It is truly amazing that Caetano has the 10-inch version of this record that has beautiful facts to comment. Let's make it straight that time presenting this real jewel, introducing artists and telling the story behind this album.
This is Garoto - Garoto Revive em Alta Fidelidade Ary Barroso (1957), for Odeon. Garoto (Anibal Augusto Sardinha) was a musician ahead of his time, very underrated and considered a genius. Garoto started very early, making his first recording in 1930 for Parlophon, under artistic direction of the Maestro Radames Gnattali. Garoto was a violonist in a time where violao players were considered outsiders, living in the margin of society. He has the honor of being the first musician to play a violao inside the elitist theatre Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro.
This album recorded and released two years before Garoto's passing in 1955 and has the participation of Maestro Leo Peracchi with orchestra. Actually, Garoto was not in the set at the recording sessions of 1957. You will hear Garoto violao in all tracks and these recordings were found lost on a closet two years before his passing.
Maestro Leo Peracchi decided to make orchestra arrangements to the tapes found and the record was finally built. With the modern technology of today this technique is business as usual, however, in 1967, it was something close to impossible, this session was built with orchestra playing on top of Garoto's recording with microphones capturing the environment sound.
Anyway, an anthological album of Brazilian music history with Garoto playing with Maestro Leo Perachi Ary Barroso compositions. Tracks include:
01 - Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
02 - No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
03 - Tu (Ary Barroso)
04 - Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)
05 - Terra Sêca (Ary Barroso)
06 - Risque (Ary Barroso)
07 - Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso)

Question: Who are these friends?

Annoucement | Loronix Find It! is up and running
Hello Friends! Good Night! I wish I could be less tired to announce this major new feature to Loronixers. I have been working very hard to make it for today and I'm really glad to present it to Loronixers. You are probably wondering how we did it so fast typing 997 records in less than a week. The answer has a name, Pablo, The Magnificent.
Pablo was among the 46 friends who decided to spend a time of their life to Loronix. Pablo is also an IT professional and without asking developed a computer program that "grabs" Loronix website to collect the information needed from the volunteers friend on the announced worldwide typing effort. Thanks Pablo and thanks everybody who engage our typing initiative.
My feelings are now contradictory, I'm happy to have Loronix Find It! up and running and frustrated to do not take a great time with friends working together. I hope we will have another chance to make that, I will find a way to work together with Loronixers. It is time to celebrate and it is time to thanks Fabio, The Magnificent.
If you are living in Brazil and if you need IT services from Pablo, just reach his website agency, Konb, at http://www.konb.com.br. Thanks Pablo, you made my week and the week of Loronixers
Let's talk about Loronix Find It. It is easy to reach it, a permanent icon is now positioned at the right, please use that icon to get access to the system. When inside Find It, the easier way to find records is typing the desired information at Quick Seach and and then click on it Loronix Find It will return records and you are done, a blue globe was strategically placed on each record and you should click at the globe to reach the information you need. Loronix Find It is smarter then zecalouro, finding the information needed examining the post title, artist name, genre, etc.
There are some improvements to be made. Record labels are empty, I will be filling it with data in the forthcoming days and Genre needs some clarification, minor details that should not spoil the use of Find It. That's it.
Thanks Pablo! Thanks everybody! Thanks a MILLION volunteers! Please give us your feedback on this new feature and do not miss Loronix Find It, just click at the vinyl bellow.

Roy Budd - Buddin' Bossa (1970)
I spoke with Caetano about an hour ago and I forgot to get his always-useful briefing on this LP, so I'm making zecalouro's first impressions on it. Once again, Caetano sent to us a truly obscure LP that makes you run to Google additional information. Let's see how it goes.
This is Roy Budd - Buddin' Bossa (1970), for NSPL, international late Bossa Nova by the pianist Roy Buddy. It seems that Roy Budd understands the Bossa Nova business. He spent several holidays in Brazil and simply adores Brazilian Music and Buddin' Bossa is considered the album that Roy Budd wanted to make all of his life. He was so confident that you will see at back cover a Budd statement saying that Buddin' Bossa is the best Bossa Nova LP recorded outside Brazil and this record was not released in 1970, a time that several others excellent records in the same style were already released. I think this LP will be a treat to several Loronixers. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - The Girl from Ipanema
02 - How Insensitive
03 - Desipilado (taken from back cover)
04 - I Appreciate so Much
05 - Meditation
06 - A Man and a Woman
07 - Quiet Nights
08 - One Note Samba
09 - It Only Goes to Show
10 - Little Boat
11 - So Nice
12 - The Girl from Southend on Sea

