José Lidio Cordeiro aka Papudinho is the legendary Brazilian trumpet player and arranger that you are already used to hear at the 1964 LP - Conjunto Som 4 and his friends Azeitona, Hermeto Pascoal and Edilson.
Papudinho - Papudinho Especial! (1965), is a nice mix of Bossa Nova, Soul, Jazz and Funk, with the nice voice of the girls on cover - Celma & Celia - and the great Papudinho trumpet and arrangements. Tracks include:
01 - Yê Melê (Chico Feitosa - L.C. Vinhas)
02 - Onda (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
03 - La La La (Manuel De La Calva)
04 - By The Time I Get To Phoenix (J. Webb)
05 - Love For Sale (Irving Berlim)
06 - Nosso Tema (Papudinho)
07 - This Guy´S In Love With You (H. David- B. Bacharach)
08 - Segura Esse Samba Ogunhe (Oswaldo Nunes)
09 - Andança (Danilo Cayme)
10 - Cupid´S Song (Watanabe)
11 - Le Bruit Des Vagues (Pascal Servran - Sergio Lebrall - Romuald)
12 - Sweet Love (Tibor Reisner)
Marcio,
ReplyDeleteTake this not as the *genre* Funk, but as the rhythm atmosphere of the LP.
I meant funk from the soul (not the genre) or the heart (not the organ, but the felling).
That's right?
Many cheers!
Oooh, I love Ye Mele. Any more versions out there?

ReplyDeleteMarcio,
ReplyDeleteNo problem. It was not agressive. You just asked for clarification because it is really weird a 60's record with an element born a decade later.
Avocado, just to say that there are more Paps in the row.

Som bastante agradável, mas o album não será de 68? É que contém os temas "La la La" e "This Guy's In Love With You", cujos originais só apareceram naquele ano (Massiel e Herb Alpert)
ReplyDeleteThese Celma & Celia are the twins that host a tv show nowadays ???? ( Canal Rural )
ReplyDeleteThis LP was recorded in 1969, and yes Celma & Celia are the hosts of Canal Rural!
