I think this Saturday is the day to show the great and forgotten music available on zecalouro's shelf. I don't like to run Loronix under controls, lists, catalogs, etc. Great part of the pleasure of being here is to make the selections based on instincts and even associating the experiences I had on the day with the albums posted tonight. It is a way to present this great music with passion, giving a personal touch in the process. Caetano runs on the same chaotic pattern, making his selections on what HE wants to hear, this is great.
This is Jose Briamonte - Briamonte Orchestra (1970), for Elenco, another LP that deserves special attention, highly recommended by Caetano Rodrigues. It is weird to show this album after ten months of Loronix. I work together with Sabadabada to have the last Briamonte release; Sambeco (check Loronix Find It!) while this gem was under my nose for months. Really great LP produced by Roberto Menescal and arranged by Maestro Briamonte. Tracks include:
01 - Tema de Cristina (José Briamonte)
02 - Airport Love Theme (A. Newman / Paul Francis Webster)
03 - Primavera (Vai Chuva) (Cassiano / Silva Rochael)
04 - Rota Sul (José Briamonte)
05 - True Grit (E. Bernstein / D. Black)
06 - Assim na Terra Como no Céu (Roberto Menescal / Nonato Buzar / Paulinho Tapajós)
07 - O Embalo do Pato (José Briamonte)
08 - What The World Needs Now Is Love (Burt Bacharach / David)
09 - Zip (José Briamonte)
10 - Everybody's Talkin' (Neil)
11 - Caos (José Briamonte)
12 - Quarentão Simpático (Renatão) (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
13 - Atmosfera (José Briamonte)

Duncan Lamont - Lo Mejor de la Bossa Nova (1970)
If you are reading this text just to realize if this record is good or not, take my advice and skip my writing going straight to the music at the link bellow. This is a fantastic album. Duncan Lamont is the name of the main performer. I'm not versed on Jazz such many Loronixers, but I bet that this album and Duncan Lamont is unknown to many friends. I will be straightforward; it is not fair to drag you with my writing this time.
This is Duncan Lamont - Lo Mejor de La Bossa Nova (1970), for Pathe (Argentina). Duncan Lamont is not Argentinean and Caetano shows us the Argentinean edition of The Best of The Bossa Novas, originally issued by MFP in UK. Duncan Lamont was born in Scotland and is a renowned studio musician, played with almost everyone in show business. It is a pleasure to hear Duncan sax on this very solid album, but what amazes me most is the performance of the three bass players at the set, everything works fine with The Best of the Bossa Novas. Tracks include:
01 - Desafinado
02 - Un Hombre y una Mujer
03 - Sunny
04 - Meditacion
05 - Manana de Carnaval
06 - Insensatez
07 - La Chica de Ipanema
08 - Corcovado
09 - Samba de una Nota Sola
10 - La Sombra de tu Sonrisa
11 - Llamame
12 - Llevame voltando a la Luna

Bezerra da Silva - Bezerra da Silva e um Punhado de Bambas (1982)
Hello, Good Night! I decided today to make another bike ride at the beach. That last one was zecalouro's craziness, the previous round trip circuit Leme - Copacabana - Arpoador - Ipanema - Leblon was reduced this time to Leme - Copacabana - Arpoador, where I had the chance to stop for a while to se the sunset. Blame it on zecalouro for not carrying his camera.
The sun is up on the last 3 weeks and does not show willing to rest, Copacabana sidewalk is a party on these times, I saw several samba groups performing live and that was exactly what I need to have this post idea. Let's see how it works.
This is Bezerra da Silva - Bezerra da Silva e um Punhado de Bambas (1982), for RCA Vik, kindly put inside the pen drive sent by Moos. Bezerra da Silva is an unique artist, he shares with Moreira da Silva, which will be also released very soon, the title of King of Carioca Malice (O Rei da Malandragem), with which Bezerra da Silva shows with his music the life at Rio Favelas, describing on lyrics the scenarios of drugs, violence and crime on a very humorous manner. Bezerra da Silva should be a real treat for us, used to listen to Bossa Nova, Jazz, etc. I'm very curious to receive feedback. Thanks for this one Moos, this is a really hard to find Bezerra da Silva album, showing him at his peak. Tracks include:
01 - Aqueles Morros (Pedro Butina / Bezerra da Silva)
02 - Apertar o Cinto (Barbeirinho do Jacarezinho)
03 - Na Aba (Ney Silva / Paulinho Correia / Trambique)
04 - Deixa Uma Páia Pro Véio Queimá (Adelzonilton)
05 - Amigo do Sereno (Criolo Doido / Aristides Marques)
06 - Cipó Caboclo (J. B. do Jacarezinho / Didi do Jacarezinho)
07 - O Federal (Ribeiro)
08 - Vizinha Faladeira (Ismael Camillo)
09 - Punhado de Bambas (Bizum)
10 - Chico Não Deu Sorte (Eliezer da Ponte)
11 - Vovó D'ángola (Moacir Bombeiro / Popular P)

