Hello, good evening! zecalouro is a big fan of singers with potent voices, such like Francisco Alves and Angela Maria. He goes nuts with opera, especially when played loud. I decided to change his “playlist” today with this album, having in mind the potent voice of Silvio Caldas. My parrot did not like it very much, but I had a great entertainment listening to Ary Barroso music with Silvio Caldas interpretation. Silvio Caldas is a great singer; he has a perfect diction, really incredible. I could understand every single word of Ary Barroso lyrics performed by Silvio Caldas. This is a very old album released in 1953 and these songs seem to be composed only a decade ago, they are fresh and beautiful. Ary Barroso music did not decay across time. Let’s see.
This is Ary Barroso com Silvio Caldas – Musica de Ary Barroso, Canta Silvio Caldas (1953), for Radio, featuring eight Ary Barroso songs performed by Silvio Caldas. Little I known about this album, but I have the insight that Ary Barroso participates with his unmistakable piano, delivering groovy Samba in some tracks. I think you should give a try to this album, just to understand that Brazilian music did not started with Bossa Nova and was attractive many years before the movement. Tracks include:
01 - No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
02 - Morena Boca de Ouro (Ary Barroso)
03 - Três Lágrimas (Ary Barroso)
04 - Faceira (Ary Barroso)
05 - Terra Seca (Ary Barroso)
06 - Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
07 - Tú (Ary Barroso)
08 - Risque (Ary Barroso)

Marisa com Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto - Convite a Musica (1958)
Hello, good evening! This was the third night that I try to make a fantastic contribution by Jorge Mello, and in the last minute I realize a missing information or a new detail that needs to be added and the plan is postponed to the next day. It is an important post featuring one of the artists that Jorge Mello most admires and everything should work with no mistakes. Anyway, I believe tomorrow is the big day.
Meanwhile, we will stay in good company with a mandatory update featuring an artist that certainly defines Loronix, Moacyr Silva, accompanying a singer appreciated by many friends, Marisa, on her debut LP for Copacabana label in 1958. Let’s see.
This is Marisa e Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto – Convite a Musica (1958), for Copacabana, Marisa debut LP, backed by Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto in all tracks. I said that Moacyr Silva defines Loronix for many reasons. Moacyr Silva is a gifted musician with a very important contribution to Brazilian music as producer of several albums. And since Loronix creation in 2006, I never had the chance to see one of Moacyr Silva career records available on CD. I would be very pleased to see Moacyr Silva reissued one day. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - You do Something To Me (Cole Porter) with MARISA
02 - Não Vou Pra Brasília (Billy Blanco) with MOACYR SILVA
03 - Leva Meu Samba (Ataulfo Alves) with MARISA
04 - Puladinho na Gafieira (Edmundo Maciel) with MOACYR SILVA

Ed Maciel - Volume 5 (1968)
Hello, good evening! Since Monday, Loronix has a new back-end application that counts with a very cool feature. This new tool gathers information about the search terms typed at Google that generates a referral to Loronix, providing nice reports about the most common search terms divided by country, continent and even cities.
This is a really important tool. Now I can create reports ranking the most common search terms, really nice to understand what people are looking for. I’m proud that the terms “Loronix” and “zeca louro” are on top of the ranking, followed by renowned artists such like Antonio Carlos Jobim and Baden Powell. In the other hand, this tool shows that many friends really don’t know how to make an efficient use of Google. Several queries are made like questions to Google instead of search terms. It is common to find terms with questions, such like: "I want to read about bossa nova.”, for instance. Another top ranked term is “Duran Duran”, probably made by people looking for information about the rock group Duran Duran arriving here to find Dolores Duran.
Anyway, so far, the great surprise was the trombonist, conductor, arranger and composer Ed Maciel being requested by many people, especially aboard. This post comes in response to this demand for Maestro Ed Maciel music. Let’s see.
This is Ed Maciel –Volume 5 (1968), for London, the fifth out of the eleven albums recorded by Ed Maciel and his orchestra, which are mainly music for dance, very similar to the albums released by Maestro Erlon Chaves’ Banda Veneno Internacional in the same period. Ed Maciel was a very important musician with participation on several important Brazilian instrumental music albums, such like the one released by Os Sete de Ouros, Os Gatos, Moacir Santos’ Coisas, Joao Gilberto’s Chega de Saudade, among many others. Tracks include:
01 - Hey Jude (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
02 - When I Was Five (Bernstein / Millrose)
03 - Light My Fire (Morrison / Manzarek / Krieger / Densmore)
04 - This Crazy World (Paul Anka)
05 - Do You Know The Way To San José (Burt Bacharach / H. David)
06 - Ed Maciel Tema (José Orlando / Benil Santos)
07 - Those Were The Days (Raskin)
08 - Hold Me Tight (J. Nasch)
09 - Don't Give Up (T. Hatch / J. Trent)
10 - Choo Choo Train (Fritts / Hinton)
11 - I Dig Rock And Roll Music (P. Stookey / J. Mason / D. Dixon)
12 - Sá Marina (Antônio Adolfo / Tibério Gaspar)

