Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Creuza e Toquinho - En La Fusa (1970)

This is what I call timeless music, recorded in 1970; it is fresh as it was more 25 years ago. We have already shown Loronixers the collaboration between Vinicius, Maria Bethania and Toquinho, now it is time to show the most popular album from this trio, with Maria Creuza replacing Maria Bethania.

This is Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Creuza e Toquinho - En La Fusa (1970), for Trova. I don't known how wide it is, but I always thought this album was recorded live in La Fusa nightclub, I was wrong, this is an studio recording with applauses recorded previously in La Fusa while they were performing there. I think this is the kind of a self-explanatory release, all these Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho trio editions are really above the average. Tracks include:

01 - Copa do Mundo (Tradicional)
02 - A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Tomara (Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Que Maravilha (Toquinho / Jorge Ben "Jorge Benjor")
05 - Lamento no Morro (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Berimbau (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes) Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Irene (Caetano Veloso)
08 - Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 - Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - Samba Em Prelúdio (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
11 - Catendê (Antônio Carlos Pinto / J. C. Figueiredo / J. Tavares)
12 - Valsa da Tunísia (Vinicius de Moraes)
13 - Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
14 - Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
15 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)

  1. Good morning Zeca,
I like your words about this album "self-explanatory release"
I think there is perhaps no bad Toquinho/Vinicius album in the 70's .I don't know a bad one from this period- really great things they made in the 70's and the best are perhaps this ones where they met femmale singers. I remember to the first time I listened to this album-I was really amazed.
Great to think again about this.

    Best wishes

  3. This is a very special LP for me. It was the first album of MPB I bought, around Christmas of 1987, and I did it because I was looking for an "original version" of "Garota de Ipanema" different from the "Americanized" versions of Astrud Gilberto (yes, I like more the versions is Portuguese or Brasileiro than the English ones). When I heard the rest of the tracks, I fell in love with the whole album.

From the vinyl, I recorded the music in a cassette and used to listen to it in my car (some hundred of times, could be). About three years ago I bought it also in CD format, and passed to my hard disc in MP3 format. It is one of my favourite recordings, and my daughter's too.

The Spanish commentaries of Vinicius about the music, the introduction of Toquinho and Maria Creuza, his jokes (about Josephine Baker and Toquinho, for example), the freshness of the music (recorded in a studio), and the ambiance of La Fusa, recorded live during the performance, make this album simply GREAT! A MUST; ever.

Loronixers, very, very recommended. What are you waiting to push the download buttons? :-)
