Lennie Dale & Trio 3D - A 3a Dimensao de Lennie Dale e o Trio 3D (1966)

One of the many things zecalouro has been learning at Loronix is the passion of our friends in Germany for Brazilian music. I have been in in touch with really nice people from Germany and they are really collaborative, making suggestions and help with the best they have.

One of those German friends - let's call him Mr. D&C - have been asking for Lennie Dale & Trio 3D - A 3a Dimensao de Lennie Dale e o Trio 3D (1966), which is one of his favorites. Mr. D&C says wonders about this LP and this is time to check. Lennie Dale has the collaboration of Trio 3D in this set, Trio 3D is Antônio Adolfo (piano), Sergio B. Netto (bass) e Chico Batera (drums). Tracks include:

01 - Mensagem (Adilson Godoy)
02 - Diz de Verdade (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
03 - Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / João de Barro)
04 - Johnny One Note (Rodgers / Hart)
05 - Upa Neguinho (Edu Lobo / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri)
06 - Strangers In The Night (Kaempfert / Singleton / Snyder)
07 - Simplesmente (Édison Lobo) -- Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Samba de Mudar (Geraldo Vandré)

  4. Oba, Lôro! Tranquilidade?

  6. The album cover reminds me of an early Badem Powell cover. I wonder whether they were done by the same artist. How can one get to see the liner notes and find out whether are there any photos on the back side of the album?

Also, - you said that Sergio B Netto is on bass on this album. I remember when Lenny brought the trio Bossa Tres to NY in 1962. The "trio" was Luis Carlos Vinhas (piano, of course), Edicão Machado (drums) and Tião (Sebastião) Netto on bass. Jose Soares played percussion and sang. Are Sergio and Sebastião related or could they be the same person and there's a typo on the liner notes? I think everyone in Bossa Tres, except Luis Carlos, became part of the original "Brazil 66" group.

Finally, - a little segway . . . does anyone out there know where I might find that Jose Soares? He used to live in Rio but I've been unable to figure out whether any of the gazillion J. Soareses listed in the white pages might be him (lol).

    Muito Obrigada,
    Elena
