Someone should tell tcisalpino that I don't have 20 years. It is dangerous, especially with a favorite of us, Lucio Alves. That's what tcisalpino delivers today, a major update on a very hard to find original vinyl issue. Additionally, I'm delivering a video, with 9 minutes runtime, featuring Lucio Alves and Trio LM (which I never heard about) at Ensaio, TV Cultura, kindly sent by Pedro Mendes. You can reach Pedro anytime at pmend44@hotmail.com. He is opened for trading.
This is Lucio Alves - Lucio Alves, Sua Voz Intima, Sua Bossa Nova, Interpretando Sambas em 3-D (1959), for Odeon, the first album recorded by Lucio Alves in the 12-inch format. I will keep my first writing this time. Lucio Alves is really nice, thanks tcisalpino. Do not miss the video.
First writing:
On my searches to prepare the first Lucio Alves release, TioSamba, Musica Americana em Bossa Nova, I read that Antonio Carlos Jobim said that Lucio Alves was a singer ahead of his time, additionally, Lucio Alves was the first person to listen to Joao Gilberto LPs, taken by the own Joao as soon as they get finished.
Two strong statements from two legends. TioSamba was really nice, but when I took this one for a try, I confess that these statements are not exaggerated. In my humble opinion, Lucio Alves is one of the greatest Brazilian. I don't know why, his singing his really captivating. Do not ask me what is a Samba in 3-D, perhaps some mania in the late 50's. Lucio Alves is backed by orchestra, directed and conducted by Lyrio Panicali. Tracks include:
01 - Lá Vem a Baiana (Dorival Caymmi)
02 - Se Acaso Você Chegasse (Lupicínio Rodrigues / Felisberto Martins)
03 - Boa Noite Amor (José Maria de Abreu / Francisco Matoso)
04 - Nem Eu (Dorival Caymmi)
05 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Menino de Braçanã (Luis Vieira / Arnaldo Passos)
07 - Agora É Cinza (Alcebíades Barcelos "Bide" / Armando "Marçal")
08 - Laura (Alcyr Pires Vermelho / João de Barro)
09 - Estrada do Sol (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
10 - Conceição (Dunga / Jair Amorim)
11 - Beija-me (Roberto Martins / Mário Rossi)

Olivia - Anjo Vadio (1980)
Hello, good evening! This is a really solid start for this Friday, an album that easily deserves a closing post, but I'm so excited with this music that I could not wait longer to show Loronixers. This is the second solo LP of this truly awesome Brazilian singer that started as member of the Brazilian progressive band A Barca do Sol. By this time, Olivia Byington had the artistic name of Olivia, which makes me feel confused sometimes with Francis Hime wife, Olivia Hime. This is a pretty solid record. Let's see.
This is Olivia - Anjo Caido (1980), for Som Livre, never released on CD and a very difficult to find album. I'm sure you will remember Olivia Byington participation as singer on Encontro, an album recorded live together with Turibio Santos, Paulo Moura and Clara Sverner. Encontro was almost chamber music, but Anjo Caido was recorded at a time Olivia Byington was still pursuing a career as a MPB singer. I think she made the right decision; Olivia Byington is a really gifted singer that performs wonderfully on classical and popular music. Anjo Vadio has also a beautiful participation of Egberto Gismonti at 10 - Mais Clara, Mais Crua, playing piano to Olivia Byington singing. Really breathtaking, you should not miss this one. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Anjo Vadio (Olivia Byington / Geraldo Carneiro)
02 - Onde o Sol Bate e Se Firma (Luis Melodia)
03 - Olha a Lua (John Neschling / Geraldo Carneiro)
04 - Lua Branca (Olivia Byington / Charles)
05 - Uva de Caminhão (Assis Valente)
06 - Dengo Tengo (Luli / Lucina)
07 - Doce de Pimenta (Rita Lee / Roberto de Carvalho)
08 - Primeiro Jornal (Sueli Costa / Abel Silva)
09 - Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos (Nando Carneiro / Geraldo Carneiro)
10 - Mais Clara Mais Crua (Egberto Gismonti / Geraldo Carneiro) with Egberto Gismonti
This is Olivia - Anjo Vadio (1980), at Loronix, here.
FLAC files are also available here as part ONE and TWO.
Attention: A fix to track 10 - Mais Clara, Mais Crua is now available as MP3 and FLAC with direct link.
Hope uEnjoy!