Chris Connor - Sings Gentle Bossa Nova (1965)
Here we go on the International Bossa Nova release of the day, always sponsored by Caetano Rodrigues. By the way, I was talking with Caetano today and we both agree that we need more female singers, they are popular and sometimes make our minds fly away from where we are. Caetano presents Chris Connor and her rendition to Bossa Nova. Let’s see.
This is Chris Connor - Sings Gentle Bossa Nova (1965), for Paramount, once again, another female singer with that Julie London - Cry me a River mood, which is very adapted to Bossa Nova gentle singing. Chris Connor brings an innovative repertoire with Sings Gentle Bossa Nova, opening the record with a Beatles song, Hard Day's Night and keeps rolling with a nice repertoire with no Bossa Nova standards. This should please Loronixers as I got pleased when heard it today. Tracks include:
01 - Hard Day's Night
02 - A Taste of Honey
03 - Downtown
04 - Feeling Good
05 - Shadow of your Smile
06 - Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)
07 - Can't Get Over the Bossa Nova
08 - Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte
09 - Dear Heart
10 - Baby, the Rain Must Fall
11 - Stranger on the Shore
12 - A Quiet Thing

Quincas Berro D'Agua de Jorge Amado - Trilha Sonora da Peca Teatral (1972) | EP
Let's move forward with something different, a Compacto Duplo, also known as EP, kindly sponsored by Trix from Minas Gerais. Trix found this gem accidentally; he was making a research on rare tracks of Nara Leao for his listening pleasure, when this record came on his several blitz on old vinyl shops in Belo Horizonte. Thanks Trix for making it available to Loronixers.
This is Quincas Berro D'Agua - Trilha Sonora da Peca Teatral (1972), for Philips, featuring Nara Leao, Gereba, MPB-4, Edil Pacheco and Fernado Lona. It will be very nice to hear new tracks from Nara Leao and MPB-4 never released in their solo releases. Tracks include:
01 - Canto De Nanã (Dorival Caymmi) - MPB-4
02 - Beira Mágoa (Fernando Lona / João Augusto) - NARA LEAO
03 - Baião De Quincas (Gereba / Patinhas) - GEREBA
04 - Ensinança (Edil Pacheco / João Augusto) - EDIL PACHECO
05 - Venha (Fernando Lona / João Augusto) - FERNANDO LONA

Joao Donato & Eloir de Moraes - Cafe com Pao (1997)
Hello, Good Night! Let's start today with an album that came to our attention by a Loronixer that features a really unique and very obscure Brazilian artist, Eloir de Moraes. Eloir was an important contributor to Bossa Nova and overall Brazilian music; he started his career in 1945, as drummer at the legendary nightclub of Hotel Plaza, the same hotel that Jobim and others uses to watch Johnny Alf to see his unique playing. Eloir was also an active character at Beco das Garrafas, the legendary spot where many Bossa Nova legends made their performance.
In spite of his importance, Eloir de Moraes never recorded an solo LP, actually, this is the first Eloir de Moraes album in partnership with Joao Donato, recorded on a single week and produced by Almir Chediak. Eloir has passed in October, 2004 and this is Loronix small homage to this wonderful musician.
This is Joao Donato & Eloir de Moraes - Cafe com Pao (1997), for Lumiar Discos, featuring Joao Donato (piano, arrangements), Eloir de Moraes (drums), Arismar do Espirito Santo (bass), Ion Miniz, Raul de Souza, Ricardo Pontes and Altair Martins (sax, trombone, flute and trumpet) and Robertinho Silva (percussion). It is amazing that Eloir de Moraes had to wait 71 years to record his firs album. Tracks include:
01 - Sambou, Sambou (João Donato / João Mello)
02 - Fibra (Eloir de Morais / Paulo Moura)
03 - Nasci Para Bailar (João Donato / Paulo André)
04 - Até Quem Sabe (João Donato / Lysias Ênio)
05 - Hi-lili, Hi-lo (Halen Deutsch / Bronislaw Kaper)
06 - Nua Idéia (João Donato / Caetano Veloso)
07 - Café Com Pão (João Donato / Lysias Ênio)
08 - A Paz (João Donato / Gilberto Gil)
09 - A Rã (João Donato / Caetano Veloso)
10 - Amazonas (João Donato / Lysias Ênio)
11 - Simples Carinho (João Donato / Abel Silva)
12 - Minha Saudade (João Donato / João Gilberto)
13 - Speak Low (Kurt Weill / Harry Warren / Ogden Nash)
Last Minute Video: Joao Donato playing accordion at Rio Acre, take from YouTube as a hint from Mr. ABC.

