Abilio Manoel - Pena Verde (1970)

It will be nice to show Loronixers an excelente Brazilian artist from the 60's to 70's (but still active) Abilio Manoel. Abilio is acclaimed by SambaRock (Trio Mocoto, Jorge Ben) fans. This is Pena Verde, recorded in 1970 and it is the second LP released by Abilio. Although celebrated, Abilio did not reach a good level of popularity.

Abilio LPs are very hard to find and thanks again to Refer that told zecalouro about this LP that is really worthwhile. Maestro Luizinho and Jose Briamonte are in charge of the arrangements. Tracks include:

01 - Cavaleiro Andante
02 - Pena Verde
03 - No Mundo da Lua
04 - Verdejar
05 - Aldeia
06 - Cata-vento
07 - Andrea
08 - Rosa Cor de Rosa
09 - Caminhando para o Azul
10 - Nas areias da Lua
11 - Arco Iris
12 - E Adriana Chorava

  7. Dear sirs.

    Abilio is a great artist.

Now, you are right, when researching for this post, I read somewhere that Abilio has some kind of Marcos Valle influence on his work.

    Cheers.

  8. Oh, man! and I thought I was the only person in this world that still liked Abílio Manoel. I have here Becos e Saídas, a Som Livre Record from 1978 that I treasure. I'm glad to learn that he is still alive. I'm going to look for more stuff by him.

  9. Abilio is criminally underrated....now, the real masterpieces are the following two LPs: "Entre Nos" (72) and "Velho De Guerra" (73). Just mind-blowingly great!
