I was changing emails with the bossanovadreamer to gather his opinion about the posts for today. We agreed on an artist and the world was a wonderful place and everybody was happy. However, the green bird never stops quiet and changed his mind to this nice performance of a great Brazilian diva that always make a great releases at Loronix.
This is Elizeth Cardoso - Live in Japan (1978), for Copacabana, recorded live at Teatro Shibuya Kokaido, Tokyo, Japan, 1977. No much to say about this release, except that it confirms that even a late Elizeth Cardoso performs wonderfully on a live set, such like that earlier release with Zimbo Trio at boite Sucata. Just forgot to say that this cover is gorgeous, one of those that you cannot stop starring. If any friend has a version better than this one, please fell free to share with us. Tracks include:
01 - Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
02 - É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
03 - Outra Vez (Tom Jobim)
04 - Naquela Mesa (Sergio Bittencourt)
05 - Manhã de Carnaval (Luis Bonfá / Antônio Maria)
06 - Última Forma (Baden Powell / Paulo César Pinheiro)

Pau Brasil - Pau Brasil (1980)
One of the things that I learn with Loronix is to have a great respect and admiration to Brazilian Samba Rock enthusiasts. They are different, really. They know how to live in community, respecting each other with no rivalities and a great willing to collaborate with each other. Mr. G. provides this release that is my personal tribute to the Samba Rock scene, the bands, the musicians and the fans. You are great.
You will be thrilled with this Mr. G. release, this is Pau Brasil - Pau Brasil (1980), for Continental, not to be confused with the Jazz band from Rio de Janeiro, this Pau Brasil is from Brazilian South, Rio Grande do Sul state. Pau Brasil is Bedeu (acoustic guitar and percussion), Alexandre (acoustic guitar and bass) and Leleco (pandeiro and timbales), the production is in charge of Marcus Vinicius and artistic direction is from a well-known artist from Tropicalismo years, Manoel Barenbein. Trio Surdina - Ouvindo Trio Surdina Volume 1 (1953)
I cannot evaluate if you had fun with the last Trio Surdina release, but I think it is reasonable to make another try, now taking a very old release. This is Trio Surdina - Ouvindo Trio Surdina Volume 1 (1953), for Musidisc, provided by the mighty Mr. X., this is perhaps the oldest LP released at Loronix, actually, not a LP, but a 10'.
This LP has the well-known line up with Garoto (guitar), Fafa Lemos (violin) and Chiquinho (accordion), all tracks are Brazilian folklore compositions.
I don't known what a the tricks used by Mr. X. to bring us a such a perfect cover artwork, amazingly beautiful for a record released more than 50 years ago. This release has the bit rate of 96Kbps on a small 15Mb package, I would like to explain again that this is a MP3Pro release with an output close and sometimes better than a 192Kbps standard MP3. Tracks include:
01 - Prenda Minha (Tradicional)
02 - Peixe Vivo (Tradicional)
03 - Casinha Pequenina (Tradicional)
04 - Mulher Rendeira (Tradicional)
05 - Casinha na Colina (Tradicional)

Vinicius de Moraes e Toquinho - Toquinho & Vinicius (1974)
Hello, Good Night! What a hot summer day in Rio de Janeiro. I have a problem with high temperatures, maybe my blood pressure falls, I don't known. zecalouro likes that. The days are longer, especially with daylight savings. He uses to take daily baths in summertime, he loves bath. I'm now trying to verse him on classic music and it seems he will become a great enthusiast, especially with the operas that he tries to sing together. It is awesome the extent of the parrot voice, he can do perfect the extreme soprano acute from the deepest baritone bass.
Why I'm telling this kind of story, perhaps the heat is melting my brain, anyway.
The last and first Vinicius de Moraes release was a surprise, great success and acceptance. I was reluctant to release that record, there is a sad atmosphere with that cover that disturbs me. This one is different, all about happiness, meet Vinicius de Moraes e Toquinho - Toquinho & Vinicius (1974), for Philips and produced by Paulinho Tapajos. Vinicius had a long partnership with Toquinho, releasing several records. This released why suggested by SilverSun at Loronix Forum, thanks SilverSun. Tracks include:
01 - Como É Duro Trabalhar (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Samba da Volta (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - A Carta Que Não Foi Mandada (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Triste Sertão (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Carta ao Tom 74 (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)