Bossa 3 - Os Reis do Ritmo (1966)
I told you on Bob Fleming post that tcisalpino was uploading another contribution, however, I did not realize he was making this one. I'm surprised. This album was made available in the very first beginning of Loronix and such as Bossa Joe, I never understood why nobody left comments on it. Perhaps it was the low quality ripping offered at that time, but this is not a issue now, tcisalpino delivered FLAC files taken from a remastered CD reissue and once again offers this music to Loronix community.
This is Bossa 3 - Os Reis do Ritmo (1966), for Odeon, featuring the second Os Bossa Três line-up with Luiz Carlos Vinhas, the Loronix friend Ronie Mesquita and Octavio Baily. Another self-explanatory release. I'm not making large cover scans of back cover this time, if someone has the first vinyl issue and wants to contribute with these scans, our community really appreciates. Additionally, I'm reposting a video sent by Luiz Harding featuring Os Bossa Tres at Praia do Arpoador in Rio de Janeiro, just in case someone miss it. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Onde Anda o Meu Amor (Orlann Divo / Roberto Jorge)
02 - Até o Sol Raiar (Baden Powell / Vinícius De Moraes)
03 - Não me Diga Adeus (Paquito / Luiz Soberano / João Corrêa Da Silva)
04 - Coisa Mais Linda (Carlos Lyra / Vinícus De Moraes)
05 - É (Luiz Carlos Vinhas / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
06 - Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sérgio Valle)
07 - Le Bateau (Luiz Carlos Vinhas)
08 - Silk Stop (João Donato)
09 - Exaltação a Mangueira (Enéias Brites Da Silva / Aloisio Augusto Da Costa)

Bob Fleming - Jovens Enamorados (1965)
Hello, good evening! Thanks for the nice response given to yesterday’s tcisalpino contribution to our community. By the way, tcisalpino is so kind that he is right now managing another release for today, equivalent to yesterday's Rio 65 Trio. Really great, I cannot wait longer until his upload finishes. Meanwhile we cannot go wrong with another favorite of Loronixers, Bob Fleming, also known as Moacyr Silva featuring this fantastic and weird cover of a sax inside a tunnel. Let's see.
This is Bob Fleming - Jovens Enamorados (1965), for Musidisc. Actually, I'm making a 1971 reissue by Phonodisc, exactly the same album first issued by Musidisc. I don't know Musidisc's cover artwork, but this Phonodisc cover with a sax inside a tunnel is really amazing. Bob Fleming / Moacyr Silva delivers an international repertoire on side A and Brazilian songs on side B. Tracks include:
01 - I Left My Heart In San Francisco (Cross / Cory)
02 - Blú (Cesari / Savilla / Mongol)
03 - Le Bateau Blanc (Vitalin / Gilbert Bécaud)
04 - Call Me Irresponsible (J. V. Heusen / S. Cahn)
05 - Dos Perdidos (Nilo Sergio)
06 - I Could Have Danced All Night (A. J. Lerner / F. Loewe)
07 - O Sol Nascerá (Cartola / Élton Medeiros)
08 - Nem Uma Luz Brilhou (Gilvan Chaves)
09 - Diga Que Sim (Silvio César)
10 - Canção Para Um Homem no Espaço (Nilo Sergio)
11 - É Demais (Nonato Buzar)
12 - O Amor do Amor (Luis Bittencourt / Alberto Paz)

