This is really cool. Lira de Xopoto was a Radio show broadcasted by Radio Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, which was designed to announce and promote regional bands from the countryside of Brazil. Paulo Roberto presented the radio show and the Maestro in charge of musical direction and arrangements was Lyrio Panicali.
Supporting the radio show, a homonimous band was created, Lyra de Xopoto, releasing several 78rpm and some LPs. This is a LP release, Lyra de Xopoto - Relembrando Sucessos (1960), for Sinter, probably, a compilation of previous recordings.
It is supposed that Maestro Lyrio Panicali is in charge of this LP arrangement or at least some of them. Really unique LP with a nice cover that makes this release a nice pick for Loronix. Tracks include:
01 - São Paulo Quatrocentão
02 - Noite Feliz
03 - Brejeiro
04 - 13 de Maio
05 - Arnoud no Choro
06 - Caixinha de Música
07 - Jingle Bells
08 - 26 de Junho
09 - Pastorinhas
10 - São Paulo
11 - Cristo Nasceu na Bahia
12 - Nova Friburgo
MUITO BOM ESSE DISCO! EU TENHO UMA FAIXA DELE, " SÃO PAULO QUATROCENTÃO", NUM LP PROMOCIONAL DA PHILLIPS DE 1965, MAS NÃO CONHECIA MAIS NADA DA "LYRA"; REALMENTE MUITO LEGAL! ZÉ LUÍZ-SANTOS/SP
