Helena de Lima - Helena de Lima e a Banda da Policia Militar do Estado da Guanabara (1967)

I was talking with a great friend about Brazilian instrumental music. He said that at the 78 rpm age, the military bands had a great importance, releasing several records and were of a great help on the popularization of musical instruments, such as brass and percussion.

Remembering this conversation, zecalouro presents Helena de Lima - a great Brazilian singer, active from the early 50's until the mid 70's - and a renowned Brazilian military band, Banda da Policia Militar do Estado da Guanabara, which is still active with the name of Companhia de Músicos da Policia Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.

This LP landmark the first recording of a popular singer in front of a military band in Brazil, it will be very interest to see the great Helena de Lima, performing in front of a disciplined group of military musicians. Tracks include:

01 - Marcha da Quarta-feira de Cinzas (Vinicius de Moraes / Carlos Lyra)
02 - Aleluia de Um Imenso Amor (Silvino Neto)
03 - As Pastorinhas (João de Barro / Noel Rosa)
04 - Porta Estandarte (Geraldo Vandré / Fernando Lona)
05 - Fantasia (Haroldo Barbosa / Raul Mascarenhas)
06 - Noite dos Mascarados (Chico Buarque)
07 - Triste Fim dos Carnavais (Klécius Caldas)
08 - Ressurreição dos Velhos Carnavais (Lamartine Babo)
09 - Pequena Marcha Para Um Grande Amor (Juca Chaves)
10 - São Flores (Helena de Lima / Orlando Henriques)
11 - Pierrot de Cetim (Fernando César / João Leal Brito "britinho")
12 - Sonho de Pierrot (Luis Antônio)