09 - Samba do Jato (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - As Cores de Abril (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
11 - Tudo na Mais Santa Paz (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)

Bossa Tres - Os Bossa Tres & Seus Amigos (1965)
This is the first out of several LPs that Caetano Rodrigues kindly sent to zecalouro today to release at Loronix. I spent myself today like a little kid locked at a chocolate factory, completely lost among several choices. Tomorrow, I will post on Loronix Forum a picture with the overall collection together. Since we are going through a series of posts, there is a new post icon to identify Caetano's contributions. I never get tired to thanks Caetano about his willing and sharing spirit.
Starting the first out of many, Caetano's pick for today is Bossa Tres - Os Bossa Tres e Seus Amigos (1965), for Audio Fidelity, the last recording of Bossa Tres with it's original line-up, which is Luiz Carlos Vinhas (piano), Edison Machado (drums) and Tiao Neto (bass). Bossa Tres has special guests to this session (amigos), they are Sonny Simmons (sax alto), Clifford Jordan (sax tenor and flauta) and Prince Lasha (flute).
I have never heard this LP and my first feeling is that we will have a lot to talk about it. Tracks include:
01 - Bottles (Luis Carlos Vinhas / Édison Machado / Tião Neto)
02 - Blue Monk (Thelonious Monk)
03 - Love For Sale (Cole Porter)
04 - Cuttie (Sonny Rollins)

Case e Seu Conjunto - Samba Irresistivel (1961)
We have now a nice Samba Jazz record and the first release at Loronix of the Brazilian Clarinetist Case with the LP Case e Seu Conjunto - Samba Irresistivel (1961), for Bervely, a second issue from the original by Hi-Fi Variety Hi-Fi (1960).
Case is a well-known Brazilian clarinetist, unfortunately, biography and complimentary information about him is almost non-existent. Actually, the information available is contradictory, for instance: Case e Seu Conjunto personnel is Case, Amilton Godoy, Adilson Godói, Denise Dumont, Bill e Magrinho, but some sources says that musicians at this record session were Casé, Heraldo do Monte, Paulo Lima, Xu Vianna, Dirceu and Corisco.
I do not have a indication about the correct personnel listing, but if you take this LP you will see that this is a great album performed by grownups such like Corisco and Heraldo do Monte. Anyway, this is a minor detail taking in consideration the great music. Tracks include:
01 - Se Acaso Você Chegasse (Lupicínio Rodrigues / Felisberto Martins)
02 - Carinho e Amor (Tito Madi)
03 - Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa)
04 - Feitio de Oração (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
05 - Idéias Erradas (Ribamar (1) / Dolores Duran)
06 - Menina Moça (Luis Antônio)
07 - Saudades da Bahia (Dorival Caymmi)
08 - Meditação (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
09 - Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
10 - Esse Teu Olhar (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
11 - Tim Tim Por Tim Tim (Portinho / Falcão)
12 - Ensaio de Bossa (Casé)

