Sammy Davis Jr. & Laurindo Almeida - Sammy Davis Jr. Sings and Laurindo Almeida Plays (1966)

Hello, Good Night! I got flu. I have fever, small eyes and pain on all by body, except nails and hair. After making this one, I will take Caetano's words of wisdow of flu treatment, which are a shower (I'm happy that he doesn't say "a COLD shower", otherwise I would have to call the police to put me inside the bathroom) and some medicine that I should buy downstairs.

Caetano gave also advice on today's posts. As a matter of fact, we have a day of celebration; another package has arrived, very different from the previous one and truly gorgeous. This is the opening message for today, posts already decided and engineers running around the office to get everything ready on time. Let's check this first one.

This is Sammy Davis Jr. & Laurindo Almeida - Sammy Davis Jr. Sings and Laurindo Almeida Plays (1966), featuring only the voice of Sammy Davis Jr. and the acoustic guitar of Laurindo Almeida. It's a nice surprise to hear Sammy Davis Jr. performing as a superb singer without those Las Vegas casinos tricks. Laurindo de Almeida is also a solid contributor to this very successful record. They probably had a lot of fun making this album together. Thanks for this unknown album, Caetano. Tracks include:

01 - Here's That Rainy Day
02 - Two Different Worlds
03 - The Shadow Of Your Smile
04 - Where Is Love
05 - Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye
06 - I'm Always Chasing Rainbows
07 - We'll Be Together Again
08 - Joey, Joey, Joey
09 - The Folks Who Live On The Hill
10 - Speak Low

  2. Damn! This album really showcases Sammy's vocal skills. I never realized how great his voice was until I heard this album. Laurindo paints lovely backdrops for Sammy's gentle brush strokes. I feel a sincere melancholy in his singing. Sorry for this rambling, but this album really floored me. Caetano & Zeca, you are wonderful! Mucho obrigado...

  4. This one has been in my collection a long time. A treat for you all to see this here. Sammy is surprisingly "soft" and almost melancholy. A complete departure for him. This is a beautiful album and one you will play over and over.