Carlos Lyra - 25 Anos de Bossa Nova (1987)
This is the kind of album that several Loronixers have been asking, not this one specifically, but something that could capture a live and late Bossa Nova gig on a small place. I’m happy to present this one, here for months, but with no chance to make it. Today it is the time. Let's see.
This is Carlos Lyra - 25 Anos de Bossa Nova (1987), for the never heard before 3M label. Although released 20 years ago, here at Loronix we can say this is a late live recording. 25 Anos de Bossa was recorded in Jazzmania, a nightclub in Rio de Janeiro, capturing Carlos Lyra on a very relaxed set, talking with the audience, telling stories from the past and performing the best of his repertoire to a small group that gives a great feedback from start to end. It is the kind of show that you wish you were there. Tracks include:
01 - Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Quando Chegares (Carlos Lyra)
03 - Maria Ninguém (Carlos Lyra)
04 - Lobo Bobo (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli) -- Saudade Fez Um Samba (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli) -- Canção Que Morre no Ar (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli) -- Se É Tarde Me Perdoa (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
05 - Feio Não É Bonito (Carlos Lyra / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri)
06 - Você e Eu (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) -- Coisa Mais Linda (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) -- Samba do Carioca (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) -- Sabe Você (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) -- Pau-de-arara (Comedor de Gilete) (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) -- Maria Moita (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) -- Primavera (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Influência do Jazz (Carlos Lyra)
09 - O Negócio É Amar (Carlos Lyra / Dolores Duran)
10 - Marcha da Quarta-feira de Cinzas (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)

Bud Shank & Clare Fischer - Bossa Nova Jazz Samba (1962)
Here we go now on the international Bossa Nova post of the day, obviously, gently provided by Caetano Rodrigues, the Great. This one brings wonderful artists, Bud Shank (sax) with a great identification with Brazilian music and Bossa Nova and Clare Fischer (piano), that has a particular meaning to zecalouro, Clare Fischer and his record Clare Fischer Plays Antonio Carlos Jobim and Clare Fischer - So Danco Samba was one of the first Caetano Rodrigues contribution, the start of the "international Bossa Nova" releases at Loronix.
This is Bud Shank and Clare Fischer - Bossa Nova Jazz Samba (1962), for Pacific Jazz, a nice blend of West Cost Jazz, Bossa Nova and Samba rhythms. It is amazing that this album is out of print. Bossa Nova Jazz Samba features Bud Shank (sax), Clare Fischer (piano), Ralph Pena (bass) and Larry Bunker, Bob Neel, Milt Holland and Frank Guerrero (percussion). Tracks include:
01 - Samba Da Borboleta
02 - Illusao
03 - Pensativa
04 - Joao

Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto - Samba e Bom Assim Nr. 2 (1965)
Everybody knows that I have a special admiration to the tenor sax of Moacyr Silva. I have been trying to hide my preferences to Loronixers, since my role demands to be neutral. However, with Moacyr Silva, it is quite impossible to write about his music without passion. I hope you understand this.
Sometimes our friends surprise us with notes written at their other blogs or websites about Loronix or the artists that we learn to admire here. I could not resist to share this one, written by Daniel, describing Moacyr Silva on his website, let's see.
" (...) a Brasilian musician with a Brasilian band, playing Brasilian music! That's very different as you gonna hear it! Fantastic!!! It is also sure that such a great player as Moacyr SILVA couldn't ignore the jazz tunes. That's why you'll find here two other exceptionals albums, one where Silva hides under the name of Bob Fleming, "Mr Sax" where he goes through standards. All the tunes you know plus ... the sun! the other one, "E tempo de bolero" has also very well known tunes but... I can't explain, you have to listen!!! He really sounds like the great ones of our collections. (...)"
I feel really proud when someone get along with an artist by Loronix and makes such statement, recognizing Moacyr Silva at the same place given to the great ones of his collection. Thanks a lot Daniel for your enthusiasm.
This is Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto - Samba e Bom Assim Nr. 2 (1965), for Copacabana. Samba e Bom Assim features Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto, which is Moacyr Silva at his best, accompanied by great musicians, such as the legendary Chaim Lewak at the Piano, the bass of Luis Marinho and Rubens Bassini as percussionist. Caetano asked to mention the work of Chaim Lewak on track one, Verao no Meu Rio, Chaim plays a wonderful piano at this tune. Thanks once again Caetano, this "Moacyr" is really hard to find, missing on mine and on several other friends’ collection. Tracks include:
01 - Verão no Meu Rio (Carlito / Carla Baroni)
02 - Saudade Esperança (Jota Júnior / Alcyr Pires Vermelho)
03 - Conserve o Seu Lugar (Moacyr Silva / Avarese)
04 - Amor e Paz (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Chega de Sonhar (Pernambuco)
06 - Garota Zona Norte (Ivan Paulo / Cosme Teixeira)
07 - O Meu Pecado (Zé Keti)
08 - Jogue Fora a Tristeza (Moacyr Silva / Avarese)
09 - Alma Em Serenata (Marino Pinto / Paulo Valdez)
10 - Vai Saudade (Waldir Calmon / Fernando Barreto)
11 - Ternura e Luar (Uma Noite no Iate) (Geraldo Barbosa / Joluz)
12 - O Morro Não Tem Vez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)

Music Video | Tamba Trio with Eca, Milito and Bebeto
I'm late and hungry today, my strategy of using the time today has failed. By the way, daylight savings ending still makes confusion on my routine. Anyway, while leaving for a quick snack, I'm showing Loronixers another great video contribution from Luiz Harding. Loronixers got amazed with the last Tamba Trio video, but friends are still crying for the original Tamba Trio formation with Luiz Eca, Helcio Milito and Bebeto.
That's exactly what Luiz Harding is providing with this video. Thanks Luiz. Stay with Tamba Trio while I'm filling my body with nutrients. See you later and...
Hope uEnjoy!