Fagner - Manera Fru-Fru, Manera (1973)
Hello, good night! This post has been planned for more than a few weeks. It is not the kind of record that you use to see at Loronix, but has a special meaning to zecalouro and I could not resist sharing.
There are several important "personal" facts surrounding this record. It was the first one that I could buy using my own money. I knew it by surprise while stepping out of a bus on a given hot week, capturing my attention at a first sight. It was also very useful to help myself on first steps toward guitar playing. It has been more than 30 years since my first hearing and this is one of the most soulful, sincere, captivating and emotional singing interpretation I could ever see in my life.
This is Fagner - Manera Fru-Fru, Manera (1973), for Philips, the first LP of this underrated Brazilian artist. There are several curious stories about this LP and I will pick up just one. As soon as the record was released, Cecilia Meirelles relatives went to court to complain about the partnership of Fagner with Cecilia Meirelles song, Canteiros, as far as I known, one of the most popular Fagner tunes of all time. The LP was reissued at the same year with another track "Cavalo Ferro", replacing Canteiros. This release is the original issue.
I hope that you will take this release with special attention since zecalouro does not use to express his feelings about an LP on such particular way. Please give us your feedback. Perhaps I'm moved with the records we received today by Caetano Rodrigues. |smile|
For the fans of Nara Leao, a special gift, she is singing with Fagner on two wonderful tracks making a nice duet with Fagner's harsh voice. Tracks include. Sorry, last minute info: you will note that track 3 has the name Penas do Tie, Philips mistake, this song is called "Voce" and was composed in 1928 by Hekel Tavares / Nair Mesquita.
01 - Último Pau-de-arara (Venâncio / Corumba / José Guimarães)
02 - Nasci Para Chorar (Born To Cry) (Dion / Dimucci / Vrs. Erasmo Carlos)
03 - Você (Hekel Tavares / Nair Mesquita / Adpt. Fagner) with Nara Leao
04 - Moto 1 (Fagner / Belchior)
05 - Mucuripe (Fagner / Belchior)
06 - Como Se Fosse (Fagner / Capinan)
07 - Pé de Sonhos (Petrúcio Maia / Brandão) with Nara Leao
08 - Canteiros (Fagner / Cecília Meireles)

Quarteto em Cy - Quarteto em Cy (1972)
This post is in response to the great reception we had on the last Quarteto em Cy release, the album Querelas do Brasil. It is incredible that Quarteto em Cy releases from the 70's are more popular than the earlier ones from the 60's.
Taking advantage of this momentum, let me introduce Quarteto em Cy - Quarteto em Cy (1972), for Odeon, recorded after a hiatus that started in 1970, lasting two years. This album also landmarks a new line-up with Cyva, Cynara, Sonia and the first recording participation of Dorinha Tapajós.
This formation did not change in the following eight years and the last change was in 1980, with Dorinha Tapajos leaving the quartet to be replaced by Cybele, line-up that remains unchanged since them. This album has the participation of Dorival Caymmi on track 11, Canto de Oba. Tracks include:

Wilson Miranda - A Outra Face de Wilson Miranda (1964) with Roberto Menescal e Seu Conjunto
This is Wilson Miranda debut at Loronix, his first release. I will be open and honest, this is my first experience with Wilson Miranda, a Brazilian singer that started his career in the late 50's with a repertoire based on calypsos, beguines and some romantic rocks. I'm not sure if Wilson Miranda had some association with Jovem guarda, since he changed his style to a romantic oriented singer in the golden Jovem Guarda years.
I have decided by this pick, Wilson Miranda - A Outra Face de Wilson Miranda (1964), for Chantecler, due the participation of Roberto Menescal e Seu Conjunto that accompanies Wilson Miranda on all tracks. Wilson Miranda is also a composer, although this LP does not have his compositions. It is always a great pleasure to introduce a new artist to Loronixers and I hope this is a nice choice. Tracks include:
01 - Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Naná (Moacir Santos / Mário Telles)
03 - Adriana (Roberto Menescal / Luis Fernando Freire)
04 - Não Faz Assim (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
05 - Mar Azul (Francis Hime / João Vitório)
06 - Só Tinha Que Ser Com Você (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
07 - Inútil Paisagem (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
08 - Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
09 - Você (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
10 - Meu Triste Amor Impossível (Walter Santos / Carlos Paraná)
11 - Não Fique Triste (Ugo Marotta / Ronaldo Ferraz)
12 - A Paz do Homem Só (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)