Rio 65 Trio - Rio 65 Trio (1965)
From now on, I will announce my future plans at Loronix, such as I did a couple of days ago. I said I was looking for high quality media of some essential records already available at Loronix. The response came very fast this time, tcisalpino is the fast fish; he read my comment and decided to please our community with FLAC files, the second contribution in the new format. tcisalpino says that RIO 65 Trio is a present to our community. Let's thanks him.
This is Rio 65 Trio - Rio 65 Trio (1965), for Philips, one of the greatest Samba Jazz album ever recorded featuring Dom Salvador, Edison Machado and Sergio Barroso. Do I need to say more? I don't think so. This is the kind of album I would select to stay in the front page when leaving to a vacation. Thanks once again tcisalpino. Friends who are new to our community, don't think twice, this album should be listed on every serious list of top records of any kind. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Meu Fraco é Café Forte (Dom Salvador)
02 - Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sérgio Valle)
03 - Farjuto (Dom Salvador)
04 - Desafinado (Newton Mendonça / Tom Jobim)

Antonio Maria - Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira Nr. 36 (1971)
I'm really amazed by this series of 10-inch released by Abril Cultural in the early 70's as Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira. The first album with made with Billy Blanco had a really positive reaction. The repertoire selection is very well done and the eight-track format provides a really solid listening experience. It is now time to make the second, featuring a very important artist, a songwriter of Bossa Nova tunes that we like most. Let's see.
This is Antonio Maria - Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira Nr. 36 (1971), for Abril Cultural, featuring Antonio Maria compositions performed by Nora Ney, Maria Bethania, Dolores Duran, Joao Gilberto, Os Cariocas, Sylvia Telles and Dircinha Batista. I think this is a nice choice, Antonio Maria had a very important participation on Bossa Nova with no recording releases, let's celebrate Antonio Maria. Tracks include:

01 - Ninguém Me Ama (Antônio Maria / Fernando Lobo) - Nora Ney
02 - Frevo Nº 2 do Recife (Antônio Maria) - Maria Bethânia

Tia Amelia com a Banda Vila Rica - Velhas Estampas (1959)
Hello, good evening! I'm really late today, busy and also dueling with my Internet connection since yesterday. Sorry for using Loronix to say such things, but I really feel better sharing, instead of pretending that everything is fine. The quality of services in Brazil has been a tragedy, getting worse everyday. Anyway, let's talk about happy things now.
This album is all about happiness, it is the first album recorded by this extraordinary Brazilian pianist and composer, Amelia Brandao Neri, also known as Tia Amelia. Last year we made her last album, released in 1980 when Tia Amelia had the age of 83. You can see part of Tia Amelia LP photo in your left and reach her last album here.
This is Tia Amelia com a Banda Vila Rica - Velhas Estampas (1959), for Odeon, a nice and late first album by Tia Amelia, featuring only compositions of her own. The album title was taken from a TV show hosted by Tia Amelia in TV-RIO, where Tia Amelia played piano and remembered stories from the old time. Velhas Estampas brings nice music to Loronixers, really different from everything we are used to hear. Tracks include:
01 - Bordões ao Luar (Tia Amélia)
02 - No Passo (Tia Amélia)
03 - Sorriso de Bruno (Tia Amélia)
04 - Recordando Pattápio (Tia Amélia)
05 - Coco de Alagoas (Tia Amélia)
06 - Carmélia (Tia Amélia)
07 - Chora Coração (Tia Amélia)
08 - Presidente Carmona (Tia Amélia)
09 - Dois Namorados (Tia Amélia)
10 - Gratidão (Tia Amélia)
11 - Sem Nome (Tia Amélia)
12 - Dulce (Tia Amélia)

Tito Madi - Cancao de Amor | A Fossa Vol. 4 (1974)
Yesterday, my Internet connection got lost in the middle of the night and I could not make the final post of the day, being back only a couple of hours ago. That's why I'm back in the middle of this Wednesday to show friends another recorded by Tito Madi in the "A Fossa" series, the last album from the sequel. Let's see.
This is Tito Madi - Cancao de Amor | A Fossa Vol. 4 (1974), for London. It was nice to hear Tito Madi rendition to Sangue Latino, a 1974 blockbuster by Secos e Molhados, he made it really different from the original. Little I know about personnel in this recording session and it seems it is a rule at the sequel, although we could not check what we have at A Fossa Vol. 2, which is the one with the nicest cover. Tracks include:
01 - Canção de Amor (Elano de Paula / Chocolate)
02 - Até Quem Sabe (Mercedes Chies / João Donato / Lysias Ênio)
03 - Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
04 - Pede Passagem (Sidney Miller)
05 - Nada Mais Lindo (Tito Madi)
06 - Sangue Latino (João Ricardo / Paulinho Mendonça)
07 - Suas Mãos (Antônio Maria / Pernambuco)