Beth Carvalho - Canto para um Novo Dia (1973)
Hello, good evening! Last week I found this early album recorded by one of the most important Brazilian Samba interpreters, Beth Carvalho, a requested artist at Loronix and one of our missing pieces with only one album released. This album was scheduled for the last Saturday, but I was so tired and felt asleep soon on that day. Anyway, I cannot wait until Saturday, and I hope you understand this extraordinary “Samba Monday”. Let’s see.
This is Beth Carvalho – Canto para um Novo Dia (1973), for Tapecar, Beth Carvalho second career LP and the first and only album recorded for Tapecar. By the way, the tiny and important Tapecar label delivers a lot of resources to Beth Carvalho, nice cover artworks with several pictures inside and a cast of best of breed Brazilian musicians, including arrangements by Cesar Camargo Mariano and participation of legends such like Nelson Cavaquinho, Geraldo Vespar, Ze Menezes, Dino 7 Cordas, Luizao, Martinho da Vila, among many others. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Hora de Chorar (Mano Décio da Viola / Jorge Pessanha)
02 - Canto Por Um Novo Dia (Garoto da Portela)
03 - Se É Pecado Sambar (Manoel Santana)
04 - Homenagem a Nelson Cavaquinho (Carlos Elias)
05 - Evocação Nº 1 (Nelson Ferreira)
06 - Velhice da Porta-bandeira (Eduardo Gudin / Paulo César Pinheiro)
07 - Folhas Secas (Nelson Cavaquinho / Guilherme de Brito)
08 - Salve a Preguiça Meu Pai (Mário Lago)
09 - Mariana da Gente (João Nogueira)
10 - Fim de Reinado (Martinho da Vila)
11 - Clementina de Jesus (Gisa Nogueira)
12 - Memória de Um Compositor (Darci da Mangueira / Betinho)
13 - Flor da Laranjeira (Zé Pretinho / Bernardino Silva / Humberto de Carvalho) Sereia (Tradicional / Adpt. Beth Carvalho) Música tradicional baiana São Jorge Meu Protetor (Nelson Cavaquinho / Jorge Silva / Noel Silva)

Rosinha de Valenca - Cheiro de Mato (1976)
Hello, good evening! Let's start a new week with a very important artist that has not been released at Loronix since April 21, 2007, where I had the chance to show Rosinha de Valenca – Ao Vivo (1966), a fantastic collaboration sponsored by Caetano Rodrigues, a extremely hard to find album awaited by several friends. Rosinha de Valenca is a gifted musician, acknowledged by renowned people such like Baden Powell, Aloysio de Oliveira, Sergio Mendes, among others. She died recently, exactly four years ago in June 10, 2004. I would like to say thank you to Jorge Mello for making this album available to our community. Let’s see.
This is Rosinha de Valenca – Cheiro de Mato (1976), for Odeon, featuring Rosinha de Valenca playing and singing a repertoire made mostly by her own compositions. It is important to say that Elifas Andreatto is responsible for creating the covers and inserts, truly awesome, especially the back cover, which is particularly beautiful. My pick for Loronix Preview Center is track 05 – Pedacinhos do Ceu (Waldyr Azevedo / Miguel Lima), featuring the cavaquinho of Mane do Cavaco, my personal friend who lives near my place. Mane do Cavaco is a great musician; he is always in action every Saturday playing choro with his group on a restaurant just behind my building. Cheiro de Mato brings a constellation of Brazilian musicians, as detailed on Personnel listing and inside the music files. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Os Grilos sao Astros (Rosinha de Valenca)
02 - Meus Zelos (Rosinha de Valenca)
03 - Madrinha Lua (Rosinha de Valenca)
04 - Cabocla Jurema-Xango (Rosinha de Valenca adapt & arrangements)
05 - Usina de Prata (Rosinha de Valenca)
06 - Pedacinho do Ceu (Waldir Azevedo / Miguel Lima)
07 - Vila de Santa Tereza (Rosinha de Valenca / Elisa Marina)
08 - Chua, Chua (Pedro de Sa Pereira / Ary Pavao)
09 - Paisagem (Hamilton Costa)
10 - Movimento da Vida (Sueli Costa)