Orlando Silveira - S.O.S. Band It (1974)
Hello, Good Night! We had yesterday an album from a Brazilian Maestro that we never released at Loronix before, the album Bossa with a Beat, by Maestro Expósito e Sua Orquestra. We are starting with the same idea today, presenting a new Maestro with a very different album without the traditional approach of orchestras and Samba. Let's see.
This is Orlando Silveira - S.O.S Band It (1974), for Parlophone. S.O.S stands for Som Orlando Silveira and the cover artwork is the best definition of the sound that you will hear inside it, 70's grooves, very dancing, a blend of brass with soul music. The friends who like the Sounds of the 70's, such like Mr. G. and Mr. Bapt should be pleased with this release and I hope they come to tell us a little bit more of this unusual session by Orlando Silveira. Tracks include:
01 - Kohoutec (Pedrinho / Telck)
02 - Me And You (Joe / D. Jones / D. MacLean)
03 - Goddess Of Love (J. Hart / W. Stafford / B. Liles)
04 - Shangri-la (Sigman / Malneck / Maxwell)
05 - Quasars (Nivaldo Duarte / Stockler)
06 - Concerto Pour Une Voix (Saint-Preux)
07 - Pretty Flower (Peter / Louie / Michael)
08 - Big Splash (Pedrinho / Telck)
09 - Our Love Dream (T. Temple / J. Baker)
10 - The Age Of Love (Fernando Adour)
11 - Long Long Time (Peter / B. Cane / July)
12 - Quem Sabe Sabe (Jota Sandoval / Carvalhinho)

Sambacana - VI Sambacana | Praca da Savassi (1979)
Gentleman, what a nice work I had right now with Trix, a Loronixer from Minas Gerais, my favorite state in Brazil, first place is Rio de Janeiro, of course. We worked together exchanging more than 50 emails to decide for this post. I have to admit that Trix put some passion on top of it. This record is all about Minas Gerais and Belo Horizonte. Anyway, thanks Trix for supporting this crazy and painful process, I'm sure Loronixers will have a lot to tell about this LP.
This is Sambacana - VI Sambacana | Praca da Savassi (1979), no label. Trix said this LP is a very limited release made commercially available only in Minas Gerais. Sambacana is lead by Pacifico Mascarenhas, which is a group that you already know at Loronix with some previous releases. Loronix Find It is the right place look for earlier Sambacana releases at Loronix. Well. It's late down here, Trix has disappeared with the additional info and he will probably give us tomorrow some inside information about this session. Tracks include:
Sorry, Trix is back to correct the release date. He also said that Praca da Savassi is a great spot in Belo Horizonte, the right place to see the beautiful girls from Minas Gerais. Thanks Trix.

Exposito e Sua Orquestra - Bossa With a Beat
I thought it was very difficult to show a never released Brazilian Maestro at Loronix, behind the names we already know, such as Portinho, Zaccarias, Luiz Arruda Paes, Carioca, and many, many others. I was wrong again. Caetano is now showing us a never released Maestro, Exposito, better, Maestro Expósito. I'm curious to hear feedback from Loronixers, should be tremendous.
This is Expósito e Sua Orquestra - Bossa with a Beat (no date), for RCA Victor. It is amazing that zecalouro has never shown before any other Maestro Expósito record, there are many, mainly in the 60's. My searches were not successful when trying to gather more info about Maestro Expósito, the back cover is also disappointing, bringing only a linear notes written in Portuguese and English to target the overseas audience. I hope someone can bring more clarification. Tracks include:
01 - Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Berimbau (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
04 - Só Danço Samba (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Insensatez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Garota Moderna (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
07 - Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
08 - Das Rosas (Dorival Caymmi)
09 - Samba Em Prelúdio (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - Rio (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
11 - Meditação (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
12 - Só Tinha de Ser Com Você (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)

