Hello, good evening! I want to show today a requested artist, very important, but unfortunately somewhat forgotten. Not a musician this time, but a gifted composer, with songs recorded by almost all major Brazilian music artists, which recorded only three albums, and sadly left this world too soon, at 35 years of age. Sidney Miller. Let's see.

This is Sidney Miller (1983), for Funarte, a tribute, with the participation of Alaide Costa, Zeze Gonzaga, Ze Luiz Mazziotti and Sidney Miller performing two tracks, including A Viola e O Violeiro with Nara Leao. This is a very nice record with ten Sidney Miller compositions that you cannot miss. Zeze Gonzaga and Ze Luiz Mazziotti deliver very good interpretation of well-known Sidney Miller tunes. Carlos Piper - E Otimo (1966)

Hello, good evening! Do not let this cover cheats you. Despite what you are looking, this is not a "Para Dancar" album, and it is not a conventional orchestra LP led by a maestro performing popular songs of its time. This is a great disc recorded by an artist who has always been in priorities for Loronix and also on the short list of every serious Brazilian music collector. This will be the only record released tonight, and I'm sure it worth many other albums together. Let's see.

This is Carlos Piper e Sua Orquestra - E Otimo Dancar e Ouvir Carlos Piper e Sua Orquestra (1966), for Continental, featuring Carlos Piper Samba Jazz arrangements for Brazilian and American standards performed by a big band of top-notch musicians. It is amazing that a great musician such like Carlos Piper is completely unknown to the general public. My searches also failed to retrieve Carlos Piper information with Google. Some musicians in this session are also completely unknown. If anyone has additional information on Carlos Piper, feel free to share with us. Tracks include:

Nelson Cavaquinho - As Flores em Vida (1985)

I could have saved this album until Saturday, which is the day where Samba has the spotlights at Loronix. However, I could not resist. Even considered an extraordinary composer and Samba interpreter, Nelson Cavaquinho recorded only a few albums and this one was completely unknown for me. Nelson Cavaquinho has many admirers at Loronix and they should be quite enthusiastic about this disc. Let's see.

This is Nelson Cavaquinho - As Flores em Vida (1985), for Eldorado, a moving tribute and the last album recorded by Nelson Cavaquinho, with the participation of a constellation of Brazilian artists, including Paulinho da Viola, Cristina, Chico Buarque, Joao Bosco, Toquinho, among others. Nelson Cavaquinho performs in all tracks with the accompaniment of different guests. My highlight goes to the opening track Devia ser Condenada by Cartola and Nelson Cavaquinho, which is my selection to Loronix Preview Center. Tracks include:

zecarlosjr | Hello, good evening! I made consistent progress on creating the strategy of old post's reconstruction. That was the reason of my absence yesterday. It is important to set up procedures to make the work easy and organized, with little errors, so that everyone can participate. This is Temas das Copas do Mundo 1958 e 1970 (1970), for Copacabana, a single, featuring the themes of 1958 and 1970 World Cup, won by Brazil in Sweden and Mexico respectively. I believe that all the friends of Brazil know how to sing these songs by heart, especially the second, released in commemoration of the third Brazilian championship. I'm making available a documentary of the 1970 World Cup final match with Brazil and Italy, a must for those who love soccer, featuring Pelé, Jairzinho, Tostão, Rivelino and other renowned soccer players. Hello, good evening! I spent a time today looking on Loronix archives planning next month, fully dedicated on bring them back. We have a really huge collection with several nice albums, some of them bring nice memories from the days they were posted for the first time and this is an album that I never consider a candidate for an upgrade. It is probably one of the first conversions I made at Loronix and I got very pleased to show it in December 2006. Let's see.

This is Alaide Costa & Oscar Castro Neves - Alaide Costa & Oscar Castro Neves (1973), for Odeon, which is not an Alaide Costa career LP with the participation of Oscar Castro Neves, they share the role of main performers here, and the results are outstanding. Oscar Castro Neves delivers above of the average arrangements and Alaide Costa seems to be totally involved in the session, probably, the best album she ever recorded, even better than her 1965 release with the participation of Jongo Trio. If you are new to this record, consider taking it and if you already know the first issue, take it, everything was upgraded. Tracks include:

Lucio Alves - Lucio Alves (1975)

I think people of my generation in Brazil already know Lucio Alves or at least heard about him. I have to admit that before starting Loronix I knew only the basis, I didn't know, for instance, that Joao Gilberto always took his albums to hear with Lucio Alves, as a disciple getting the approval of his master. I became obsessed by Lucio Alves on LPs, compactos, 78 RPMs, no matter how. I believe Loronix provides moments of discovery and a real opportunity to understand a lot of Brazilian. Every day I learn a new thing with Loronix and Loronix does not belong to me, Loronix belongs to everybody. Rest assured that Loronix belongs to us, to our community as a whole. This is the last Lucio Alves career LP, the first over ten years, an inexplicable interval. Let's see.

This is Lucio Alves - Lucio Alves (1975), for RCA Victor, featuring tunes with women names, probably one of those Aloysio de Oliveira ideals, in charge of musical and studio direction. Actually, this album title is Lucio Alves e (the track list), vestidas por Chico de Moraes, in charge of the arrangements, but the title won't fit here. Important Communication to All Loronix's Friends

Hello, good evening! This is a very important communication to all of Loronix´s friends;

Last Thursday, all Loronix links were eliminated. It is not unusual for one or two links being occasionally removed because someone feels his / her rights have been infringed. We accept and respect that.

But the extent of the latest action makes me think of a purposeful attack, a denial of service. Based on previous experiences -- fortunately, none of such depth and consequences -- Loronix has always emerged strengthened and improved, with the support of our community.

The links will be gradually replaced, beginning from the newest ones, and proceeding until the oldest of them is back in order.

The replacement effort has just begun and everybody is invited to engage. Procedures are necessary to keep work organized; new features will be soon announced, along with instructions to allow anyone who feels like collaborating to participate in our effort.

My apologies for this inconvenience; you all can rest assure that lessons will be learned and we will make Loronix an even better community.

Varios Artistas - Discomunal (1968)

I was surprised today when I came back to this album and found no comments on it. I thought a list of more than 10 comments was available. Anyway, first thing is a required Millor Fernandes introduction for friends outside of Brazil; Millor Fernandes is a Brazilian cartoonist, humorist, writer and a key figure on Brazilian music. Being active as journalist since the late 30's, Millor founded with Ziraldo, Jaguar and others, the legendary satirical newspaper O Pasquim, in the middle of the toughest Brazilian dictatorship years. Millor Fernandes hosts this concert, recorded live in 1968 at Teatro Toneleros. Let's see.

This is Discomunal (1968), for MIS, an anthological concert with the participation of Antonio Carlos Jobim as a temporary member of the short living vocal group Quarteto 004, Baden Powell, Marcia, Paulo Moura Hepteto, Chico Buarque, Franklin and Eumir Deodato, in charge of arrangements and music direction. I have to admit that I never took in consideration to show Loronixers the works of Luiz Gonzaga, thanks to friends and their insistent requests for showing that I was totally wrong. We made the first Luiz Gonzaga LP a few weeks ago, a collection, perfect for starters. Now is time to make our next step, getting along with a Luiz Gonzaga career album, a great album by the way with several interest things, beginning with musicians in this session, arrangers and overall concept. Let's see.
