Today was easy to make the last pick, no much thinking or suffering to decide. It was wise of zecalouro when he established in the beginning of the day that the last post should be from Caetano's collection. The wonderful cover with the blonde girl holding a sax was also of importance. The bossanovadreamer should enjoy it and the many sax players at Loronix as well.
This is Moacyr Marques e Seu Conjunto de Boite - Samba 40 Graus (1961), for Pawal. This is the kind of record that should fit several interests, there are instrumental performances and some songs with lyrics sung by Moacir Marques itself, which is also known as "Biju". Moacyr Marques is sometimes taken by mistake as Moacyr Silva, the names are very similar and their instrument of choice is the same. Moacyr Marques released 6 LPs with O Conjunto de Boate in the early 60's, taking also part on several records from renowned Brazilian artists. Tracks include:
01 - Castiguei (Jorge Costa / Venâncio)
02 - Lamento da Lavadeira (Monsueto / Nilo Chagas / João Violão)
03 - Vivendo e Aprendendo (Ed Lincoln / Silvio César)
04 - Nossos Momentos (Haroldo Barbosa / Luis Reis)
05 - Seu Amor (Silvio Viana)
06 - A Canção Que Virou Você (Luis Antônio)
07 - In The Mood (A. Razef / J. Garlant)
08 - Eu Não (Waldir Calmon / Ely Campos)
09 - Não Sabemos (Rubens Caruso)
10 - Doralice (Antônio Almeida / Dorival Caymmi)
11 - Água de Beber (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 - Na Base do Bem Bom (Moacir Marques "Bijú")

Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto - E Tempo de Bolero (1962)
The bossanovadreamer, official Loronix sax consultant, will be very happy with this LP, perhaps The Jazzman, also. I'm only a little disappointed to do not have the original cover issued in 1962, only this one, reissued a couple of years before. Anyway it is a great record that you will hear several times. Don't let the "Bolero" title cheats you if you do not appreciates the genre, this is just another awesome Moacyr Silva sax LP.
This is Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto - E Tempo de Bolero (1962), for Copacabana, a selection of twelve International standards renditions by Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto, featuring Moacyr Silva (sax), Chaim Lewak (piano), Edson (drums) and Luis Marinho (bass). As you read, Chaim Lewak, the pianist from Quarteto Nostalgia LP, is a member of Moacyr Silva's Conjunto and also makes the difference here. I'm not sure about the drummer, credited as Edson. By the playing style, it is probably the legendary Edison Machado. Anyway, pretty self-explanatory, Moacyr Silva seems to be one of those artists that are unable of deliver a bad record. Tracks include:
Tracks
01 - Stella By Starlight (V. Young / N. Washington)
02 - Laura (D. Raksin / J. Mercer)
03 - Yesterdays (J. Kern / O. Harbach)
04 - Vous Qui Passez Sans Me Voir (Hess / Misraki / Charles Trenet)
05 - Sophisticated Lady (Duke Ellington)
06 - Theme From Picnic (G. Duning)
07 - Tender Is The Night (Paul Francis Webster / S. Fain)
08 - Tenderly (W. Gross / J. Lawrence)
09 - Time On My Hands (V. Youmans / A. Adamson / M. Gordon)
10 - Comme Ci Comme Ça (Coquatrix / Dudan)
11 - September Song (Kurt Weill / Maxwell / Anderson)
12 - Long Ago And Far Away (J. Kern / George Gershwin)

Kaleidoscopio Elenco - Various Artists
It is quite common to receive messages asking a post concentrating "the best of Loronix" or people asking zecalouro to make a short list of "the top ten posts", etc. I have to admit that it is very difficult to make this selection, Loronix has several albums available and I could not pick ten without letting masterpieces out of the list. That's why I decided to release an LP that is very representative of the music we have hear, a selection of Bossa Nova songs from Elenco cast, ideal for starters, those one who never had the chance to know Bossa Nova and wants to make it through a single record.
This is Kaleidoscopio Elenco - Various Artists (no date), the best of Elenco cast from the 60's, featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sylvia Telles, Vinicius de Moraes, Nara Leao, Roberto Menescal, Lennie Dale, Maysa, Sergio Ricardo, Baden Powell, Lucio Alves, Odette Lara and Chris Connor. Tracks include:

Sexteto Electronico Moderno - Sounds from the Elegant World, Groovy Night Club Music from Uruguay (1968)
Hello, Good night! Yesterday, I had the chance to show Loronixers a great record from two Uruguain musicians that had a great reception, Hugo y Osvaldo - La Bossa Nova de Hugo y Osvaldo. Several friends gave great feedback on it, making comments and adding complimentary information. One of these friends was Refer. Refer memory is a gift, a really privileged friend that uses to remember and give feedback on things that nobody knows, except him. Refer got so happy with Hugo y Osvaldo that sent to zecalouro this morning another contribution of the same "style". Let's check.
This is Sexteto Electronico Moderno - Sounds from the Elegant World, Groovy Night Club Music from Uruguay (1968), for Vampi Soul. Just like Hugo y Osvaldo, another Bossa Nova record made in the late 60's in Uruguay. Great record, Refer! Thanks a million. The "Electronico" stands for the use of Hammond organ and electric guitar, complemented by trumpets and sax. I could not search additional information and I will let Loronixers give their own feedback on Sexteto Electronico Moderno. This is not a career LP, but a compilation of their first 4 albums. I'm tracking all down. Tracks include:
01 - Soul Nuevo
02 - My Job
03 - Comin’ Home Baby
04 - Soul LImbo
05 - In The Year 2525
06 - Muere Pequeña Bestia
07 - Ramblin’
08 - Simplemente Agradable
09 - Samba Diferente
10 - Gin Tonic
11 - Say A Little Prayer
12 - Je T’aime, Moi Non Plus
13 - The Look Of Love
14 - El Licor Del Albañil
15 - Despierta Amor

Carlos Monteiro de Souza e Sua Orquestra - Metais em Brasa na Bossa Nova (1963)
Thomas is a Loronixer that said something really great on the last Portinho - Fogo nos Metais post. He said that his girlfriend does not appreciate Brazilian music and started kicking around this apartment when he played Portinho after an exhausting day. I need to tell you something, this LP is of the same style of Portinho, Samba with orchestra, and the difference is that this one is better. Caetano, which is the friend who provided this release, thinks the same.
This is Carlos Monteiro de Souza e Sua Orquestra - Metais em Brasa na Bossa Nova (1963), for Philips. Do not take this one as a reissue; the previous copy is not so good as this one, ripped with diamond cutter by Caetano Rodrigues. The liner notes says that this is the first LP that takes Bossa Nova rhythms to orchestral arrangements. You can believe it or not, but it does not matter, this is a wonderful LP. As The Jazzman said, you should not walk to it, you should run. Tracks include:
01 - This Is Bossa Nova (A. Soares / Carlos Monteiro de Souza)
02 - Só Danço Samba (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Desafinado (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
04 - Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
05 - Amor Sincopado (Chico Feitosa / Marino Pinto)

Leny Andrade & Tamba Trio - Compact 33 (1963)
Well, I hope that Loronixers are pleased with the last Elis Regina in Tokyo release. Let's move now forward with an anthological EP that was already released at Loronix on a very scratch copy, now we are making it again with the help of Caetano Rodrigues on a much better quality. Actually, the first release is so old that probably several friends could not had the chance to see it.
This is Leny Andrade & Tamba Trio - Compact 33 (1963), for RCA, with Durval Ferreira and the Tamba Trio line-up with Luiz Eca, Bebeto and Helcio Milito. You cannot go wrong with Leny Andrade and Tamba Trio. Tracks include:

Elis Regina e Conjunto de Cesar Camargo Mariano - Live in Tokyo (1979)
I spoke with Caetano a few hours ago and I'm happy to made that call. Caetano remembered me an important date, Elis Regina passing twenty-five years ago. It seems it was yesterday. I remember this day, I was playing guitar at my grandfather's house with a group of friend when the new came from someone who told us. I was very young to understand what would be Elis Regina's passing along the forthcoming decades, but I got really sad, as I use to be everytime we heard about an artist passing.
Caetano said that would be a shame if Loronix does not make anything to remember Elis Regina and that's what we decided to do. This is Elis Regina e Conjunto de Cesar Camargo Mariano - Ao Vivo em Tokyo (1979), for Loronix Records (I could not resist, sorry!). Actually, this is not an Elis Regina career record, but the recording of her performance with Cesar Camargo Mariano on a live presentation made in Tokyo, 1979. I received this recording from a friend and the quality is pretty good.
Conjunto de Cesar Camargo Mariano accompanies Elis Regina and includes Cesar Camargo Mariano (piano), Helio Delmiro (guitar), Luizao (bass), Paulinho Braga (drums) and Chico Batera (percussion). The cover artwork is by zecalouro. If someone can prepare a better one, we will be pleased; if possible, we can replace this one. No tracks this time, but you will have 41 minutes of Elis Regina on a recording that probably nobody could hear before.
Elis Regina deserves more, so I'm showing the first songs performed by Elis at Montreux Jazz Festival.

Quarteto Nostalgia - Quarteto Nostalgia (1960) with Chaim Lewak
I remember the whole story, I was on that vinyl fair in Sao Paulo with Caetano Rodrigues, I was happy like a clown with dirty fingers browsing thousands of old Brazilian LPs. Caetano came close to me with this LP on his hand saying: "Take it! It is almost new, cheap and it is a great bargain...", I saw the cover with this marble background and I did not get inspired, so I asked Caetano, why? And he said on his trademark sentence: "É, muuuuito bom!" or "It is veeeeeery good", in english.
Once again, Caetano was absolute right about it, this is an amazing record, zecalouro likes to hear it and is starting to make sounds such like piano. I'm very happy to show it to Loronixers.
This is Quarteto Nostalgia - Quarteto Nostalgia (1960), for Berverly. Quarteto Nostalgia is all about a musician, Chaim Lewak, the pianist of Quarteto Nostalgia. Caetano Rodrigues is a big fan of Chaim Lewak and asked also that zecalouro makes a short Chaim bios, as follows: Chaim Lewak was born in Israel and arrived in Brazil in 1955, hired by the legendary Vogue nightclub. In spite of being a foreigner musician, Chaim got the Brazilian way of playing very fast, becoming a legend in the night of Rio de Janeiro. Chaim also played and collaborated on several records from Moacyr Silva. Chaim Lewak is not in Brazil, the date he left is uncertain, he moved to the United States and is probably active until today.
It is very hard to track down information about Chaim Lewak, so I invite you to take this record with you and to hear a great Jazz piano player, one of Caetano's favorite artists and so far one of my favorites 2007 records. Tracks include:
01 - Nunca (Lupicínio Rodrigues)
02 - Por Causa de Você (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
03 - Foi a Noite (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
04 - Ninguém Me Ama (Fernando Lobo / Antônio Maria)
05 - Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
06 - Nova Ilusão (Claudionor Cruz / Pedro Caetano)
07 - Alguém Como Tu (Jair Amorim / José Maria de Abreu)
08 - Vingança (Lupicínio Rodrigues)
09 - Franqueza (Denis Brean / Osvaldo Guilherme)
10 - Castigo (Dolores Duran)