Challenge | Rio de Janeiro photo (1966)
Wow! The last Sacha Rubin post made me feel missing Rio de Janeiro from the old times, a challenge should make you also feel in my mood. I want to know several things about this nice photo taken in 1966.
1) The name of the restaurant in the background
2) The Car, what a car, who knows the name of this car
3) Who is the nice girl on top of this car?
I will tell later on where we will find more photos like this one.
The Answers:
1) Bar Restaurante Castelinho, owned by Sacha Rubin.
2) I don't have a clue, probably JimR made it right.
3) The nice girl is the Brazilian journalist Hildegard Angel.
Hope uEnjoy!

Sacha Rubin - No Balaio (1967)
This is the third album from the pianist Sacha Rubin at Loronix. Sacha was also the owner of the legendary Sacha's nightclub, in Rio de Janeiro, Leme, open for business throughout decades in the building left to mine. This album has a great difference from the others already released, it was recorded live, on a manner that you hear people talking to each other and the sounds of the nightclub routine such like glasses hitting each other, people calling waiters, etc. Let's see.
This is Sacha Rubin - No Balaio (1967), for London, featuring Sacha piano and not credited crooners, probably nightclub guests singing together with Sacha at the piano. In spite the music, this cover alone deserves to be at Loronix, truly beautiful and ahead of time. The repertoire features two big medleys. Tracks include:
Side A
01 - Manhattan (R. Rodgers / L. Hart)
02 - You're My Everything (Discon / Young / Warren)
03 - This Is My Song (Charles Chaplin)
04 - Marie Marie (Charles Trenet / Chauliac)
05 - I Left My Heart In San Francisco (D. Cross / G. Cory)
06 - Red Roses For a Blue Lady (S. Tepper / R. Brodsky)
07 - Apelo (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Quem Te Viu Quem Te Vê (Chico Buarque)
09 - As Time Goes By (H. Hupfeld)
10 - Autumn In New York (V. Duke)
11 - Que Reste-t-il de nos Amours (Charles Trenet / L. Wilson)
Side B
01 - Wien Wien Nur Du Allein (R. Sieczynisk)
02 - Rossana (Sette Uomini D'oro) (A. Trovajoli / S. Simoni)
03 - Somewhere My Love (M. Jarre / Paul Francis Webster)
04 - The Shadow Of You Smile (J. Mandel / Paul Francis Webster)
05 - Darling Je Vous Aime Beaucoup (A. Sosenko)
06 - Chez Moi (Sievier / Feline / Misraki)
07 - Danke Schoen (Kaempfert / Ilene)
08 - I Get a Kick Out Of You (Cole Porter)
09 - Amor de Carnaval (Zé Keti)
10 - Roses Of Picardy (H. Wood / F. E. Weatherly)
11 - I'll See You In My Dreams (I. Jones / G. Kahn)

In spite the music, this cover alone deserves to be at Loronix, truly beautiful and ahead of time. The repertoire features two big medleys. Tracks include:

Sexteto Espetacular - Para Sua Festa (1959)
Hello, good evening! I want to start today with a great find, which is an obscure group assembled by Copacabana label in 1959, probably to give a response to Prestige and other record labels that were making a lot of money with their releases in the Para Dancar style. Copacabana created Sexteto Espetacular, featuring not credited musicians from their cast to deliver this album, really above the others.
This is Sexteto Espetacular - Para Sua Festa (1959), for Copacabana. Little I know about Sexteto Espetacular, except it is the first and only album released by this sextet of not credited musicians that includes, piano, bass, drums, guitar, vibes and accordion performing a repertoire of Brazilian and international standards grouped as four medleys. Tracks include:
01 - Viva o Samba (Altamiro Carrilho)
02 - Exaltação a Bahia (Vicente Paiva / Chianca de Garcia)
03 - Casadinhos (Luis Bittencourt / Tuiú)
04 - É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)