A Bossa no Paramount - Various Artists (1965)
Hello, Good Night! I'm now convinced that the recordings of anthological Bossa Nova concerts are endless. Really. We had already wonderful releases, such as the Au Bon Gourmet show, Gemini V, among several other pearls.
Actually, I had the MP3 versions of this one on a very low quality and I was reluctant to share because this is one of my favorites. When yesterday, without knowing, the mighty Zub Zub from Magic of JuJu sent this fresh rip by his own. Thanks Zub Zub, your picks are always stunning and your rips, failure proof.
This is A Bossa no Paramount - Various Artists (1965), for RGE, a live Bossa Nova concert recorded at Teatro Paramount, Sao Paulo, 1964. You will have eight classic Bossa Nova tunes performed by Marcos Valle, Elis Regina, Vinicius de Moraes, Paulinho Nogueira, Wanda Sa, Oscar Castro Neves, Zimbo Trio, Quarteto em Cy and Alaide Costa. We can't go wrong with this team. Tracks include:
01 - Terra de Ninguém (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle) - Marcos Valle / Elis Regina
02 - Mulher Sempre Mulher (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) - Vinicius de Moraes
03 - Zelão (Sergio Ricardo) - Paulinho Nogueira
04 - Vivo Sonhando (Tom Jobim) - Wanda Sá
05 - Antes e Depois (Oscar Castro Neves) - Oscar Castro Neves
06 - Nanã (Moacir Santos) - Zimbo Trio
07 - Tem Dó de Mim (Carlos Lyra) - Quarteto Em Cy
08 - Adeus (Oscar Castro Neves) - Alaíde Costa
Actually, I had the MP3 versions of this one on a very low quality and I was reluctant to share because this is one of my favorites. When yesterday, without knowing, the mighty Zub Zub from Magic of JuJu sent this fresh rip by his own. Thanks Zub Zub, your picks are always stunning and your rips, failure proof.

I'm probably taking all Loronix friends by surprise with this release. Olivia Byington was never mentioned or requested before. So, get yourself ready for the debut LP of Olivia Byington - Corra o Risco (1978), for Continental.

Trio 3-D - O Trio 3-D Convida (1965)
This record is really great, my only problem is the cover with these armed military men, but this is a minor issue. Just to remember, the first Trio 3-D release at Loronix was that one with the guys standing at the keyboard of a giant piano, all black with Trio 3-D on a yellow and very modern typeface. Actually, I'm never 100% happy.
Anyway, it is Trio 3-D, instrumental Bossa Jazz from the 60's with the LP Trio 3-D - O Trio 3-D Convida (1965), for RCA. Trio 3-D at this released is Antônio Adolfo (piano), Carlinhos Monjardin (bass) and Nelsinho (drums). But what make this LP different are the special guests Raul de Barros (trombone), Ed. Maciel (trombone), Paulo Moura (sax alto) and Meirelles (Sax tenor). The arrangements are from Trio 3-D leader, Antonio Adolfo, the exceptions are tracks 7 and 12, arranged by Eumir Deodato. Tracks include:
01 - Água de Beber (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - My Heart Stood Still (Lorenz Hart / Richard Rogers)
03 - Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
04 - Tamanco no Samba (Orlann Divo / Hélton Menezes)
05 - Reza (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra)
06 - Batucada Surgiu (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
07 - Só Tinha de Ser Com Você (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)

10 - Bye Bye Blackbird (Hay Anderson)
11 - O Passarinho (Chico Feitosa / Luis Fernando Freire)
12 - Peter Samba (Durval Ferreira / Maurício Einhorn)

Heitor Villa Lobos - Forest of the Amazon (1959) with with the Symphony of The Air and Bidu Sayao - Soprano
Moving forward with the Musicians Day celebration I would like to make a small interruption on Loronix style to present a LP of an artist that cannot be left behind on any Brazilian Music celebration. Take a time to hear this LP, a truly amazing tribute to the Amazon Rainforest; this is Heitor Villa Lobos - Forest of the Amazon (1959) with the Symphony of The Air (NBC Symphony Orchestra) and Bidu Sayao - Soprano.
This is a long time David Federman recommendation that I was saving for an appropriate day, today. I could hit my keyboard for hours writing about Villa Lobos and Bidu Sayao, but it is better to keep it short. Forest of the Amazon was one of Heitor Villa Lobos last works, he was very ill on his last years, but he could orchestrate the entire piece and even coach Bidu Sayao for a best performance. Anyway, do not forget to tell us what are your feelings about the first Classical Loronix release. Tracks include:
01 - Overture
02 - Deep In the Forest
03 - Excitement Among the Indians
04 - First Bird Song
05 - Nature's Dance
06 - Second Bird Song
07 - (Vocalise)
08 - Sails
09 - On the Way To the Hunt
10 - Third Bird Song
11 - Twilight Song
12 - The Indians In Search of the Girl
13 - Fourth Bird Song
14 - Rima's Music
15 - Head Hunters
16 - Love Song
17 - Sentimental Melody
18 - Forest Fire
29 - (Finale)