Odette Lara - Sabe Voce (1966) Single
What about a quick and nice single? Sometimes they worth and this is the case. Odette Lara has just released two LPs, one solo, Contrastes, and her well-known collaboration with Vinicius de Moraes. This is Odette Lara - Sabe Voce (1966), for Elenco. Thanks Arara Azul for taking this pearl from his ark. Arara Azul has been asking for many months for Odette Lara's Contrastes LP, but it is commercially available. I hope this one pleases Loronixers who claim for Odette Lara releases. Tracks include:
01 - Funeral do Lavrador
02 - Sabe Voce

Elizeth Cardoso - Elizeth, A Exclusiva
Hello, Good Night! I'm a little bit late today, several unusual things happened today. I will tell about the craziest one, the heavy wind that attacked my place today. We are having a weird summer in Rio this year, sometimes I feel colder than winter. My problem with the wind is genetic, my grandfather had also his issues with the wind, but zeca is the one that needs special care when the wind starts. When zecalouro gets wind on his feathers he gets sick. I asked his vet and also a biologist the reason for a bird that uses the wind to fly gets sick when takes wind. No one could give a satisfactory answer. If you have the answer for this thing, please tell me.
Good. My free birdy consultation is over; let's get back to business with a LP that was supposed to be released yesterday. This is Elizeth Cardoso - Elizeth, A Exclusiva (no date), for Som/Copacabana, a compilation of the greatest Elizeth Cardoso tunes, good for the new Loronixers who wants to explore Elizeth Cardoso with a single record. If you never heard Elizeth Cardoso, try this one and then check the earlier posts with special attention for the comments by David Federman and his awe reviews of each album. I'm sure that you will be another fan of Elizeth's singing after taking this one with you. Tracks include:
01 - Moeda Quebrada
02 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você
03 - O Amor e a Rosa
04 - Mulata Assanhada
05 - Suas Mãos
06 - É Luxo Só

Baden Powell - Baden Powell Quartet Volume 3 (1970)
I will be open and honest with you this time, it was not easy to choose this last post of the day. Really. I started the day with a phone call to Caetano and we planned together something very different of what is being presented today. We decided to go with a wonderful Elizeth Cardoso album, but it was not ready and it was postponed. The nightmare began. I was thinking about something solid and strong and spent more than an hour wondering.
The second choice was Baden Powell, one that I like most, recorded in France, when the final decision came out of the blue, a piano Dick Farney LP. However, in spite of being a really great pick, the cover had something sad and I became disturbed to make it as the last post. This is a truly painful process. I'm considering now getting back to Baden Powell and that's what I'm going to do.
This is Baden Powell - Baden Powell Quartet Volume 3 (1970), for Barclay (France). Do not worry, I'm now completely satisfied with this pick. Baden Powell released in France three LPs with this "Quartet" formation and this one is considered the best. This record has the participation of Janine de Waleyne as a singer and her performance on first track really makes. Baden Powell Quartet is Baden Powell (guitar and vocal), Ernesto Ribeiro Gonçalves (bass), Hélio Schiavo (drums) and Alfredo Bessa (percussion and vocal). Ariel Kalma (flute) and Jeanine de Waleyne performs on track 01 and Lou Game plays flute on track 05. Tracks include:
01 - Coisa Nº 1 (Moacir Santos)
02 - Terra de Katmandou (Baden Powell)
03 - A Primeira Vez (Alcebíades Barcelos "Bide" / Armando "Marçal")
04 - Ferro de Passar (Baden Powell / Paulo César Pinheiro)
05 - Falei e Disse (Baden Powell / Paulo César Pinheiro)
06 - Lua Aberta (P. Frederico / João de Aquino)