MPB-4 - Antologia (1974)
This is in response of a friend who shouted at CBox for MPB-4 Antologia. I thought he was wrong, taking Quarteto em Cy - Antologia do Samba Cancao by mistake. I was a surprise to confirm MPB-4 Antologia existence and also to realize the album follows the same concept of Quarteto em Cy equivalent. Actually, MPB-4 Antologia was released one year before Quarteto em Cy both volumes. This is really nice. Everyday I learn a new thing at Loronix. Let's see.
This is MPB-4 - Antologia (1974), for Philips, featuring medleys of selected artists, such like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ismael Silva, Paulinho da Viola, Baden Powell and others. Quarteto em Cy has a major participation on Monsueto, Chico Buarque and Ataulfo Alves medleys. Antologia is really a great find; very nice to known it is predecessor of Quarteto em Cy. Dick Farney & Lucio Alves - Serie Idolos da MPB Nr. 6 (1974)
Friends are asking why the 78-rpm records are not coming anymore. I'm sorry to give this answer, but I ran out of 78-rpms, not a major problem since friends are looking for new records and some contribution are scheduled to arrive in the forthcoming weeks. Meanwhile, let's remember the 78 rpm posts with this fantastic contribution sent by cvllos, great friend of zecalouro and a lucky LP hunter. Let's see.
This is Dick Farney & Lucio Alves - Serie Idolos da MPB Nr. 6 (1974), for Continental, also known as "Relevo". cvllos contribution was very useful to understand "Relevo" series, in most cases featuring Continental compilations of 78 rpm. The folks at Continental made a very nice work with this one, delivering side A with Dick Farney and side B with Lucio Alves. There are several details to highlight on each track, such as the participation of Antonio Carlos Jobim e Seu Conjunto at 12 - Casinha Pequena and a Dick Farney track recorded in Argentina with Jorge Kenny and orchestra. Do not miss track list with complimentary information. Tracks include:
Dick Farney
01 - Copacabana (1946) (Joao de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro) - Eduardo Patane e Sua Orquestra de Cordas
02 - Somos Dois (1948) (A. Cavalcanti / Klecius / L. Antonio) - Jose Maria e Sua Orquestra

06 - Alguem Como Tu (1952) (Jose Maria de Abreu / Jair Amorim) - Jorge Kenny (organ) and Orchestra (recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Lucio Alves

Les 4 Cadillacs - Doucement, Cherie (1962)
Here we go on what is gradually becoming a mania, Les 4 Cadillacs. Several friends are requesting this third release, made today as an additional post to the regular three daily releases. Let's see.
This is Les 4 Cadillacs - Doucement, Cherie (1962), for Musidisc. Remembering that Les 4 Cadillacs is Ed Lincoln at piano backed by not credited musicians on bass, drums and guitar. Once again, Les 4 Cadillacs delivers anxiolytic renditions of American and French songs, starting and ending with Sweet Melody (Jean Paques). I'm showing a reissue made in 1971 by Replay label, instead of the original Musidisc. The cover is much better and the vinyl perfect. Tracks include:
01 - Sweet Melody (J. Paques)
02 - Nessuno Al Mondo (Rastelli / Gioia)
03 - Georgia On My Mind (H. Carmichael)
04 - Pepe (H. Wittstatt)
05 - Non Dimenticar (P. G. Redi / M. Galdieri)
06 - Maria (L. Bernstein / S. Sondheim)
07 - Aimer Comme Je T'aime (H. Giraud)
08 - I Can't Stop Loving You (D. Gibson)
09 - When You Wish Upon a Star (N. Whashington / L. Harline)
10 - Quando (Tenco)
11 - A Foogy Day (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin)
12 - C'este Magnifique (Cole Porter)
13 - Non Partire (Bracchi / D'Anzi)
14 - Sweet Melody (J. Paques)`