Lalo Schifrin & Bob Brookmeyer - Samba para Dos (1963)
That's it. The feedback received from Muchacho nas Bocas, Hermeto Pascoal Video and Miscelanea Vanguardiosa PodCast was really great. I'm happy when Loronixers are pleased with zecalouro's posts. However, zecalouro pleases Loronixers and Caetanon Rodrigues drives people crazy, let's get back on track with another fine release sponsored by Caetano Rodrigues, The Great.
This is Lalo Schifrin & Bob Brookmeyer - Samba para Dos (1963), for Verve. Someone said before that Lalo Schifrin early works dedicated to the Bossa Nova repertoire were worth to dig. I can't remember the friend's name and he was absolutely right. This is a very nice record with the piano of Lalo Schifrin and the trombone of Bob Brookmeyer supported by renowned artists, such as Phil Woods, Al Cohn and others. Overall personnel makes more that an accompaniment, they have also the spotlights with several solos throughout the record. Thanks for it, Caetano, people should be really amazed by this album. Music Video | Hermeto Pascoal - Libertango by Miscelanea Vanguardiosa Podcast
It has been a while we do not show something really nice from Hermeto Pascoal. I was wondering what would be a really unique Hermeto Pascoal music or video to show Loronixers. The answer came from our friend Ricardo Reston, which is the owner and maintainer of Miscelanea Vanguardiosa, a pioneer Brazilian Podcast devoted to instrumental music that you should not miss.
Ricardo is sending to Loronixers this music video bellow, showing Hermeto Pascoal in Argentina performing a amazing rendition of Libertango, from the legendary Astor Piazolla.
By the way, Miscelanea Vanguardiosa has started a series of Podcasts showing the music of Hermeto Pascoal from an historical perspective, such as those timelines we are used to see on Magazines. The first Podcast is already available, showing Hermeto Pascoal early years.
Make a visit to Miscelanea Vanguardiosa, here, http://miscelaneavanguardiosa.blogspot.com, if you read English, here, http://miscvanguard.blogspot.com and come back to watch this video, a real treat.
Hope uEnjoy!

Muchacho nas Bocas - Um Sax Muito Louco (1973) featuring Moacyr Silva and Ed Lincoln
Hello, Good Night! I'm starting today with this obscure LP that I was lucky to find on those R$1 bargains in Rio de Janeiro. In a first sight, the cover was not inspiring, but the record label was Equipe and the price given worth the enterprise. I use to wash all records I bought as soon as I get home, also playing a little bit of them. It was necessary to listen everything to recognize the sax of the legendary Moacyr Silva and the organ of Ed Lincoln. Later on I could double check on Sombras, a website that you should not miss, owned and maintained by Sergio Ximenes that has been for years serving one of the most complete Brazilian music discographies at the Internet. Sombras is http://www.sombras.com.br.
This is Muchacho nas Bocas - Um Sax Muito Louco (1973), for Equipe, a short and relaxed sax and organ duel by Moacyr Silva and Ed Lincon on top of a popular repertoire that you will recognize easy. Just a warning for perfectionists, the overall quality of the music is good, however, two tracks were marked by a deep scratch, still audible, but without spoiling the listening pleasure. Tracks include:
01 - Tem Capoeira
02 - Minha Viola
03 - Amor, Amor
04 - Desafio
05 - Ninguem Tasca (Gaviao)
06 - Se Ela Quer
07 - Mexe Mexe
08 - Esperancas Perdidas
09 - A Danca do Cafune
10 - Baba de Quiabo

Neco e o Seu Violao - Coquetel Bossa Nova (1963)
It was very hard to decide the end post of the day. I was on a conflict between two other choices, but when it comes to my attention that Caetano sent to us an additional Neco LP, the decision was taken on less then a second. Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone) will be very pleased to see Neco when he wakes up in the morning. Jean is a great friend of our community and had the chance to play and have a friendship with Neco. Jean said that besides being a unique guitarist, Neco is also a great human being. Thanks Caetano for the chance to present to Loronixers these really hard to find Neco solo releases.
This is Neco - Coquetel Bossa Nova (1963), for CBS. The first Neco solo album, although some reviewers takes Coquetel Bossa Nova as the second Neco album, taking the first as Samba Nova Concepcao (1963), widely associated as an Eumir Deodato LP. I need more clarification on this subject, share your thoughts at comments section, Tracks include:
01 - Jogado Fora (João Mello)
02 - Você (Rildo Hora / Clóvis Mello)
03 - Está Nascendo Um Samba (Tito Madi / Romeo Nunes)
04 - Se Chegou Assim (Othon Russo / Newton Ramalho)

Conjunto Balambossa - Samba ao Vivo
Caetano, please, stop! Please, don't do it to zecalouro. Caetano knows that I get really nervous when I have to show Loronixers any LP from the Label Coledisc. They are pretty hard to speak about. Do yourself a search on Loronix Find It and check by yourself what is already available of Conjunto Balambossa, there are more than a few albums. What amazes myself is that nobody knows exactly the musicians on these disc, each one different from the other. That's right Caetano, to write about Coledisc LPs is like to fly on a plane with no instruments.
This is Conjunto Balambossa - Samba ao Vivo (no date), for Coledisc. Taking in consideration Samba ao Vivo and previous Conjunto Balambossa LPs at Loronix, I feel confident to say that this is the best one, really dancing, with duels between organ and guitar. If you had fun with any previous Balambossas, do not hesitate to take this one. Coledisc label has some followers on this style of saying anything about their albums, such as Nilsen, Distac and the legendary Palladium from Minas Gerais, but nothing compares to Coledisc with the creation of this multi-purpose Conjunto Balambossa. Tracks include:
01 - Samba Triste (Baden Powell / Billy Blanco)
02 - Boato (João Roberto Kelly)
03 - Moeda Quebrada (Luis Reis / Haroldo Barbosa)
04 - Amor e Paz (Tito Madi)
05 - Volta (Luis Bandeira / Djalma Ferreira)
06 - Murmúrio (Djalma Ferreira / Luis Antônio)
07 - Na Roda do Samba (Orlann Divo / Hélton Menezes)
08 - Dizem Por Aí (Manoel da Conceição / Alberto Paz)
09 - Fica Comigo (Luis Antônio)
10 - Falsa Baiana (Geraldo Pereira)
11 - Fiz o Bobão (Haroldo Barbosa / Luis Reis)
12 - Zelão (Sergio Ricardo)

