I have been on a never ending hunting for Bola Sete albums recorded in Brazil before he made his move to the US. Bola Sete started his international career before Bossa Nova, he left Brazil in the very beginning of the 60's. Brazilian albums were released by Odeon, the first in 1957, followed by five or six others really impossible to find. Anyway, let's stay with this one while the hunting continues.
This is Bola Sete - The Incomparable Bola Sete (1965), for Fantasy. I was surprised when checking www.bolasete.com today and realize that The Incomparable Bola Sete is different from Bola Sete Tour the Force, which is a reissue of Bossa Nova. Bola Sete performs solo and accompanied by a traditional quartet. The song that I like most is 07 - Valsa de Uma Cidade (Ismael Netto / Antonio Maria), a great Bola Sete rendition. Personnel is not credited. Tracks include:
- Bolido (Bola Sete)
- Lamento de Negro (Bola Sete)
- Influência do Jazz (Carlos Lyra)
- Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
- Saravá (Bola Sete / Konrad)
- Be-bossa (Bola Sete)
- Valsa de Uma Cidade (Ismael Netto / Antônio Maria)
- Just Another Love (Bola Sete)
- The Girl From Lodi (Bola Sete)
- Original Joe's (Bola Sete)
