It is amazing that Caetano has this LP and I'm very happy to share and introduce Pat Thomas and the music of Lalo Schifrin by this rare and obscure record. This is the first release of an international singer at this new journey of international Bossa Nova music. I'm not sure, but I think that many friends all around the world never had the chance to hear Pat Thomas. Let's see what happens here.
This is Pat Thomas - Desafinado (60's), for MGM, featuring the obscure Chicago singer Pat Thomas, the arrangements of Lalo Schifrin and the production of Creed Taylor. Personnel listing is also of note, which includes the guitar of Laurindo Almeida and the flute of Bud Shank, among others. This is self-explanatory, a true jewel kindly sent by Caetano to Loronixers. Tracks include:
Personnel
Bud Shank (flute), Al Hendrickson and Laurindo Almeida (guitar), Buddy Clark (bass), Mel Lewis (drums), Frank Flynn, Mel Lewis, Frank Guerrero and Jack Del Rio (drums and percussion), Gerald Vinci, Amerigo Marino, Victor Arno, Paul Shure, Erno Neufeld and Robert Barene (violin), Joseph DiFiore and Alvin Dinkin (viola), Armand Kaproff and Edgar Lustgarden (cello) and Lalo Schifrin (arranger and conductor).
Track List
01 - Carnival
02 - Desafinado
03 - Baia
04 - One Note Samba
05 - C'est si Bon
06 - Recado Bossa Nova
07 - Could Be

Nunca ouvi falar nesse cantor, mas com essa combinação de arranjadores e músicos, ele está imperdível...
ReplyDeleteCisal,
ReplyDeleteÉ cantora, veja a capa.
Ela é a moça, a Pat Thomas.
Abraços, zeca
Hi ... would love to hear this but every time I try to download it I get "decompression failed." Could you re-up? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteHow are you?
You are right. Yesterday, I had to upload it on several tries. Track 01 is the issue and a replacement is on the way.
Cheers, zeca
Ola Caetaaaanoo!
ReplyDeleteVery nice album- again I am happy and smiling all around my face - another one of my top favourite sax and flute palyers: This time Bud Shank on a nice bossa jazz vocal album.
This cover is great- I like apples-if Caetano eats every day one apple he will be 100 years old-I wish this
Best wishes
Existem discos do Lalo Schifrin com muitas músicas brasileiras, até discos inteiros "temáticos" sobre a música brasileira. Se um dia você postar, muitos vão gostar, garanto. Valeu!
ReplyDeleteHELLO ZECA. YOU MADE MY DAY WITH THIS UNKNOWN, FOR ME, PAT THOMAS. THANKS A LOT. DANIEL
ReplyDeletethis is so good zeca, you make life much more bearable! Before you could not get any of this music and if you did, it was very expensive! Now its so easy, my Brazilian music education is now underway! Much love, abracos, Macaco
ReplyDeleteMy name is Patrica Phillips. I want to thank your site for playing my Aunt's album. She was a great singer and a great woman. I appreciate all the comments made on her vioce and the arrangemenof the whole project. She is a voice that will be missed.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Pat Thomas had a whole album out. My father-in-law will be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think there was a slight skip right at the beginning of track 2 (Desafinado). This track happens to be on a CD called Hey Look What I Found #11. I could try to get a rip to you, but I am not really sure how to do that.
I've tried to upload my rip of track 2 here: http://rapidshare.com/files/119436924/Pat_Thomas_-_Desafinado.mp3.html
ReplyDeleteHopefully this can be accessed.
This was one of my parents favourite albums in the 60's. But what happened to track 5?? When you go to the download site - track 5 isn't there. C'est si bon. Ce ne pas si bon!!

thank you so much - it is a masterpiece!! But Track 2 ("Desafinado"), which skips, needs to be re-uped ... this track was kindly re-uped by the user eric, but the version he provided is in mono. Thank you so much for this album, it is divine.