Special Post | A Tribute to Musicians Day - Baden Powell Mosaic
This is Loronix tribute to Musicians Day. I was with a friend today that is a graphic designer. I told him about the musician day in Brazil and he had the idea to make a photo mosaic of an artist based on Loronix LP covers. He told me how to do it and it was really simple, I took a Baden Powell picture and a collection of more than 5,000 LP images - cover, back covers, labels - that were stored on my hard disk.
He has a software that makes the correct decisions picking up individuals tiles among the 5,000 images collection and assembles it on a grid building this output that you can see above at low-res and you will have a lot of fun downloading the 2048 x 2048 original picture here (no rapidshare, direct link to image) to inspect what covers were used to build the picture.
Hope uEnjoy!

Aloysio de Oliveira - Cantem Conosco com o Coro Odeon (1960)
Hello, Good Night! I said earlier that we would have something different at Loronix today, some posts will released with homage to what is known in Brazil as O Dia do Musico - the day of the musician, November 22nd, today!
I want to present an album from a key Brazilian music artist that is not common associated as a musician, but as the executive director of Odeon and then the owner of the legendary record label Elenco, this is Aloysio de Oliveira - Cantem Conosco com o Coro Odeon (1960), for Odeon. My best pick would be a early Aloysio record with o Bando da Lua, unfortunately, I could not find it.
Today is a perfect day for this release, Aloysio de Oliveira was very important to the music that we like most and we are used to see at Loronix, he was responsible for the launching of many artists, such as: Alaíde Costa, Silvinha Telles, Sérgio Ricardo, and many others. Stay with tracks and a link to Aloysio de Oliveira AMG Bio.

Silvio Cesar - Som e Palavras (1978)
Let's get back to a Brazilian singer that is not released for a long time, this is Silvio Cesar - Som e Palavras (1977), for RCA, another great and unique Mr. G contribution, our great Loronixer and an worldwide authority on Brazilian music from the 70's.
Mr. G. seems to be like a planet around a star, he run through cycles, making his wonderful contributions, disappearing for a while and then returning for another session and so on. Mr. G did a nice job this time, this is a wonderful LP that is probably unknown by many Loronixers and has a group of first class musicians on the set, including Durval Ferreira, Ed. Maciel, Ed. Lincoln, Helio Delmiro, Paulo Moura and many others.
I have been wondering on this modern CD times of today if it is viable to put on a set such a wonderful team, it is hard to find a recent release bringing together such group. I will once again let you with tracks and personnel for this nice Silvio Cesar release.

Mitchell & Ruff - A Viagem (1966)
I had this record in my collection but I never take the deserved attention to it, you know that, two American musicians making Bossa Nova with Brazilian musicians, recording in Brazil...
When I received from Caetano Rodrigues his wonderful Bossa Nova book, came to my attention that this record was highlighted on a whole page with Caetano's own comments. So I decided to give it a new try and since then I'm blaming myself everyday for not taking this LP in consideration earlier, thanks to Caetano for it.
Thanks also Mr. X that without knowing this story has recently provided a high quality vinyl rip of Mitchell & Ruff - A Viagem (1966), for Forma to Loronixers. Where everything matches, working is very easy. I will let you with personnel listing and tracks; take a special consideration to this unique release.