Challenge and Music Video - Edison Machado Quarteto
Today we will blend a challenge with a video, both provided by Luiz Harding. Let's start with the challenge. Gentleman, who are the musicians at the photo you see on top. This is a Bossa Nova Trio from the 60's. Does anybody know?
To end it up, Luiz sent us a video from this collection that is really unique, a excerpt of the movie Cinema é que se Faz featuring O Quarteto de Edison Machado, which is Edison Machado (drums), Aloisio Aguiar (piano) (*), Ion Muniz (sax) and Ricardo Pereira dos Santos (bass). Luiz had a hard time to present us an acceptable image. The video is dark, but the sound is good and you can see Edison Machado and others musicians very clear. Thanks for the gems Luiz.
Hope uEnjoy!

Joni James - Bossa Nova Style (1965)
Here we go again with another release sponsored by Caetano Rodrigues, The Great. Caetano presents this time a female singer and I'm very confident that this post will be a treat for many Loronixers. It was a surprise to see the tremendous feedback given to Pat Thomas and I hope that Joni James hits the same honors gave by Loronixers to Pat Thomas. Let's check another Caetano's gem.
This is Joni James - Bossa Nova Style (1965), for MGM. Hearing Joni James, I sure that you will remember the anthological Julie is her Name, by Julie London. Joni James seems to be from the same school and her interpretation of Bossa Nova is really different. I like Joni James singing and this is a very pleasant LP. Thanks for this one Caetano. Tracks include:
01 - Dindi
02 - I Could Have Danced All Night
03 - September Song
04 - My Foolish Heart
05 - I Wish You Love
06 - While We're Young
07 - I Understand
08 - The Girl from Ipanema

D'Angelo - D'Angelo (1970)
Hello, Good Night! Picture yourself at home with no access to the Internet during 18 hours with your life out there, banking account, emails, customers, etc. I'm making the move to a new service and I hope nobody will be stopping me with this change. Anyway, I'm back again to business and I want to entertain Loronixers before answering tons of emails and others things to do. I will let you with an album from a obscure band from the early 70's that make a great success when their first LP was shown to Loronixers.
This is D'Angelo - D'Angelo (1970), for Equipe. Nobody could tell me details about this group, but they make a great success, especially among European DJs. If you are in the mood of the groovy sounds of the 70's and the Samba Soul scene, which is represented by artists such like Tim Maia, Os Diagonais, Cassiano and others, this is the album that you cannot skip. The repertoire has several well-known tunes, performed by female chorus, probably the ladys at the cover. Tracks include:
01 - Coroné Antônio Bento (Luis Wanderley / João do Vale)
02 - Padre Cícero (Tim Maia / Cassiano)
03 - Curto de Véu e Grinalda (Moraes Moreira / Galvão)
04 - BR 3 (Antônio Adolfo / Tibério Gaspar)
05 - Agora (Ivan Lins / Ronaldo Monteiro de Souza)
06 - Eu Também Quero Mocotó (Jorge Ben "Jorge Benjor")
07 - Cristina (Carlos Imperial / Tim Maia)
08 - Primavera (Cassiano / Silvio Rochael)
09 - Procurando Tú (Antônio Barros / J. Luna)
10 - Azul da Cor do Mar (Tim Maia)

Joao Gilberto - Amoroso (1977)
Joao Gilberto. How long we did not see this legendary artist at Loronix? I don't know and I do not want to know, just because Joao Gilberto is back to Loronix, on a very unique way, selected by Caetano Rodrigues with surgeon gloves. Actually, since Caetano and zecalouro have decided to make a Joao Gilberto album, there was some dispute to decide the right pick to Loronixers. My choice was another LP. However, when Caetano said this is the one with the extraordinary Joao Gilberto rendition for Estate, it was automatically decided, discussion over, this is one of the songs that I like most from Joao Discography and I'm sure you will also enjoy it, including the video bellow.
This is Joao Gilberto - Amoroso (1977), for WEA, 39 minutes of perfection, divided in 8 tracks. Joao Gilberto music is to be listened with speakerphones, alone and with the lights out. There is nothing like his voice, perfect voice, such like an instrument, flawless and gorgeous. Amoroso is arranged by Claus Ogerman and was a serious candidate to win a Grammy Award of the best album in a late 70's edition. Caetano asked zecalouro to research for more details on it. Sorry friend, I'm hearing the master right now and I'm paralyzed. I can only move my fingers. Loronixers can make that this time. Tracks include:
01 - 's Wonderful (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin)
02 - Estate (Bruno Martino / Bruno Brighetti)
03 - Tim Tim Por Tim Tim (Haroldo Barbosa / Geraldo Jacques)
04 - Besame Mucho (Consuelo Velasquez)
05 - Wave (Tom Jobim)
06 - Caminho Cruzados (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
07 - Triste (Tom Jobim)
08 - Zingaro (Tom Jobim / Chico Buarque)

