This is Eliane Elias - Eliane Elias Sings Jobim (1998), for Blue Note. In spite of her talent playing piano, Eliane Elias also sings all tracks on this album, not with the competence of her peers, such like Tania Maria, Flora Purim and others, but this is a nice tribute album to Antonio Carlos Jobim that should be not left apart on our celebration. Caetano likes a lot this album, released only in the United States and probably unknown to many Loronix friends outside US. Tracks include:

Zeca, I have this one and it is really a marvelous recording. The jazzy arrangements of Jobim's songs are great and the way Eliane plays the piano ... wow!
ReplyDeleteThe seleccion of LPs for this tribute to Jobim is being a success. Thanks a lot.
By the way, I have a recording that is perhaps the last one of Jobim, and one of my favourites: "Antonio Brasileiro" (1994 but released in 1995). It includes a delicious song called "Samba de Maria Luiza" in which Jobin's daughter Maria Luiza Jobim sings together with her daddy, when she was a seven-year-old girl.
It is a bit late to include this release inside the tribute, but if you'd like it I can send you the files, to share them with the other friends of Loronix. What do you think?
Abraços
Zamuro,
ReplyDeleteNo problem at all. Do what you want and how you want. You are one of the first Loronixers and I will be pleased to receive a contribution from you.
Thanks also for all quarter donations to Loronix. If I had more Zamuros like you, Loronix would be a better place.
Cheers, zeca
Thanks to you; you are very kind. To me, it is a pleasure to make a little contribution to maintain your blog, either with some money, or with a LP for the other Loronixers, ... or both at the same time! ;-)
ReplyDelete"Antonio Brasileiro" will be already in your mailbox. I hope Loronixers enjoy it like I do. It was a great work from Tom.
Abraços, zamurozien.
Thank you so very much for this. I tried to buy it recently at a local cd store in the USA but they said it was no longer available. So I found it--a record by a Brazilian living in the USA, married to an American and living in New York, interpreting the works of the great Jobim--at your wonderful Brazilian website. It really is a small world now, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure of that, thank you. It is wonderful when Loronix connects people from different parts of the globe, but with the same interest on the music from Brazil.
ReplyDeleteRegards, zeca
Roberto (USA) aqui...Mas Eliane Elias, por favor.
ReplyDeleteGracias!