Milton Banana - Milton Banana (1971)
Hello, Good Night! We know that every record has a story behind it, your story if you own the album and has some memories associated with it or the story of the album itself gathered from the artists, the musicians on the set, the release date and many other aspects.
I have this LP Milton Banana - Milton Banana (1971), for Odeon, with me for several months and I did not share for a single reason: I have no story to tell about it. Actually, the story I use to hear is that Milton could never make a bad record and I agree one hundred percent with this statement. Tracks include:
01 - De Noite na Cama (Caetano Veloso)
02 - Mas Que Doidice (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
03 - Como Dizia o Poeta (Vinicius de Moraes / Toquinho)
04 - De Pilantra e de Poeta (Alberto Land)
05 - Você Não Entende Nada (Caetano Veloso)
06 - Tarde Em Itapoã (Vinicius de Moraes / Toquinho)
07 - Eu Não Queria (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
08 - Até Eu (Baden Powell / Paulo César Pinheiro)
09 - Garota da Minha Cidade (Johnny Alf)
10 - Mudei de Idéia (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
11 - Tudo Azul N'américa do Sul (Abílio Manoel / Carvalho)
12 - Menina da Ladeira (João Só)

Bola Sete - Live at Grace Cathedral (1976)
This post is to make us remember that Brazil has another top-notch guitarist, such like the mighty Luiz Bonfa from yesterday’s release. zecalouro has special admiration by this genius that left Brazil to USA very early and could not be associated with Bossa Nova as his counterparts.
Meet Bola Sete - Live at Grace Cathedral (1976), a live set that was made as a benefit for a hunger organization and an acclaimed album showing Bola Sete on what is considered his best live performance. It is hard to write about something that by definition is exceptional. The last track, Tio George is Bola Sete tribute to his uncle who taught him to play guitar. Tracks include:
01 - Jongo
02 - Gaucho / Meu Ogum
03 - Carnival Nights
04 - Flamenco Fantasy
05 - Ocean Waves (O Mar)
06 - Jongada
07 - O Astronauto
08 - Vira Mundo Penba
09 - Guitar Lamento
10 - Tio George

This post is to present a unique and very hard to find LP taking advantage of November 20th, which is officially The Black Consciousness Day in Brazil. There is a great diversity in the way people celebrate this date. Some view it from a religious perspective some others - probably the majority - view it as Zumbi Day - our Afro-Brazilian hero that have helped at the construction of an alternative to racism and colonialism on Brazilian soil.
The overall idea of this post was decided today on a phone call between zecalouro and Ed Motta, which I want to say thanks for providing this unique piece, Orquestra Afro-Brasileira - Orquestra Afro-Brasileira (1968), a Brazilian orchestra from the 60's, lead by the Maestro Abigail Moura that is all about unique percussion instruments with authentic Afro Brazilian rhythms.
It is hard to describe what you will get with this LP, I think the best approach is to introduce personnel listing to foreseen by the instruments what this record exactly is.
My special gratitude to Ed Motta for planning together this post and introduce this unique orchestra to Loronixers. Ticiana also made some complimentary work with historical research.

Sandra - A Voz Balanco... Samba 35mm (196?)
Yes, she won! Who? Sandra - A Voz Balanco... Samba 35MM (19??), for Pawal. I received this some months ago, just when Loronix was beginning and I cannot remember who made this contribution. I spent a week or two searching for information and decided to terminate my searches. Sandra and her LP were filed under "zecalouro's mysteries to be solved".
Today I decided to give her another try, not searching again, but listening.... Nice LP, nice singer, nice orchestra. I could not resist and I'm sharing. My apologies for sending this to Loronixers without any info, my apologies also to the contributor, which I could not remember. Anyway, this is Sandra, you cannot go wrong with her.
Last minute info, Sandra has started as crooner at the legendary Boite Drink.

Os Cobras - O LP (1964)
This is a perfect name for a wonderful Samba Jazz instrumental combo, meet Os Cobras - O LP (1964), for RCA. Os Cobras - The Snakes – are the ones that exceed the expectations and are the best on their duties. This is the first and only release by Os Cobras.
Anyway, this is the kind of post that you make better if you introduce the musicians and this is the most awesome personnel listing I have seen so far at Loronix. Check this out.

