Marilia Medalha took me by surprise a week ago when Loronixers gave a very good feedback on comments and downloads of her debut a LP for Philips. I decided to call her back to our community, not alone this time, but accompanied by two great Bossa Nova icons, Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho.
This is Vinicius, Marilia Medalha e Toquinho - Como Dizia o Poeta... Musica Nova (1971), for RGE. It seems to be impossible for Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho to make a regular album, perhaps even if they want to make it. They also have a special talent to bring Brazilian Divas for collaborations and make them shine, delivering their best. The repertoire features a couple of well-known songs by the duo, with highlights to Tarde em Itapoan, Como Dizia o Poeta and Na Tonga da Mironga do Kabulete, arrangements by Maestro Jose Briamonte. Musica Nova is that kind of album that saves your whole day if you take it for a hearing in the morning as your first thing you do. Tracks include:
- Tarde Em Itapoã (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
- Como Dizia o Poeta (Sobre o Adágio de Albinoni) (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
- Tomara (Vinicius de Moraes)
- Valsa Para o Ausente (Vinicius de Moraes / Marília Medalha)
- Samba de Gesse (Vinicius de Moraes)
- A Tonga da Mironga do Kabuletê (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes) with Monsueto
- A Bênção Bahia (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
- Mais Um Adeus (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
- A Vez do Dombe (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
- O Grande Apelo (Vinicius de Moraes / Marília Medalha)
- Samba da Rosa (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
- Melancia e Coco Verde (Vinicius de Moraes)
Thakyou Zeca, I love Marilha Medalia. Linda! Abracos, macaco