Los Gamma - Bossa 4
I never heard this LP before Caetano Rodrigues sent to Loronixers in this last and pretty solid set of albums. The first time I could see this cover was on bossa.net from our great friend Ito. Honestly, it was not on my hunt list, with no chance to be one day, since the only info I had was the cover artwork. However, Caetano sent to us with one of his short and definitive statements: "Listen, it is veeeeery good!" on that way only Caetano knows how to say.
The conclusion: without the help of Caetano, jewels like this LP would never be here. That's why I don't get tired to say thanks. Caetano has the knowledge we need to make Loronix a really better community. Let's see what the master has today to please us.
This is Los Gamma - Bossa 4 (no date), for Audiomex. This is Bossa Nova made in Mexico, very good music that could easily be taken as something recorded in Brazil during the golden 60 decade. The release date is unknown, as well personnel. Although the title suggests a quartet, I think there were more than four musicians in the set. If any Loronixer who lives in Mexico can add some information to this release will be greatly appreciated, it is that kind of record that makes you nut to track down additional information. Tracks include:
01 - Meditacion (Tom Jobim)
02 - Alegria de Viver (Luiz Eça)
03 - Tania (J.T. Meirelles)
04 - Vivo Sonando (Tom Jobim)
05 - La Chica de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Samba de Verano (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
07 - Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
08 - Felicidad (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 - El Cerro (Tom Jobim)
10 - Tonto (Armando Manzano)

Miltinho - As Mulheres de Miltinho (1968)
Hello, Good Night! Yesterday, I was feeling miserable, but live is not continuous, it is divided in days. Nothing better than a new day after another. Anyway, just want to say that I'm feeling great again. When zeca feels good he likes to do his best to show great music to Loronixers. So let's start great and happy, with a artist that never seems to had a single bad day, headache, worries in his life.
This is Miltinho - As Mulheres de Miltinho (1968), for Odeon. Just like an early release provided by our great friend Caetano Rodrigues, Os Guanabara Boys - Dancando com as Garotas, As Mulheres de Miltinho has a repertoire dedicated to women with each song makes a reference of a woman, a girl, anyway, Miltinho knows everything about women and you should check what he does in this LP. As Mulheres de Miltinho is arranged by Maestro Nelsinho, so be prepared for several trombones dueling with Miltinho singing. Maestro Lyrio Panicalli is in charge of Musical Direction and Herminio Bello de Carvalho also plays his role as production assistance. Tracks include:
01 - Rosalina (Haroldo Barbosa / Wilson Batista) -- Faceira (Ary Barroso) -- Maria Boa (Assis Valente)
02 - A Rita (Chico Buarque)
03 - Botões de Laranjeira (Pedro Caetano)
04 - Helena Helena (Antônio Almeida / Constantino Silva "Secundino")
05 - Emília (Haroldo Lobo / Wilson Batista)
06 - Eu Não Posso Ver Mulher (Osvaldo Santiago) -- Ora Vejam Só (J. B. da Silva "Sinhô") -- Odete (Dunga / Herivelto Martins)
07 - Doralice (Antônio Almeida / Dorival Caymmi)
08 - Bolinha de Papel (Geraldo Pereira)
09 - Madalena (Ari Macedo / Airton Amorim)
10 - Izaura (Herivelto Martins / Roberto Roberti)
Sorry, I have just received this video with Norma Bengell on a TV commercial in 1957 and could not resist to show everybody. Just click at the middle of the square bellow to play the video.