Cid Gray e Sua Orquestra - Samba, Samba, Samba...
Hello, good evening! Let's start the day with a contribution by Mauro R.V., an enthusiast of orchestra and Para Dancar albums. Mauro delivers to us a great finding, an album recorded by Maestro Cid Gray that even our specialist Caetano Rodrigues never heard about. Additionally, this is the second Cid Gray album at Loronix and the first by the tiny lable BSA, as BSA-001. Let's see.
This is Cid Gray e Sua Orquestra - Samba, Samba, Samba (no date), for BSA, which is probably a RGE reissue, since BSA is a RGE subsidiary. Release date is unknown, but I think it is around 1959 to 1962. Thanks once again Mauro R.V., this should make the day of Caetano Rodrigues and countless fans of orchestra style at Loronix. Tracks include:
01 - Este seu olhar (Tom Jobim)
02 - Sofro (Nelson Alves / Verinha Falcão)
03 - Recado (Djalma Ferreira / Luiz Antonio)
04 - Vai, mas vai mesmo (Ataulfo Alves)
05 - Levanta Mangueira (Luiz Antonio)
06 - Meditação (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
07 - Cheiro de saudade (Djalma Ferreira / Luiz Antonio)
08 - Lamento (Djalma Ferreira / Luiz Antonio)
09 - Chega de saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)

Elizeth Cardoso, Radames Gnattali & Camerata Carioca - Uma Rosa para Pixinguinha - Live (1983)
There are several reasons for making this repost, but I will stay with the most important ones. This is the third album posted at Loronix, featuring Elizeth Cardoso, an artist with a great identification with this website. Additionally, as a very old post and an excellent album, deserves more visibility. The upgrade covers everything, such like improved scans, additional inserts, ripping, etc.
This is Elizeth Cardoso, Radames Gnattali & Camerata Carioca - Uma Rosa para Pixinguinha (1983), for Funarte, a tribute to Pixinguinha in the tenth anniversary of his passing, recorded live at Sala Funarte Sidney Miller, Rio de Janeiro. I think this album speaks by itself, a concert on a small theater that makes you feel the willing to travel back to the past and watch Elizeth Cardoso and Radames Gnattali performing together. Tracks include:
Track List

Gilson Peranzzetta (piano) & Arthur Maia (contrabaixo) - Tom & Villa (1986)
Here we go on another album connecting Brazilian Popular and Classical music, featuring a tribute to the greatest artists on each side, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Heitor Villa Lobos. I think this album is rather unknown by Loronixers, it was released by Coca Cola Beverage company to be distributed to clients and never was made available commercially.
Coca Cola released this album to homage Heitor Villa Lobos on his 100th anniversary, celebrated in 1986, inviting Gilson Peranzzetta (piano) and Arthur Maia (bass), backed by the special guests Ze Nogueira (sax soprano) and Amando Marcal (percussion). Let's see.
This is Gilson Peranzzetta (piano) & Arthur Maia (contrabaixo) - Tom & Villa (1986), for Coca Cola, featuring four instrumental renditions of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Heitor Villa Lobos Music. Gilson Peranzzetta is also musical director and arranger, being also responsible for creating Jobinianas Nr. 1 and 2, Antonio Carlos Jobim compositions blended with excerpts of Villa Lobos music) and Viva Villa Nr. 1 and 2, Villa Lobos music blended with excerpts of Antonio Carlos Jobim compositions. Ze Nogueira is listed as special guest, but really makes the difference delivering nice sax playing. Tracks include:

Astor Silva & Oswaldo Borba - Metais em Brasa no Samba (1962)
Hello, good evening! Let's start this Sunday showing Loronixers a kind of album that is not been released for several weeks, an orchestra album with renditions of Brazilian standards in the Samba style. Brazilian maestros such like Portinho (the best in the style), Carioca and Zaccarias delivered several ones in the 60's, but this one is different, featuring two Maestros, both credited as the main performers. Let's see.
This is Astor Silva & Oswaldo Borba - Metais em Brasa no Samba (1962), for Philips, featuring Astor Silva in charge of arrangements and Oswaldo Borba as orchestra director and conductor. I'm having a special pleasure to show this album, a Loronix friend from Hungary wrote me today asking support for the creation of an international Astor Silva fan club. He said he could only know Astor Silva with Loronix and he is now crazy for recordings and anything else from the Maestro. This is fantastic and I will keep Loronixers informed as he better develop the idea. Tracks include:
01 - Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
02 - Brasiliana Nº 1 (Astor Silva)
03 - Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Arrasta a Sandália (Osvaldo Vasques "Baiaco" / Aurélio Gomes)
05 - Chora Tua Tristeza (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
06 - O Que É Que a Baiana Tem (Dorival Caymmi)
07 - O Samba da Minha Terra (Dorival Caymmi)
08 - Palhaçada (Haroldo Barbosa / Luis Reis)
09 - Minha Palhoça (J. Cascata)
10 - A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
11 - Menina Moça (Luis Antônio)
12 - Maracangalha (Dorival Caymmi)

Milton Banana Trio - Tipo Exportacao (Samba e Isso) Vol. 2 (1978)
I'm really happy with this Samba Saturday day, three solid releases covering different Samba styles. We started with Marchinhas de Carnaval, performed by several Brazilian artists, with some of them never spoke before, then we moved to the 70's, showing Sonia Lemos and her third album for Continental, based on Samba de Raiz with Afro-Brazilian influences and the great finish with an artist that everybody likes, the legendary Milton Banana Trio. Three solid released very different to each other.
This is Milton Banana Trio - Tipo Exportacao (Samba e Isso) Vol. 2 (1978), for RCA Pure Gold. This cover alone worth the admission price, but there is another very nice finding on this album, Milton Banana sings for the first time on recording and he sings the last track, a medley with Milton's tribute to Joao Gilberto. Personnel is not credited, but Milton Banana also writes liner notes and say special thanks to Maestro Cido Bianchi (in charge of arrangements), the bassist Claudio, the guitarist Heraldo and Edson. I'm not sure if they take part on this session. Tracks include:
01 - Oi Compadre (Martinho da Vila)
02 - Olho Por Olho (Daniel Santos / Zé do Maranhão)
03 - Qual É a do Boi (Herval Rios / Beto Sem Braço)
04 - Saco de Feijão (Francisco Santana)
05 - Ilha de Maré (Walmir Lima / Lupa)
06 - Eu Sou Bicho Homem (Otacílio / Ari do Cavaco)
07 - Tigresa (Caetano Veloso)
08 - Coisa da Antiga (Wilson Moreira / Nei Lopes)
09 - Propagas (Jorge Lucas)
10 - Por Que Será (Jorge Di)
11 - Ai Que Vontade (Dão / Beto Sem Braço)
12 - De Tombar Caminhão (Benito di Paula)
13 - "Ao Meu Amigo João" A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) Doralice (Dorival Caymmi / Antônio Almeida) Bim Bom (João Gilberto) Aos Pés da Cruz (Marino Pinto / Zé da Zilda) Izaura (Herivelto Martins / Roberto Roberti)

Sonia Lemos - Perola de Agonita (1976)
Let's move forward with the Samba Saturday posts showing an artist released in the end of 2006 with her debut LP, Sonia Lemos - Sonia Lemos e Sua Viola Enluarada (1968), the one with Sonia Lemos at Copacabana beach in your left. It is a very nice album with Sonia Lemos performing as a Bossa Nova singer. If you see this cover, it is easy to understand that Sonia Lemos made a shift from Bossa Nova to Samba de Raiz music with Afro-Brazilian religion influence, such like Clara Nunes and Beth Carvalho. Let's see.
This is Sonia Lemos - Perola de Agonita (1976), for Continental, featuring Sonia Lemos 8 years after her successful debut LP. Definitively, she is also a great Samba interpreter, but not in the first tier, such as Clara Nunes. I could not find much information about Sonia Lemos to bring more clarification on her shift, but Pedra de Agonita is solid, like any other recording in the style and counts with a constellation of Brazilian musicians. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Pérola de Agonitá (Gerson Alves / Mhariazzinha) [2]
02 - Bambeia (Noca / Edinho Biólogo) [2]

04 - Ponto Cem Réis (Jaime Harmonia / J. Aragão) [2]