Don Junior e Seu Sax Maravilhoso, Conjunto e Orquestra - Sambas Nr. 2 (1963)
Hello, Good Night! I don't want to bother everybody with these off-topic issues, but I cannot start today without telling how awful my Internet connection is since yesterday nights. I'm unable to upload big files and the start of the collaboration with Loronixers to create our discography is being postponed. I'm not sad, only amazed and really surprised with such long outage, spoiling Loronix a little bit and my living with a great impact.
Anyway, I'm happy to be here with you to start another day of great Caetano music, as Caetano's days always uses to be. This is the record that I have been postponing daily, so I decided to make it happen as the first one just to guarantee.

Musicians on the recording session are not credit, but everybody knows that Don Junior is the might Argentinean born sax player Hector Costita with the supervision and musical direction of Maestro Pocho, also known as Ruben Perez. If you had the chance to watch the last video with vintage Rio de Janeiro images, you will remember the wonderful sax as background music by Don Junior. Now it is the chance to have it on a solo LP. The Girls from Bahia - Pardon my English (1967)
Today at 7pm, I started the upload of what was supposed to be the last post of the day. Now it is twenty past midnight and the gauge shows 93% complete. Just read an email from g picanco demonstrating what I thought it was a rumor: an abnormal activity of people using Brazilian government tax application at the same time is making traffic overload. Anyway, it is late, so I'm giving up that choice. However, the day is not ruined, just the opposite, this is a most wanted release and everybody will enjoy it. Thanks once again Caetano for this very hard to find LP.

Luiz Eca & Jerzy Milewski Ensemble - Duas Suites Instrumentais de Luiz Eca (1988)
I think everybody will be surprised to see this post, supposed to be available at the next Caetano Rodrigues MD transfer and anticipated by zecalouro, lucky parrot that found this vinyl for less than a glass of tea on his last hunt at the old vinyl stores in Copacabana. Let's see what happens. Maybe I'm wrong, instead of excited by a unknown release, everybody would know it, but don’t throw tomatoes at zecalouro, please. I'm curious.
This is Luiz Eca & Jerzy Milewski Ensemble - Duas Suites Instrumentais de Luiz Eca (1988), produced by Nestle, Brasil. This album was never commercially available; it was produced by Nestle Brazil for a marketing campaign, that's why I think it is widely unknown outside Brazil. Duas Suites Instrumentais de Luiz Eca, features two Eca compositions, one for each side. Jerzy Milewski is a Polish violin player and also producer of this LP. Tracks include:

Special Post | Rio de Janeiro 442nd Anniversary Celebration
Hello, Good Night! While Loronix scientists are working hard on tonight posts, let's celebrate Rio de Janeiro 442nd Anniversary (yes, it is today) with this video featuring really nice vintage images of this wonderful city in the 50's. The background music is Chorou Chorou, performed by Don Junior and carefully selected by this humble parrot.
Meanwhile, I'm leaving to buy batteries for taking cover pictures.
Hope uEnjoy!
Awesome Helicopter Flight in 1967 - Rio de Janeiro
Here we go again on a complimentary celebration of Rio de Janeiro 442nd Anniversary. This is an really amazing video that .is being reposted. It was released at the beginning of Loronix and I think many of our new friends did not have the chance to watch.
This is an awesome helicopter flight music video with Roberto Carlos in Rio de Janeiro, 1967. Probably, the only film where a helicopter flights inside a tunnel with no special effects or cheating. Even if you don't live in Rio de Janeiro, this is amazing by the music and landscapes. How the city has changed in 40 years.
Hope uEnjoy!

Manfredo e Seu Conjunto - Evolucao (1964)
I happened again, not a tragedy and no big deal, just the willing to make things perfect, but the post we decided to be the great close of the day is cancelled. Perhaps tomorrow. But I'm not bored, the replacement is great. Look at the picture. This is a very hard to find album, requested by several Loronixers. Sent by Caetano Rodrigues, The Great.
This is Manfredo e Seu Conjunto - Evolucao (1964), for RGE, perhaps one of most sought after album released by Manfredo Fest. Take a special attention to the quality of these MP3s, ripped by Caetano Rodrigues on best of breed equipment. Caetano is also an expert on those mysterious cartridges, stylus, tone arms brands and serial numbers. It is amazing. He knows everything by heart and I learned a lot with him. This is all for the benefit of our community, the deliverables were improved a lot in the last weeks and issue reporting are being kept to a minimum.
I was supposed to speak about Manfredo Festand I'm here talking about equipments. It's because the music is self-explanatory, missing on several serious collections and essential. Mr. JimR will be pleased. Thanks Caetano. Tracks include:

Rob McCornnell & The Boss Brass - Atras da Porta (1983)
Here we go again on another really above the average release by Caetano Rodrigues, truly great this time. I said before that I have limited knowledge and with the music made outside of Brazil, even if is based on Bossa Nova and Brazilian music, such like the fine releases we are having on this new and fantastic Caetano contribution.
In the other hand, I'm a parrot drove by feelings and experience accumulated by a few years as musician and several years as a music fan and avid listener. The first time someone sent me a Jazz record, my listening expectation was exactly what I just heard today when hearing this piece, full of solos, soulful arrangements, different situations throughout the record and within tracks, etc.
This is Rob McConnell & The Boss Brass - Atras da Porta (1983), for MCA. Rob McConnell is a renowned valve piston player and the Boss Brass is a awesome big band, active since the mid 70's with several members, so many that I could not cope with the big listing. Caetano has a special appreciation for this album and I think I will get used to it very soon. The ultimate experience will be tomorrow with zecalouro, checking his parrot reaction to this big 48 minutes set. Tracks include:
01 - Flowers
02 - Jo Jos Dance
03 - Atras da Porta
04 - Amor Ate o Fim
05 - Autumn in New York
06 - Jobim Meddley
07 - Didi
08 - Bye Bye Blues

Hope uEnjoy!

Vince Guaraldi / Bola Sete - y Sus Amigos (1963)
I'm just leaving a phone call with Caetano to make the decision of the posts of the day and this one was taken with no hesitation from both parts, actually, when we remember this pick we both shout out loud as we were on a soccer stadium, saying YEEES! Muito bom! É ESSE MESMO and other terms that are not appropriate. Let's check the reason for this great enthusiasm.
This is Vince Guaraldi and Bola Sete - & Sus Amigos (1963), for Fantasy, the first of a series of collaborations of the great Brazilian guitar player Bola Sete and the jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi, featuring Bola Sete (guitar, arrangements), Vince Guaraldi (piano, arrangements), Fred Marshall (bass) and Jerry Granelli (drums). The first thing that came to my mind when I heard this album was: "these guys are long-time friends". Big mistake of mine, I read that they knew each other one day before the recording session. Caetano kindly present us a Spanish edition, the US edition is Vince Guaraldi / Bola Sete & Friends. Tracks include:
01 - Days of Wine and Roses
02 - Star Song
03 - Mambossa
04 - Moon Rays
05 - Casaba

Special Post | The real Osvaldo Luiz e Seu Conjunto cover artwork
Remember the mystery of the fake Osvaldo Luiz e Seu Conjunto cover artwork? If you don't, a couple of days ago, Loronix released an Osvaldo Luis LP with a really suspicious cover. By that time, I asked if someone could make a scan of the real cover artwork, just to make sure it the previous one was fake or not. Caetano Rodrigues made it and this is a cover update.
Meanwhile, Simon Boutman sent a message on the earlier post announcing himself as the author of the fake cover. Simon said also that he would come back in a matter of days to tell us the story behind the change he made.
Simon Boutman is the owner and maintainer of the great Microgrooves. Let's call Simon to explain here what exactly is the story he wants to tell us.
A full scan of the front cover is here and the back is also here.
Thanks Caetano for providing this mandatory cover update.
Hope uEnjoy!

Pocho - Parada Dancante Nr. 1 (1957)
Hello, Good Night! Yesterday, I received the first Loronixer from outside of Brazil in my place. It was funny. I could see his disappointment at the first site of my home, he was probably wondering about LPs all around the place and several computers with flashing lights, etc. The only computer I have is a tiny and old notebook, smaller than Caetano's Bossa Nova e Outras Bossas Book. Anyway, the first thing he did was to jump towards Caetano's book. Thanks Caetano, so I could let our friend from Holland putting big eye balls on your book for half an hour while I took shower and made some phone calls.
Then we left the house for some vinyl exploitation, but this is long story that I will save for later when he arrives The Netherlands.
I will start the day showing a new Maestro that will have a connection with the closing post, a great contribution of the Loronix wanusi that should provide a nice start on this Wednesday.
This is Pocho - Parada Dancante Nr. 1 (1957), for RGE. Pocho is one of the favorites Caetano Rodrigues Maestros and this is the first Pocho solo release at Loronix. Pocho has a real name, Ruben Perez, used once in a while. This is the first out of a series of four "Parada Dancante" releases. Pocho has the accompaniment of Conjunto RGE. Please give me your feedback on this record, so we can schedule other Pocho releases in the forthcoming weeks. Tracks include:
01 - Sorriu Para Mim (Garoto / Luis Cláudio)
02 - Esperame En El Cielo (Francisco Lopez Vidal "Paquito")
03 - Dora Me Disse (Jota Júnior / Oldemar Magalhães)
04 - Minha Oração (George Boulanger)
05 - Just Walking In The Rain (J. Bragg / R. S. Riley)
06 - Ouça (Maysa)
07 - Enrolando o Rock (Betinho / Heitor Carillo)
08 - Arrancame La Vida (Agustin Lara)
09 - Outro Dia Virá (Fernando César / Nazareno de Brito)
10 - Chove Lá Fora (Tito Madi)
11 - Prece de Amor (René Bittencourt)
12 - Obsession (Pedro Flores)

Pedrinho Rodrigues - Pedrinho Rodrigues (1968) with Ed Lincoln e Seu Conjunto
It will be wonderful to close today with the great Pedrinho Rodrigues, one of the Samba singers that I like most and probably unknown by many Loronix friends. This is part of the last Caetano Rodrigues contribution and what amazes me most with this last pack of Caetano is the mix he have selected with Brazilian people and international artists performing Bossa Nova and the overall quality of each album, each one really above the average. Thanks once again, Caetano.
This is Pedrinho Rodrigues - Pedrinho Rodrigues (1963), for Musidisc, featuring Ed Lincoln e Seu Conjunto. If you are a fan of Miltinho (and I know there are many Miltinho fans), you should not miss this one. Pedrinho Rodrigues sings very nice and the album is really solid. Ed Lincoln performs with his band, making the difference with his swinging organ dueling with the voice of Pedrinho in all tracks. Give us your feedback in comments section. I'm very happy to have selected Pedrinho as the closing artist. Tracks include:
01 - Neném (Luis Bandeira / Anselmo Mazzoni)
02 - É Demais (Nonato Buzar)
03 - Faço Um Lé Lé Lé (Haroldo Barbosa / Luis Reis)
04 - Eu Era Triste (Ribamar (1) / Orlando Henriques)

Obrigado antecipadamente!

Carlos Machado - A Grande Revista (1955)
With Loronixers having fun with the challenges to identify artists from the radio golden age, I think it is time to show through a live recording, one of the coolest artistic manifestation from Brazil, very popular and famous in the 40's and 50's, the Teatro Revista. Teatro Revista were popular theatre plays with live music and comedy based on what was Brazil daily agenda, covering, spots, politics and other social critics. A bit of sensuality was also part of Teatro Revista plays. Let's check this very old Mocambo record, featuring one of the greatest Brazilian artists on the genre, Grande Otelo.
This is Carlos Machado - A Grande Revista (1955), for Mocambo, recorded live at a Teatro Revista play, performed at Night and Day nightclub, featuring Grande Otelo, Silvia Fernanda, Mara Abrantes, Billy Davis and Gilda Valença. This is a great stuff if you had the chance to live those good times, I never could realized that a record with the live audio of a Teatro Revista still exists. I did not find a reasonable Grande Otelo performance on video, that's why I'm showing another great artists of those days, Oscarito, with a excerpt of a 1950 movie, Aviso aos Navegantes, directed by Watson Macedo. Tracks included with the music this time.

Brasilia Nueve - How Insensitive (1969) featuring Bill Pott and Zoots Zims
Caetano Rodrigues said wonders about this album since it has arrived here. Actually, this LP was supposed to be released yesterday when that technical difficulties appeared. It is the kind of album that you make discovers each time you take for a hearing. Thanks Caetano for making it available, some type of music is very hard to identify, your knowledge has been of a great help to zecalouro and Loronixers.
This is Brasilia Nueve - How Insensitive (1969), for Decca. I forgot to check with Caetano and I think the band known here as Brasilia Nueve was assembled only to release this album, recorded in New York. The main performer is the jazz pianist Bill Potts, followed by the sax tenor of Zoot Zimns and a special artist playing vibes that could not be listed, probably due contracts obligations. They made together a nice approach to Bossa Nova, melting at the same song the Bossa Nova rhythm, suddenly changing to jazz on very complex and transitions. Thanks Caetano for this LP, which is a very hard to find information about. Tracks include:
01 - Insensatez
02 - Brasiville
03 - Dia Dia
04 - Agora Posso Entende-lo
05 - Samba da Bencao
06 - Ensina-me Esta Noite
07 - Meditacao

10 - Esquecendo Voce

Special Post | Who are these artists? (NEW)
I know, several friends said that the boys challenge was not so good... I'm replacing boys with the girls. The difficult level is "medium" and the pictures were all part of a great "chalenge" chalenge contribution made by our friend g picanco that understands everything about music and these delicious vintage stuff of the old times. Here we go again..
Question, who are these artists?
Hope uEnjoy!

O Grupo - O Grupo (1968)
Hello, Good Night! Promising night by the way, as the nights with Caetano's music uses to be. The daily plan has already been established by a phone call with Caetano Rodrigues. Covers are photographed, music is ready, zecalouro is dreaming and I'm really excited to start the posts of the day. Nothing can be stopping me today, no refrigerator, no photo issues, nothing. Everything is running, as it should be today. Cross your fingers, we will have a great night. By the way, even with those troubles, every night sponsored by Caetano is great.
This is O Grupo - O Grupo (1968), for Odeon. Four boys making vocalizes with the support of top-notch arrangers. I spoke with Caetano to gather more information of this group; Caetano said that this record is probably the first and only album released by O Grupo. Perhaps Odeon considered O Grupo a great promise, putting the best team of arrangers to work with O Grupo. Five Maestros were on the set, each one collaborating individually on given tracks. They are represented on track list. O Grupo is a quartet, featuring Roberval, Raimundo, Jaime e Maurício. Tracks include:
01 - Alegria de Carnaval (Antônio Adolfo / Tibério Gaspar) (1)
02 - Januária (Chico Buarque) (1)

Conjunto Sambossa - Isto e Bossa Nova Mesmo (1963)
When you start being confident that you know Bossa Nova, the artists, the groups, the trios and the most important records, here comes Caetano Rodrigues with this contribution in the middle of several other nice ones that we have been speaking about in the last days. Now I feel happy that my mess, explained in the last post, was of use, this is a nice Samba Jazz LP.
This is Conjunto Sambossa - Isto e Bossa Nova Mesmo (1963), for Pawal, featuring a not identified instrumental combo based on drums (played such like Milton Banana), bass, guitar, piano and a great brass session, everything arranged by Maestro Nelsinho. Isto e Bossa Nova Mesmo is that kind of record that makes you wonder who are the musicians in a first hearing. I will check for more information with Caetano Rodrigues tomorrow night, since we did not speak about Conjunto Sambossa already. I could not find any other Conjunto Sambossa LP searching the Internet. Tracks include:
01 - Influência do Jazz (Carlos Lyra)
02 - Você e Eu (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Barquinho (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
04 - O Pato (Jaime Silva / Neusa Teixeira)
05 - Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
06 - Nós e o Mar (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
07 - Ôba Lá Lá (João Gilberto)
08 - Só Danço Samba (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)

Os Boemios - Os Boemios (1965)
I need to tell you what happened in the last two hours to now, just to show how several small facts can lead a glory blogging day into a disaster. I spoke with Caetano and we decided together by a fantastic record as the closing post. We were happy with our decision and Caetano spent all his patience with zeca explaining the record in details, etc. Piece of cake, just create the MP3s and bingo. I hang-up the phone, open the vault, withdraw the MD 22, close the vault and went to the kitchen to drink some water.
Then I realize that MD 22 was lost and spent the next 30 minutes on searches around the apartment to find the MD. Tired and very worried, I went to the kitchen to drink another glass of water. I found the MD inside the refrigerator. I swear. I think I return the water and the MD to the refrigerator without knowing. So I finally make the transfer and everything was perfect in the world and started the phase that I like most, cover photos. Another tragedy, the cover is dark, really dark and I could not make it on an acceptable quality.
The last hope on these situations are the z-Files. The z-Files is a shelf with posts prepared in advance, to be used in those days with a great amount of work or any other situation that they come handy, such like this one. Anyway, stay with this gorgeous LP from Os Boemios, when I make a z-Files storage retrieval to start making a new Caetano release, selected with an additional criterion, a light cover.
This is Os Boemios - Os Boemios (1965), for Musidisc, featuring musical teachers of the Radio Ministerio da Educacao (Radio MEC), an outstanding chorinho recording played by this unique group of music teachers. Os Boemios were under contract of Nilo Sergio's Musidisc to release this LP, which is their only release. If you are fan of traditional chorinho with beautiful clarinet solos and compositions of chorinho legends such like Luis Americano, Ernesto Nazareth, Pixinguinha and others, this is the right choice. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - André de Sapato Novo (André Victor Correia)

Music Video | Joao Gilberto e Caetano Veloso - Garota de Ipanema
Antonio Carlos Jobim & Astud Gilberto called my attention to something that I'm looking for several months, the whole concert of Joao Gilberto and Caetano Veloso recorded in Argentina and released on a DVD never released in Brazil. Just to tease Loronixers, I'm making available this excerpt, which is all I have from this concert, Joao Gilberto and Caetano Veloso performing Garota de Ipanema.
Hope uEnjoy!

Charlie Byrd with Orchestra - More Brazilian Byrd (1967)
Charlie Byrd and this Amazing cover at Loronix, just on top of my place. zecalouro would have a cardiac arrest with this thing in the real life. Parrots sometimes have problems with Macaws. Charlie Byrd seems to be a great friend of birds, in spite of Brazilian Byrd cover with Charlie Byrd smoking in front of a Macaw, bad example, Mr. Byrd. Thanks a million Caetano to make my day and the day of a thousand of Loronixers.
This is Charlie Byrd with Orchestra - More Brazilian Byrd (1967), for Columbia. Charlie Bird is an artist that deserves a special place; he was of a great help to introduce the music from Brazil for the mass United States audiences in the 60's. This record is really captivating, subtle, gentle played and very sophisticated with the orchestral arrangements by Tom Newsom. Caetano endorses this album, which is amazingly out of print, to every Loronixer. I do the same and Mr. D&C also agrees. Tracks include:
01 - One Note Samba
02 - Weekend in Guaruja
03 - Little Boat
04 - Pretty Butterfly
05 - Berimbau
06 - Agua de Beber
07 - Jequibau
08 - How Insensitive
09 - Esperando o Sol
10 - Felicidade
11 - Foi a Saudade

Special Post - Gues who are these artists...
Today's trivia is a double trivia, just to entertain the folks from Brazil and from the outside. Brazilian friends should guess who are the eight artists at the first photo taken from the archives of Radio Nacional and the friends outside Brazil should make a guess to identify the kid at the lower photo. Meanwhile, I will make a supervision work with Loronix engineers, they seems to be very confused with Caetano's great posts of the day.
Hope uEnjoy!
... and the answer is: Vinicius de Moraes and the whole team described bellow.

Antonio Carlos Jobim & Astrud Gilberto - Viva Brasil, Live (1988)
Hello, Good Night! The daylight saving days are over in Brazil and it is something that changes Loronix business as usual, mainly for the friends out of Brazil. If you are from Europe, you will see the first post one hour late. Folks at the opposite direction of our zone, one hour earlier. The only friend that does not give a damn to this change is zecalouro, he is driven by mother nature. Happy parrot.
Anyway, since you have already an introduction to this post looking at my homemade cover design, I will be straightforward, saving your time at this start of another day at Loronix.
This is Antonio Carlos Jobim & Astrud Gilberto - Viva Brasil, Live at "Jazz aus Südamerika" ZDF Jazz Club, Germany (1988), and no Label. I took sometime with the help of tcisalpino to understand what we had, this is the audio of a live concert, extracted from the video, featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud Gilberto and probably with the accompaniment of Banda Nova. We could not check if Banda Nova is performing at this concert. If you have this video, it will be of easy identification, please let us know. Tracks include:
01 - Água De Beber - Antonio Carlos Jobim
02 - The Girl From Ipanema - Astrud Gilberto
03 - Áquas De Março - Antonio Carlos Jobim
04 - Chega De Saudade - Antonio Carlos Jobim
05 - Wave - Antonio Carlos Jobim
06 - Corcovado - Antonio Carlos Jobim
07 - Garota De Ipanema - Antonio Carlos Jobim
08 - Felicidade - Antonio Carlos Jobim
09 - Samba De Uma Nota Só - Antonio Carlos Jobim
10 - Canto De Ossanha - Astrud Gilberto
11 - Adeus América - Astrud Gilberto
12 - Ponteio - Astrud Gilberto
13 - Áqua De Beber - Astrud Gilberto

Aurino & Jorginho - Na Cadencia do Samba (1963)
What a great close we have here, two artists never seen before at Loronix, Aurino with his sax tenor and Jorginho da Flauta with his flute. Thanks to Caetano Rodrigues for sharing with Loronixers and thanks also to the bossanovadreamer, responsible for making this request to Caetano and calling our attention to this nice LP.
This is Aurino & Jorginho - Na Cadencia do Samba (1963), for RCA Candem. Aurino and Jorginho da Flauta are the main performers, each one playing alternately each track throughout the album, as indicated on track list. This is solid from start to end with both giving the best they can make on top of a repertoire full of Bossa Nova standards on Samba rhythms. I will let for the several sax and flute players at Loronix to make a further evaluation, meanwhile, stop starring this nice cover and make your try. Tracks include:
01 - Na Cadência do Samba (Ataulfo Alves / Paulo Gesta) - Aurino
02 - Insensatez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) - Jorginho
03 - Sambop (Djalma Ferreira / Maurício Einhorn) - Aurino
04 - Fuga (Djalma Ferreira) - Jorginho
05 - Filosofia (Aldacir Louro / Linda Rodrigues) - Aurino
06 - Tema Sem Palavras (Durval Ferreira / Maurício Einhorn) - Jorginho
07 - Samba do Avião (Tom Jobim) - Aurino
08 - Não Dá Pé (Hianto de Almeida / Otávio Teixeira) - Jorginho
09 - A Mesma Rosa Amarela (Capiba / Carlos Penna Filho) - Aurino
10 - Receita Para Esquecer (Durval Ferreira / Orlando Henriques) - Jorginho
11 - Tristeza de Nós Dois (Durval Ferreira / Bebeto / Maurício Einhorn) - Aurino
12 - Para Não Sofrer (Tom Jobim) - Jorginho

Dalva de Andrade - Serenata Suburbana (1960)
Loronix server is down again (Arghh). Unfortunately, brand new, amazing, wonderful and awesome Caetano Rodrigues contributions will be directed to a slower route. However, the nut-sized brain of the parrot that runs Loronix was wise enough to make this album earlier. In fact I was missing some old and good female singer and this release should thrill you as I'm sure Thelma did.
This is Dalva de Andrade - Serenata Suburbana (1960), for Odeon, featuring orchestral arrangements by Maestro Lindolfo Gaya. Check the archives for another nice Dalva de Andrade LP, a Brazilian singer very connected with the golden times of Radio Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, A Era do Radio. Tracks include:
01 - Serenata Suburbana (Capiba)
02 - Chora Tua Tristeza (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
03 - Chorei Sozinha (Paulo Tito)
04 - Ser Só (Fernando César / Ted Moreno)
05 - A Grande Dor (The Big Hurt) (W. Shanklin / Vrs. Romeo Nunes)
06 - Se Tú Soubesses (Georges Moran)
07 - Bebeco e Doca (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
08 - Voltei Para Ficar (Stelinha Egg / Macedo Neto)
09 - Vou Fazer Um Samba (Evaldo Gouveia / Almeida Rego)
10 - Frustração (Osmar Navarro)
11 - Mais Que a Minha Vida (Pernambuco / Antônio Maria)
12 - Adeus (Roberto Martins / Mário Rossi)

Orquestra Rio de Janeiro - Velhas Ideias Novas (30 Anos de Samba) (1960)
This post is all about the Brazilian recording companies from the old times. Loronix has opened my eyes to see the music from Brazil on a new perspective, the record labels. It is very exciting and fun to explore Brazilian music on this way, every collector has a group of selected labels of this choice and this one is among my favorites.
This is Orquestra Rio de Janeiro - Velhas Ideias Novas (30 Anos de Samba) (1960), for Plaza, the single LP released by this wonderful orchestra that features arrangements by Severino Filho (Os Cariocas) and direction by Maestro Henrique Gandelman, the father of the Brazilian musician Leo Gandelman. This is provided by Caetano Rodrigues, also another Plaza maniac, such like zecalouro. What makes Plaza unique is the musicians, always top-notch and credited on back cover, different from others recording companies that did not care to write personnel info and even each record release date. Thanks Caetano for this awesome and very hard to find record. Tracks include:
01 - A Voz do Morro (Zé Keti)
02 - Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)
03 - Onde o Céu Azul É Mais Azul (Alberto Ribeiro / João de Barro / Alcyr Pires Vermelho)
04 - Ai Que Saudade da Amélia (Ataulfo Alves / Mário Lago)
05 - Copacabana (Alberto Ribeiro / João de Barro)
06 - A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Madureira Chorou (Carvalhinho / Julio Monteiro)
08 - Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso)
09 - Maracangalha (Dorival Caymmi)
10 - Meu Consolo É Você (Roberto Martins / Antônio Nássara)
11 - Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
12 - Agora É Cinza (Alcebíades Barcelos "Bide" / Armando "Marçal")

Thelma - Thelma Canta Nelson Cavaquinho (1966)
Hello, good night! Technology is a blessing and sometimes disappointing when there is something broken and cannot be fixed. Loronix has a hosting service that supports some visible, such like the videos and invisible not visible and important features. As you already know, this hosting service has been down since this morning and some essential data might be definitively lost. Sorry for making these "internal" issues public, it is just a small crying with my friends at Loronix, I'm not bored, on bad humor, just disappointed.
Anyway, let's get back to the music with another release sponsored by Caetano Rodrigues that is listed on must wanted lists of several friends.
This is Thelma - Thelma Canta Nelson Cavaquinho (1966), for CBS, featuring songs of one of the most underrated artists of the music from Brazil, the legendary Nelson Cavaquinho. In spite of Thelma main performance at this album, Nelson Cavaquinho compositions make the real difference. I suggest that everybody gives a try to this record, you will get the nice Thelma singer performance and the music of Nelson Cavaquinho, the best Brazilian samba composer ever. Tracks include. Oops... Just forgot to say that Nelson Cavaquinho performs on two three tracks, Historia de um Valente, Cuidado com a Outra and Rei sem Trono.
01 - Luz Negra (Nelson Cavaquinho / Amâncio Cardoso)
02 - Fora do Baralho (Nelson Cavaquinho / José Ribeiro / Antônio Gomes de Farias)
03 - Cuidado Com a Outra (Nelson Cavaquinho / Augusto Thomaz Júnior) with Nelson Cavaquinho
04 - Rio Não És Mais Criança (Nelson Cavaquinho / José Ribeiro)
05 - Luto (Nelson Cavaquinho / Sebastião Nunes / Guilherme de Brito)
06 - História de Um Valente (Nelson Cavaquinho / José Ribeiro) with Nelson Cavaquinho
07 - A Flor e o Espinho (Nelson Cavaquinho / Alcides Caminha / Guilherme de Brito)
08 - Palhaço (Osvaldo Martins / Nelson Cavaquinho / Washington Fernandes)
09 - Rei Sem Trono (Nelson Cavaquinho / Alberto Jesus) with Nelson Cavaquinho
10 - Rugas (Nelson Cavaquinho / A. Garcez / Ari Monteiro)
11 - Pecado (Nelson Cavaquinho / Ligia Uchôa)
12 - Pranto de Poeta (Guilherme de Brito / Nelson Cavaquinho)

Special Post | Question, who are these folks?
I like the picture identification challenges and today we will have two, this is the first one, to thrill Loronixers while technicians are working on Caetano material and also fighting until die to fix outages at zecalouro.com domain. We definitively need a better hosting. Videos are down all day long. However, I cannot afford the price of a 99.99% uptime service.
Question: Who are these folks?
Hope uEnjoy!

Luiz Eca & Sagrada Familia - Onda Nova do Brasil (1970)
Here comes Caetano again with another of those nice and challenging LPs. This time featuring one of Loronix favorites, Luiz Eca, accompanied by a giant group of top-notch Brazilian musicians. This LP was recorded in 1970, Brazil and besides this info and personnel listing, everything else is uncertain.
This is Luiz Eca & Sagrada Familia - Onda Nova do Brasil (1970), for Lazarus, Mexico (1978). It is amazing that this LP, recorded in Rio de Janeiro, 1970, featuring large and wonderful personnel on the set was release eight years after recorded. I spoke with Caetano about this gap, but we could not make any further research on this. I invite you to have a try and bring more info; this LP is very good and ahead of its time, full of nice experiments. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - O Homem da Sucursal - Barravento
02 - Pais Tropical
03 - Juliana
04 - Atras das Portas da Tarde
05 - Vamos Nos
06 - Sequestro
07 - Se Voce Pensa
08 - Sa Marina
09 - Yemele
10 - Please, Garcon