Maestro Portinho e Sua Orquestra - Fogo nos Metais (1963)
Among the last contributions by the great Caetano Rodrigues, this one is making a great success here. I decided to give a break to zecalouro - the parrot - studies on classics to give him a chance to hear something popular and dancing, since he has been alone some hours during the days this year. zeca is addicted to this LP.
This is Maestro Portinho e Sua Orquestra - Fogo nos Metais (1963), for Philips. zeca seems to understand that we have here Maestro Portinho doing his best, which is the perfect mix of Samba rhythms with orchestral arrangements. Personnel is strong, with several renowned musicians, such as: Xu, Papudinho, Corisco, Jorginho and many others as you can check at detailed personnel listing, just before tracks this time. Antonio Carlos Jobim & Billy Blanco - Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro (1954) 10-inch
Here we have another LP that zecalouro is keeping locked inside his cage for months. I would never imagine that today would be the best day to show it to Loronixers, I'm feeling a little dizzy today. Several new friends are visiting our community for the first time today. Loronix was recommended by the Oliver Wang from the awesome Soul-Sides.com and I would like to please our new visitors with this legendary record.
This is Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billy Blanco - Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro (1954), for Continental, a very early 10-inch recording capturing the early Tom Jobim and Billy Blanco compositions on symphonic format with orchestra directed and arrangement by Maestro Radames Gnattali. Actually, Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro is not one of the most inspired Tom Jobim works, Jobim was still defining his style and did not meet already his long-term partner Vinicius de Moraes.
The historical aspect, the participation of several renowned artists, such as: Nora Ney, Lucio Alves, Os Cariocas, Dick Farney and Elizeth Cardoso and Radames Gnattali Orquestra worth the admission price alone. You should not miss it. Tracks include:
01 - A Montanha - o Sol - o Mar (Sinfonia Popular Em Tempo de Samba) (Billy Blanco / Tom Jobim) - performed by: Nora Ney / Lúcio Alves / Os Cariocas / Gilberto Milfont / Emilinha Borba / Dick Farney / Doris Monteiro / Jorge Goulart / Elizeth Cardoso
02 - Arpoador (Tom Jobim / Billy Blanco)
03 - Noites do Rio (Tom Jobim / Billy Blanco)
04 - O Samba de Amanhã (Tom Jobim / Billy Blanco)
05 - Hino ao Sol (Tom Jobim / Billy Blanco)
06 - Descendo o Morro (Billy Blanco / Tom Jobim)

Quarteto Edison Machado - Obras 2 (1971)
The Loronixer Joao Beltrao is not here since the beginning, but even being new to us, he is a really active friend, making daily participations on comments, CBox, etc. It has been more than a month since he sent this contribution and for reasons that I don't know why, I was not released. I'm now happy of did not release it earlier since I can now present this album and also a unique music video made available by Pedro Mendes. Pedro has a large video collection and you can check more information on his collection on the video itself, available bellow this post closing.
Thanks Joao Beltrao for Quarteto Edison Machado - Obras 2 (1971), for Stylo, also known as "O Pulo do Gato", featuring Edson Machado (drums), Haroldo Mauro Jr. (piano), Ion Muniz (sax tenor and flute), Ricardo Pereira dos Santos (bass) and the special guest Ed. Maciel (trombone). The LP is self-explanatory, but the video needs some clarification, according with Pedro Mendes, this is an excerpt from a Brazilian movie from the 60's recorded at the legendary Beco das Garrafas in Rio de Janeiro and Edison Machado is playing drums with Rio 65 Trio! Tracks include:
01 - Enydra
02 - Liu
03 - O Pulo do Gato
04 - Mr. Maciel
05 - Sarah
06 - Asa Branca
07 - Mr. Machado

The Ipanema Pop Orchestra - Bossa Nova for Swinging Lovers (1965)
If you are looking at this cover thinking something like: "Oh! No! Another of those Bossa Nova for "tourists" with a woman on a bikini..." I agree 100% with you. This is the first reaction I had when I look at this cover. However, Caetano Rodrigues sent this LP to Loronixers, so I decided to call Caetano and ask the reason for such record. Caetano said: "It is VERY good!!!" When Caetano says it is very good, it is excellent.
This is The Ipanema Pop Orchestra - Bossa Nova for Swinging Lovers (1965), for London, an obscure Brazilian studio only group with not credited players, but the arrangers are Maestro Cipo, Eumir Deodato and Luiz Eca giving their best on twelve selected Bossa Nova standards. I would like to know the musicians on the set... I'm wondering if Eca plays the piano. Who has this answer? Anyway, an enjoyable album that you should investigate. As I said, don't let the cover and the title cheats you, it is great and magnificent. Tracks include:
01 - O Barquinho (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
02 - Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Insensatez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Vivo Sonhando (Tom Jobim)
05 - Amor e Paz (Tito Madi)
06 - Rio (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
07 - Desafinado (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
08 - Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 - Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
10 - Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
11 - Berimbau (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 - Meditação (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)

