Zeca,
Ela me pareceu feiosa, baixinha, masculinizada, muito estranha. Uma tomboy. A voz e o violão eram bem ordinários.
Lembrar do ano, local, nome da galeria e babem, do horário do show é ***impressionante***

Hello,
ReplyDeletefor anyone not speaking portuguese perhaps someone here have info and know something on tuca. I have both the three albums she made and the fantastic "la question" and am deeply fascinated by this mysterious woman.
I think she, especially on the last album dracula i love you and in her contribution on the "la question" album has a sound that i have heard from no other brazilian artist. A bit like if kate bush had been born in brazil.
Did she record anything more than those three albums and la question ?
Oh, and thanks for a super-duper lovely blog, loronix
Calle
Calle,
ReplyDeleteTuca recorded a couple of singles edited in France only. The picture cover of one of these little records was posted on the super fine filles sourires blog. This is the link:
http://fillessourires.blogspot.com/2005/11/franoise-3.html
Attention ZECA, MEU LOURO: Tuca (the nickname of Valenza Zagni) died in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May 8th, 1978 (NOT '77)!
thanks refer,
ReplyDeleteyeah, i have seen the cover on your fine blog i believe. Have you heard them ? Or anyone else here ? Do they sound like the la question album perhaps. Imagine if there somewhere in a studiovault in france is an unreleased tuca album.
Calle
Calle,
ReplyDeleteSorry to say that I never listened to Tuca's French records. And the great blog Filles Sourires is not mine.
Refer,
ReplyDeleteThanks for assisting Calle and the corrections. You are always great, pal!
Calle,
I will check if there is some other else out of print LPs available. I'm astonished with the outcome of this first Tuca post, several wonderful comments.
I like this.

Yes, Francois Hardys "la Question" is indeed a fantastic album. For me it´s like the best of both worlds coming together, france and brazil, since tuca wrote all the songs and arranged the stringarrangements. It is huge shame that Tuca never got around to explore this sound more since i never have heard anything like it.
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps loronix you know of any other brasilian singer that sounds like tuca ?
If you listen to the song "frevo" from "tuca eu tuca", you can hear what she was to explore in france acouple of years later.
Calle
Calle,
ReplyDeleteMy first Tuca experience was here, together with you. Actually, I was presented to her by a Loronixer, reading the comments. Maybe with another record I can make a better evaluation and get an answer for you.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous,

Hello Calle and other Loronixers
ReplyDeleteI came across this website last week while looking for some music similar to "La Question".
Like Calle, I find this album unlike anything I have ever heard. F. HARDY'S other album tend to be too cheesy and grow out, but not "la question". Thanks to Tuca's "Le Martien","Mer","Chanson D'O" and the title track, "La Question", this album stands as Hardy's best and sounds very different from her other works.
Calle and you folks out there, could you please tell me how you located Tuca's albums? I see nothing on internet!
I never grow tired of "Le Martien" and would love to hear more of TUCA.
I am so happy I came across this website.

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the information. I managed to get Tuca's music (wink wink didn't know it was that easy)
'Dracula, I Love You" is one of the very best I heard in recent years. I don't know if she is typical of Brazilina musician, but will check out more Brazilian musician.
