Black Movement. Today we open up with the amazing Jorge Ben with Trio Mocoto Live in Japan.
Since then, several requests of Brazilian Black music has been arriving to zecalouro. Among several ones, I decided to pick up what is considered a synthesis of Brazilian Black music from the 70's, the only solo LP released by Miguel de Deus - Black Soul Brothers (1977).
Every collector or fan of the Brazilian Black movement from the 70’s around the world desires this LP. In the last 10 to 15 years, several copies were sold to fans in Europe and Japan, the prices at old vinyl stores and websites has been rising year after year.
Miguel de Deus was active since the mid 60's. He took part as member of some important bands, such as Os Brasoes and Assim e Assado, some kind psychedelic joke based on Secos e Molhados. Miguel de Deus was born in Bahia and now lives in Sao Paulo, I could not check if Miguel de Deus is still active or retired from the scene. Tracks include:
01 - Cinco Anos (Miguel de Deus)
02 - Pedaços (Miguel de Deus)
03 - Mister Funk (Miguel de Deus / Nelsão Triunfo)
04 - Flaca Louca (Miguel de Deus)
05 - Black Soul Brothers (P. Rocco / Santiago)
06 - Lua Cheia (Miguel de Deus)
07 - Pode Se Queimar (Miguel de Deus)
08 - Fábrica de Papéis (Miguel de Deus)