Djalma Ferreira e os Milionarios do Ritmo - Drink no Rio de Janeiro (1959)
Hello, Good Night! Thanks a million for the feedback given to Recordando Carlinhos Guinle, a great release sponsored by Caetano, our pick as yesterday's closing post. Some additional info, Sylvinha Telles track Voce Nao Sabe Amar was record only for this session and something that I had to highlight and forgot is the participation of the socialite Tereza de Souza Campos, responsible for neck pains on folks when she passed by Copacabana sidewalks at that time.
Let's start this Monday with the first contribution of our friend Moos from The Netherlands. Moos was in Rio de Janeiro to spend Carnaval and I had a chance to get along with Moos on a day. Moos is a great guy with an immense love to the music from Brazil. He gave to zecalouro a gift, which is something that I was looking for, a pen drive, 1Gb capacity, with several records from his personal collection inside. This is the first Moos pick, taken from the pen drive. Thanks Moos.
This is Djalma Ferreira e os Milionarios do Ritmo - Drink no Rio de Janeiro (1959), for Discos Drink, the kind of record that should please everybody, featuring several artists that got renowned in the 60's. Drink was a nightclub in Rio de Janeiro and also a record label. Those who never had the chance to see a Drink LP are missing a design work. Drink LPs are beautiful, with several pictures inside and a cover that opens such like a panel. When I get one, I will make some complete photos to share with Loronixers. Drink no Rio de Janeiro crooner is Miltinho. See personnel listing for others. Tracks include:

Varios Artistas - Recordando Carlinhos Guinle (1963)
This is not a regular post; this is a very special post. I was saving this LP for a later time and something on may mind says that this is the special day. This is another album provided by Caetano Rodrigues to our community. I did not have the idea of its existence and since this LP arrived at Loronix I've been searching for additional info.
I'm confident to say that this is a extremely rare LP. We are having at Loronix a once in a lifetime opportunity to get in touch with all this magical music by the hands of Caetano Rodrigues, hands of a friend that spend a great amount of his personal time and family life to select music, prepare copies, take cover scan copies on a labor of passion for the music from Brazil and for our community. Thanks Caetano for all the music, friendship and respect you have by our website and all the friends that I use to call Loronixers.
It has been a time since I was willing to make this statement; Caetano is providing music, knowledge and happiness to everybody, it is time to say thanks to a great friend of Loronix.
This is Recordando Carlinhos Guinle - Various Artists (1963), for Philips, featuring Tereza de Souza Campos, Jacques Klein, Sylvia Telles, Tamba Trio, Dorival Caymmi, Hugo Lima and Luli Oswald. Excelent. My research could not go further, but I think some of the tracks performed by Sylvia Telles, Dorival Caymmi and Tamba Trio were only released on this LP.
This record is a tribute to Carlos Guinle, member of an influent family in Brazil, founder of the legendary Copacabana Palace Hotel. Carlinhos Guinle has died very early at the age of 37 in 1956. Since then, Carlinhos Guinle compositions has been recorded by many renowned artists, although he always considers himself an amateur composer, he is the author of Sabado em Copacabana (Carlos Guinle / Dorival Caymmi), considered by many an early Bossa Nova tune. Tracks Include:
01 - Não Tem Solução (Dorival Caymmi / Carlinhos Guinle) - Tereza de Souza Campos
02 - Choro (Carlos Guinle / Hugo Lima) - Tamba Trio
03 - Valerá a Pena (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle / Hugo Lima) - Jacques Klein
04 - Sábado Em Copacabana (Carlos Guinle / Dorival Caymmi) - Silvinha Telles
05 - Nesta Rua Tão Deserta (Carlos Guinle / Hugo Lima / Jacques Klein) - Dorival Caymmi / Hugo Lima
06 - Sambão (Carlos Guinle / Jacques Klein) - Tamba Trio
07 - Tão Só (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle) - Tereza de Souza Campos
08 - Nesta Rua Tão Deserta (Carlos Guinle / Hugo Lima / Jacques Klein) - Jacques Klein
09 - Você Não Sabe Amar (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle / Hugo Lima) - Silvinha Telles
10 - Berceuse (Gilda Guinle) - Luli Oswald

Ely Arcoverde - O Orgao que Canta Sambas Vol. 2 (1963)
Now is easy to gather information on earlier posts using Loronix Find It! This was an example. I have this record available for posting a long time ago and I could check very fast if it was not already at Loronix using Find It! I'm still with a big Internet problem down here; I spoke about it with Caetano a couple of minutes ago. The music I was planning to make it today is still being uploaded. It is now 11pm and the upload has started at 7pm.
This is Ely Arcoverde - O Orgao que Canta Sambas Vol. 2 (1963), for RGE, a very early Ely Arcoverde LP and artist that is already known by Loronixers from a nice contribution of Caetano Rodrigues, one of the first ones from Caetano and from a very old one, made in August, 2006. Did you see how easy it is to maximize your Loronix experience with Find It! I'm also a Find It! Power user. Tracks include:
01 - Cidade Maravilhosa (André Filho)
02 - Madame Fulano de Tal (Cyro Monteiro / Dias da Cruz)
03 - O Samba da Minha Terra (Dorival Caymmi)
04 - Eu Sem Maria (Alcyr Pires Vermelho / Dorival Caymmi)

