Hello, good afternoon! I was making a website migration yesterday and decided to read a magazine while waiting for a DNS refresh. The DNS was refreshed, but I slept by accident at the couch while reading the magazine. It happens every time. This is the reason why I’m making this extraordinary mid afternoon post, since it was supposed to be released yesterday. Let’s see.
This is Codo – Um Violao Muito Bom Modestia a Parte (1969), for the legendary label Copacabana, featuring Codo violao performing a blend of his own compositions with Brazilian and some international tunes. Maestro Ivan Paulo is in charge of the arrangements and Ismael Correa is the producer. Thanks to Jorge Mello for another Codo album, a musician that was recently introduced to our community that never had a chance to be reissued on CD. Tracks include:

26 Chega de Saudade Renditions by Martoni
Exactly 50 years ago, precisely at 10 July 1958, Joao Gilberto started the studio session to record the landmark Bossa Nova album Chega de Saudade. This image was created with 26 albums covers with something in common, which one has a different rendition of Chega de Saudade. This is a really nice compilation assembled by Martoni on his homage to Bossa Nova 50th Anniversary, available on his website, following this link.

Maria Creuza - Poetico (1982) | Vinicius de Moraes Tribute
I believe that many friends will not understand why the back cover has the spotlight instead of the front cover with Maria Creuza photo. There is a special reason, Vinicius de Moraes, who left this planet on July 09, 2008, exactly 28 years ago. It has been twenty-eight years without Vinicius de Moraes. I remember the day of his passing as it was yesterday. Vinicius de Moraes lives through his work and should live for many decades; he is one of the most important Brazilian popular music artists. Let’s see.
This is Maria Creuza – Poetico (1982), for RCA, a tribute to Vinicius de Moraes, featuring only Vinicius de Moraes compositions, performed by Maria Creuza, a singer strongly influenced by Vinicius de Moraes, with several albums released with Vinicius, including the legendary live performances available on recording, such as “La Fusa”, recorded in Argentina. Let’s celebrate and remember Vinicius de Moraes. Tracks include:

Jorge Ben - Historia da MPB (1970)
Hello, good evening! This is the album were the last challenge with Jorge Ben and Copa Trio was taken, by the way, another mom’s contribution. I was not thinking about showing at Loronix, but when I took it again today to scan a page, I could see that two tracks are Jorge Ben backed by J.T. Meirelles e Os Copa 5 and a strange force moved my body towards the turntable for a spin. Thanks to the Loronix friend that asked for the second page scan, it is included. Let’s see.
This is Jorge Ben - Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira Nr. 8 (1970), for Abril Cultural, featuring Jorge Ben selected cuts performed by Jorge Ben, J.T. Toquinho - O Violao do Toquinho (1966)
Hello, good evening! Here we go on another contribution sent by my mother, strongly recommended by her. She also asked to release it in the beginning of this series and then alternate between Jorge Mello and her contributions. I think it is time to give Loronix control to her. Just kidding, it is a nice idea.
She is a big fan of Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes, with some DVDs that she uses to spin very frequently, but mom said she got a little bit disappointed with this one, just for being an instrumental album, no lyrics and no singing. In the other hand, I’m really amazed with this one. Toquinho is mostly known as a singer and composer, but he is also a great instrumentalist, one of Paulinho Nogueira disciples. By the way, Toquinho has another instrumental only release at Loronix that you should not miss, here. Let’s see.
This is Toquinho – O Violao do Toquinho (1966), for RGE, featuring Toquinho violão accompanied by an unusual formation with drums, flute and organ played by Ely Arcoverde. I wish everybody a very productive and prosperous week. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Marcha da Quarta-feira de Cinzas (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) Sonho de Um Carnaval (Chico Buarque)
02 - Triste Amor Que Vai Morrer (Elis Regina / Valter Silva)
03 - Deixa (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Réquiem Para Um Amor (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra)
05 - Zambi (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Valsa de Eurídice (Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Antes e Depois (Oscar Castro Neves)
08 - Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 - Pequeno Concerto Que Virou Canção (Geraldo Vandré)
10 - Allemande (Johann Sebastian Bach / Adpt. Toquinho)
11 - Dá-me (Adilson Godoy)

Disco de Bolso do Pasquim, Nr. 2 - Caetano Veloso e Fagner (1972)
I think that everybody remember when Loronix released a single with Antonio Carlos Jobim performing a very, let’s say, primitive Aguas de Marco. That album was the first release of a new magazine called Disco de Bolso, featuring a single with a well-now artist and a new artist on side B. The concept was excellent, but for reasons that I could not check, the magazine did not survive to the second edition, which is exactly what we have here, kindly sent by my Mother. Let’s see.
This is Disco de Bolso do Pasquim Numero 2 – Caetano Veloso e Fagner (1972), for Zen, featuring on side A Caetano Veloso, performing A Volta da Asa Branca, recorded live at Teatro Joao Caetano, Rio de Janeiro. Side B brings the new artist, Fagner, performing Mucuripe (Belchior / Fagner). Caetano Veloso does not have a support group, only his violao, while Fagner plays violao and is backed by Ivan Lins, playing organ. It is sad to know this magazine had such a short life. Both new artists (remember the first had Joao Bosco on side B) are now respected artists in Brazil. Tracks include:
01 – A Volta da Asa Branca (Luiz Gonzaga) with Caetano Veloso
02 – Mucuripe (Fagner / Belchior) with Fagner