Dom Um Romao - Hotmosphere (1976)
I was very curious to hear this record and I had the chance last week when Caetano Rodrigues contributions to Loronixers arrived here on the cage. I'm not disappointed, although the warm reception by critics when this LP was re-issued in CD ten years ago. Caetano's version is the CD reissue, so you will have a noise free music this time. I miss the noise when hearing this album, I have been hearing only vinyl in the last weeks and a free of noise music sounds strange for me. A self-explanatory release.
This is Dom Um Romao - Hotmosphere (1976), for Pablo Records/Philips, arranged by Celia Vaz and featuring a constellation of renowned musicians from the 70's. The first batucadas tracks alone worth the admission price, perhaps you will find much more, such as the participation of Sivuca on vocals and accordion, Dom Salvador on Piano and Claudio Roditti on trumpet. A complete personnel listing is available. Tracks include:

Sivuca - Guitar and Accordion (1969)
The press coverage dedicated a few lines to inform and/or tribute the passing of the great Sivuca a few weeks ago. In the other hand, the music and fan communities in the Internet seems that will never stop, remembering, celebrating and sharing information about this great artist. We have here another Sivuca LP, pretty hard to find, sent by our friend Emilio Sadier just before his passing. Thanks for it Emilio.
This is Sivuca - Guitar and Accordion (1969), for Grammonfon AB Electra - Sweden, recorded in two days (January, 22 and 23), with arrangements by Sivuca and strings and flute arrangements by Merit Hemmingson. As far as I could search this record was never re-issued in CD and should be a missing piece for several fans of Sivuca. This cover has something strange that disturbs me; it is great, but for an unknown reason brings some melancholic feelings. I'm sure that you will enjoy this album. Tracks include:
01 - Canção da Volta (Ismael Netto / Antônio Maria)
02 - Arrastão (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Minha Saudade (João Donato)
04 - Eu e a Brisa (Johnny Alf)
05 - Sound Of Samba (Sivuca)
06 - Quem Quizer Amar Alguém (Luis Henrique)
07 - Amor Verdadeiro (Sivuca / Luis Bandeira)
08 - No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
09 - By The Way (Eumir Deodato)
10 - Guriatã de Coqueiro (Severino Rangel "Ratinho")
11 - Feitiço de Vila (Noel Rosa)
12 - Pra Que Chorar (Baden Powell)

Luiz Henrique - Listen to Me (1967)
Hello, Good Night! A late good night today. The sunset in Copacabana was so great today that I could not stay away from the window until the end. However, full of good feelings and really motivated by the sunset, I discovered that everything is very slow with the Internet down here. I don't know if it is something on my infrastructure or my hosting service. I don't want to check this thing now, I'm in a very good humor and nothing can be stopping me. We will go today with already available material, which is also great.
This is Luiz Henrique - Listen to Me (1967), for Fontana USA, released in the US during his seven years stay outside Brazil. Listen to Me is not listed on the discographies I could check and probably it will be a good surprise for the many Luiz Henrique fans. Luiz Henrique is a great artist that uses to receive several comments from Loronixers on each release. Unfortunately, I could not search successfully personnel and complimentary details of this LP and I trust on Loronixers to add more info to this post. Tracks include:
01 - If You Want to Be a Lover
02 - I Was Afraid
03 - Berimbau
04 - There Goes my Heart
05 - Sem Tostao
06 - Song of Santa Claus
07 - In my Automobile
08 - Like a Flower
09 - Summer Song
10 - Sambao
11 - Alcinha
12 - Listen to Me
Additional information by Frank-Olliver Helman: "Arranged by Sivuca. There is also a photo of Dom Um Romao playing berimbau. "Sambao" is a Dom Um Romao composition. So Sivuca and Dom Um Romao participates on the whole recording."

