Baden Powell & Stephane Grappelli - La Grande Reunion (1974) Vol. 1 & 2

Once again I had to ask for help of friends on-line to build the last post decision, not so easy this time. I had the help of 3 Loronixers, leaving Google talk with a decision made and then reaching the next friend for a validation, changing everything again. I'm happy with this decision, this album is not an unanimity, some friends like it, some others don't, but I think it is unique, full or charm and beautiful.

This is Baden Powell & Stephane Grappelli - La Grande Reunion (1974), for Festival (France). La Grande Reunion was record in only two days and zecalouro is presenting the first volume with eight of the fifteen songs recorded on that set. I was wondering how they could make fifteen songs in only two days with such different instruments without never being together before. Stephane Grappelli is one of the greatest Jazz violinists of all time, playing an important role on establishing the violin as a Jazz instrument. Tracks include:

Personnel

Baden Powell
(guitar)
Stephane Grappelli
(violin)
Guy Pedersen
(bass)

(percussion)

  2. Hello Frank-Oliver,

    Sure.

Why you did not tell me before? :-)

I was wondering yesterday about making the whole session (both albums). I will make it later on.

    Stay tuned.

    Cheers, zeca

Zeca, the songs weren't recorded with both guys together. Since Baden arrived too late at the studio, Grapelli left his part registered and got out. You can read this and other nice stories about Baden in his biography, "O Violão Vadio de Baden Powell", Dominique Dreyfus, Editora 34. Very nice book !!!

    Cheers.

  7. Eh eh, same as my comment on Baden's "Tempo feliz" w/ Maurício Einhorn: got a friend who plays every instrument and its aunt - including violin (he is also a jazz fan and, predictably enough, a Grappelli fan), so here's some "Brasilian" violin for him (and, well, myself).
    Grazie assai,

  8. thanks 1 million times again for all this beautiful music, but once again:
can I be useful if I send corrections for text (incorrect english) or titles?
Like here, you can even see it on the cover "La Grande Réunion" instead of La Grand Reunion.
Apart from that, is there somewhere or somehow a therapy to stop downloading all these wonderful albums? All these precious pearls, a huge treasure, and you share it with whoever comes around.. Billionfold thanks again
    Rob

    Thanks for this one.
