ReplyDeleteI really liked this record. I have not heard of Choro before, is it considered Brazilian folk music?
-Brian
Hello Brian,
ReplyDeleteThanks once again!
Choro is not folk or regional music, it was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the end of 19th century.
It is a very rich music style with beautiful melodies and complex harmonies, mostly instrumental music. There are several Choro albums at Loronix, please let me know if you want recommendations, I can grab the best picks.
Cheers, zeca

For all choro lovers, there's a lovely documentary about modern choro musicians directed by the Finn Mika Kaurismäki. It's titled "Brasileirinho" and features such notable performers as Guinga, Zezé Gonzaga and Elza Soares.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the melodies in this record.
ReplyDeleteKeep posting these perfect albuns please. And the scans are great, they help us a lot. Thank you. You're doin' a great service to Brazilian music.