Vinicius de Moraes - Poeta y Amigo | by Various Artists (1980)
I have received this LP from Pablo, the great Argentinean contributor, and kept with me for more than a month. Pablo said that Vinicius de Moraes - Poeta y Amigo | Various Artists (1980), for Philips, was released only in Argentina and Pablo is correct, this LP is exclusive of Argentina and seems to be a tribute to Vinicius de Moraes, the songs are Vinicius de Moraes compositions performed by several artists, such as Toquinho, Chico Buarque, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Nara Leao, Baden Powell, Quarteto em Cy among others.
It is a beautiful LP, excellent for those who are looking for a Vinicius de Moraes panorama. There is an instrumental track performed by Sergio Mendes with Bossa Rio, Ella es Carioca, credited by mistake as Bossa Trio. Lalo Schifrin also has a stake, closing the album with Insensatez. Tracks include:
01 - Samba para Vinicius - Toquinho y Chico Buarque
02 - Ella es Carioca - Sergio Mendes y Bossa Trio
03 - Modinha - Elis Regina
04 - Samba de Regresso - Vinicius y Toquinho
05 - Maria Marta - Nara Leao
06 - Samba de Bendicion - Vinicius y Quarteto em Cy
07 - La Chica de Ipanema - Antonio Carlos Jobim
08 - Olha Maria - Chico Buarque
09 - Canto de Ossanha - Baden Powell
10 - Soneto de Reparacion - Elis Regina y Tom Jobim
11 - Tarde de Itapoa - Toquinho
12 - Insensatez - Lalo Schifrin

Hermeto Pascoal - Sinfonica em Quadrinhos | with Orquestra Sinfonica Jovem de Sao Paulo
This is a bootleg recording of Hermeto Pascoal with the Orquestra Sinfonica Jovem de Sao Paulo. No, I'm not going nuts, Hermeto used to urge the audiences to record his live performances and spread the tapes, in an attempt to overcome the indifference of recording companies to his music, that's what we have here.
Hermeto experiences with classical music on this tape, recorded with an orchestra at Teatro Municipal de Sao Paulo. The exact date of this recording is uncertain, probably it is from the late 80's. Anyway, this is Hermeto Pascoal on classics and you should not miss.
Post post information: please read this post comments with accurate information provided by Jovino Santos Neto, which is the Musical Director of this concert. Thanks for the info Maestro.

Tito Madi - Romance (1961)
And the last post goes to... Tito Madi - Romance (1961). Why zecalouro is saying that? Easy, as day passes, it has been really hard to decide the last post. Today, the choices were all great, solid records from end to end, but Tito Madi was selected.
Actually, I was planning the first Tito Madi LP, A Saudade Mata a Gente (1958), but the cover available here is not on a good resolution, great disappointment. Anyway you will have a lot to discover in Romance, a nice LP with Maestro Lyrio Panicali helping Tito with orchestra and chorus arrangements. A truly beautiful record that I hope you like. If you have the cover artwork of A Saudade Mata a Gente, feel free to share with us; it is another great Tito Madi LP. Tracks include:
01 - A Menina Sonha Azul (Tito Madi)
02 - A Canção da Esperança (Luis Arruda Paes / Ribeiro Filho)
03 - Ternura Antiga (Dolores Duran / Ribamar)
04 - Malagueña (Elpídio Ramirez / Pedro Galindo)
05 - Cansaço (Ruy Barros)
06 - Pedrinhas de Cor (Armando Nunes / Cícero Nunes)
07 - Ai de Mim (Capiba)
08 - Amor Em Pedaços (Gilberto Panicali / Fernando César)
09 - Nunca Me Esqueça (Never Forget Me) (D. Powell / Vrs. Tito Madi)
10 - Mi Dicha Lejana (E. Ayala Baez)
11 - A Voz dos Sinos (Othon Russo / Nazareno de Brito)
12 - Pouca Duração (Pacífico Mascarenhas)