Maestro Zaccarias e Sua Orquestra - Sambas em Desfile (1955)
I'm now a big fan of the 10-inch records released in the mid 50's. The thing that I like most about these 10-inch is that you never know what you will have before hearing. Some of them are simple and beautiful and some others - such like the last Turma da Gafieira - are complex and seem to be ahead of the time they were recorded. Another fact is the size of the record, fitting an average of 20 minutes of music in eight tracks, not so short as the single or EP and not so long as the LP. I’m sad that 10-inch had disappeared very soon.
Let's make another 10-inch, another contribution from the legendary Mr. X., one of the first Loronix contributors and one of the most patient ones since I have several albums sent by him waiting and he does not mind it. Thanks Mr. X. This is Maestro Zaccarias e Sua Orquestra - Sambas em Desfile (1955), for RCA Victor, one of the earliest Maestros Zaccarias LPs. This record is a truly amazing orchestra album with Samba rhythms, played such like the old Escolas de Samba from Rio de Janeiro and Gafieiras use to make. A nice piece of a very old record provided for Mr. X. that Loronixers should not miss. Tracks include:
01 - Está Chegando a Hora (Henricão / Rubens Campos)
02 - Madalena (Ari Macedo / Airton Amorim)
03 - Pra Seu Governo (Haroldo Lobo / Milton de Oliveira)
04 - Meu Consolo É Você (Antônio Nássara / Roberto Martins)
05 - Não Tenho Lágrimas (Max Bulhões / Milton de Oliveira)
06 - Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa)
07 - Maria Boa (Assis Valente)
08 - É Bom Parar (Rubens Soares)
Let's make another 10-inch, another contribution from the legendary Mr. X., one of the first Loronix contributors and one of the most patient ones since I have several albums sent by him waiting and he does not mind it. Marcos Moran e Samba Som Sete - Transamba (1973)
Let's play with Samba at Loronix, at least what zecalouro thinks it is pure Samba and not Samba with Bossa Nova or Jazz flavor. This LP came from one of those file sharing programs we have available at the Internet, so I cannot give the appropriate credits to the friend that make it available. It is so nice, bossanovadreamer said that he heard a single track of this artist and it is great. Anyway, everything lead to this post, why not make it?
This is Marcos Moran e Samba Som Sete - Transamba (1973), for Caravelle, with the participation of Silvia e Sandra (probably a duet) and Jadir de Castro, which you had the chance to see a couple of weeks ago at Loronix. This is a perfect Samba record from the early 70's, such like the ones made by Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, Tom & Dito and others. Samba Som Sete makes the accompaniment, resulting in what people use to call a "groovy" record. I'm quite sure this should be a surprising release for many friends. Tracks include:
01 - Partido Alto (Chico Buarque)
02 - Uma Rosa Com Amor (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
03 - Minhas Razões (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
04 - Capoeira (Batista da Mangueira)
05 - Bate Barriga (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
06 - Quero Ver Minha Escola Passar (David Correia)
07 - Besta É Tu (Pepeu Gomes / Moraes Moreira / Galvão)
08 - Quem Lhe Disse Que Eu Chorei (Antônio Grande)
09 - Do Lado Direito da Rua Direita (Luis Carlos / Chiquinho)
10 - Cafuné (Zuzuca)
11 - Esquindin-din (Lucas da Tijuca)
12 - Pagode do Vavá (Paulinho da Viola)

Quarteto em Cy - Quarteto em Cy (1964)
This post has been prepared for several weeks. Everything started with Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone), that sent me an email asking for it, and then I had the chance to see it on a very good price, a real bargain in a vinyl shop. However, when I got home with the record, I could see better why it was so cheap, the LP was in a very bad condition with several scratches. Some weeks had gone when I had the idea to ask Caetano for it and here we are, unique combination, covers by zecalouro and music by Caetano. I decided to keep this cover by the girls autograph, better seen with the music.