Music Video | Tamba Trio - Batida Diferente
This is the first video I had the chance to see with a performance of the mighty Tamba Trio from Luiz Eca. Using my limited Tamba Trio knowledge I could not identify the year of the performance or at least a reasonable approximation for it.
I will let with you to find out personnel and performance date. This video was kindly sent by Luiz Harding and it is the first out of a very nice series. Luiz Harding is a serious researcher of the Brazilian drummer Edison Machado, being the owner and maintainer of a website dedicated to this Brazilian legend. Have a try at Luiz tribute to Edison Machado, here (http://edisonmachado.blogspot.com).
Hope uEnjoy!

Bill Barron Orchestra - West Side Story Bossa Nova (1963)
Here we go again with another of those nice Caetano's tricks finding gold on records that would be not taken in consideration by regular humans. Now Caetano comes with the OST of an anthological movie film from the 60's that is all about Bossa Nova and Brazilian Music.
This is Bill Barron Orchestra - West Side Story Bossa Nova (1963), for Dauntless, the soundtrack of the musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in New York City, where rival street gangs - the Jets and the Sharks - battle for territory and respect. Bill Barron Orchestra takes the lead here, making a unique record, with a nice rhythm session making use of Brazilian percussion instruments on an unusual manner. You should check this out by your own. Tracks include:
01 - Something is Coming
02 - One Hand, One Heart
03 - Gee, Officer Krupke
04 - Cool
05 - Maria
06 - Tonight
07 - America
08 - I Feel Pretty
09 - Jet Song
10 - Somewhere

Claudya e Zimbo Trio - Entre Amigos (1994)
Hello, Good Night! It is nighttime by looking through my window to stare the sky with stars, however, I feel like in the morning. I slept very well this night taking also some naps during the day. Thanks for the great feedback given to Loronix Find It! I'm very happy to give an alternative to the Archives labyrinth.
That's right! Being straightforward, we have here the first contribution from a Loronixer that does not want to be identified, let's call him Mr. EB from now on. Mr. EB brings one of the instrumental groups we like most, supporting a great singer of the old times.
This is Claudya e Zimbo Trio - Entre Amigos (1994), for Movieplay, including 4 additional tracks only available at the CD version, which is the one sent by Mr. EB to Loronixers. It will be very nice to check a late work of Claudya, credited with the letter Y instead of U as we are used to read and Zimbo Trio. Mr. EB asks Loronixers to listen track one, Beatriz, very carefully as one of his favorite at this album. Tracks include:
01 - Beatriz (Edu Lobo / Chico Buarque)
02 - Tico-tico no Fubá (Zequinha de Abreu / Eurico Barreiros)
03 - Lamentos (Pixinguinha / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - De Frente Pro Crime (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc)
05 - Upa Neguinho (Edu Lobo / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri)
06 - Da Cor do Pecado (Bororó)
07 - Brasileirinho (Waldir Azevedo)
08 - Cantiga Por Luciana (Edmundo Souto / Paulinho Tapajós)
09 - Fé Cega Faca Amolada (Milton Nascimento / Ronaldo Bastos)
10 - É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
11 - Odeon (Ernesto Nazareth / Ubaldo Sciangula)
12 - Bala Com Bala (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc)
13 - Falsa Baiana (Geraldo Pereira)
14 - Domingo no Parque (Gilberto Gil)
15 - Clareteando (Cláudia)
16 - Kid Cavaquinho (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc)

Garoto - Garoto + Sexteto (1966)
Just some additional information about the new Loronix Find It! application. I received some emails of friends addressing some issues; It was defined that posts available at Loronix first page are not available at Loronix Find It!, Other common issue are the music videos, they were not loaded at this initial phase and I think it is a good idea to have them all inside. Let's wait for the new version. Don't forget to share your feedback on Find It! we need that to improve each aspect of our community.
Back to business, sorry to Music! If you search our database for this record you will find it and we are making a repost, I guarantee that this is a mandatory repost, the first release had some corrupted tracks and this is a very hard to find record. My hope to find it on perfect condition was lost. Caetano send it to Loronixers with a uncommon CD quality. Let's see what we have.
This is Garoto - Garoto + Sexteto (1966), for Farroupilha, not to be taken as the violonist Garoto (Anibal Augusto Sardinha) from the last post Garoto Revive em Alta Fidelidade Ary Barroso (1957). This is about Altivo Penteado, Brazilian vibraphone and piano player, also known as Garoto. I think this release is self-explanatory and I invite the friends that never had the chance to hear this album and also the ones who made it already to make a try, the music is beautiful and you will not go wrong with it. Tracks include:
