This disc is an example. It has Brazil inside and was recorded by one of the best singers ever known. Definitely, it could not be out of our collection. It has only Brazilian musicians, including a special participation of Maestro Antonio Carlos Jobim. Let's see.
This is Sarah Vaughan - O Som Brasileiro de Sarah Vaughan (1978), for RCA, featuring Sarah Vaughan renditions of well-known Brazilian classics written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Durval Ferreira, Marcos Valle, Dorival Caymmi, among others. I'm really impressed by the way Sarah Vaughan sings. Tracks include:

i can't wait to hear this, thanks zeca ;)
Carinhos,Nina
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know this one was out there! Thank you very much!

Thanks a lot for another fine share, Zecalouro!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this, but being a fan of her early bop records, this brings some nice worlds together!
Cheers!
P.S.: Blogger recently shut down the Abracadabra-LPs do Brasil blog; I made the feeds of the entire content (cover, text, links) of their last few months available here:

This is an excellent album. I have it released on CD as "I love brazil". It can take a while to like the way Sarah Vaughan sings these songs, but its worth listening to until you do.
ReplyDeleteI've loved this album since it was released. I miss the Divine One, Sarah Vaughan, everyday. She has 3 or 4 brazil-inspired albums---they are all amazing.
