Modulo Quatro - Bossa Carrossel Brasileiro (1970)

Nem tudo que é velho é bom. This is a very important statement to keep in mind if you are planning to start a live as collector, stands in English as something like, "Not everything that is old is good", or making some poetry, "Not everything is old is gold". This is one among several things I learn with my friend Caetano Rodrigues. I could see it working last time we were together in Sao Paulo, I made some wrong picks buying music by the cover, with no previous research or listening.

It is amazing what Caetano provides to us with his selections. It is much more than making albums available, Caetano works as an advisor to us, putting his knowledge available with nothing in mind except the his love with the music from Brazil and the great kindness for our community, thanks once again, Caetano!

This is Modulo Quatro - Bossa Carrossel Brasileiro (1970), for Chantecler. Quick survey: Who knew this group and this album before? Who ever heard about them? I'm sure that just a few friends had the chance to see it listed on e-bay or available at some old vinyl shop. It is very hard to describe this modern and breathtaking instrumental album; an e-bay seller would say something like "Killer Latin-funk-groove-boogie-soul". Our great friend Quimsy would say it has "infectious SambaJazz cuts on a cosmic groovy fusion masterpiece", sorry Quimsy, I love your reviews and I would love to see how you would describe this amazing album.

Little is know about Modulo Quatro, it seems this is their first and only album. I'm asking for strong feedback on another great Caetano Rodrigues release. Tracks include:

Carlos Nóbrega

Mário Augusto

Joni Soto

Oh this so on the button...

This record is pure distilled summer. An infectious non-stop ride through all that is good in Brasilian music.

Highest respect to you and Caetano for this toe-tapping nugget.
