Hello, good evening! A friend of mine, very connected to Brazilian music scene, with access to virtually all artists, said the only artist that left nervous and anxious when contacting was Chico Buarque. He said this thing a couple of years ago and I did not understand why by that time. Today, with Loronix, this statement came to my mind and his anguish is now clear. Chico Buarque is one of the greatest Brazilian artists in activity, able to move successfully between different artistic manifestations, including the challenging terrain of literature. Above all, Chico Buarque is an artist with respect to his own beliefs, a very intelligent man. His work was long available commercially through the release of all his discography in a box set. This is the reason his music is not represented here like other artists. I am very happy to make this album, the third out three Chico Buarque initial releases for RGE, considered by many his best releases. Let's see.
This is Chico Buarque de Hollanda - Volume 3 (1968), for RGE, featuring orchestra and arrangements by Maestro Lindolpho Gaya and important participations of Toquinho, MPB-4 and recording debut of Chico Buarque sister, Cristina Buarque. Volume 3 features several well-known Chico Buarque compositions, including Retrato em Branco e Preto (Chico Buarque / Antonio Carlos Jobim), Roda Viva (Chico Buarque), Funeral de um Lavrador (Chico Buarque / Joao Cabral de Melo Neto) and my favorite Carolina (Chico Buarque). Sadly, musicians were not credited by RGE. Tracks include:
01 - Ela Desatinou (Chico Buarque)
02 - Retrato Em Branco e Preto (Tom Jobim / Chico Buarque)
03 - Januária (Chico Buarque)
04 - Desencontro (Chico Buarque) with TOQUINHO
05 - Carolina (Chico Buarque)
06 - Roda Viva (Chico Buarque) with MPB-4
07 - O Velho (Chico Buarque)
08 - Até Pensei (Chico Buarque)
09 - Sem Fantasia (Chico Buarque) with CRISTINA BUARQUE
10 - Até Segunda-feira (Chico Buarque)
11 - Funeral de Um Lavrador (Chico Buarque / João Cabral de Melo Neto)
12 - Tema Para ''Morte e Vida Severina'' (Chico Buarque)

I wish I could put my hands on that discography... I hope I will someday! Thanks zeca for this wonderful album!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for this precious musical pearl..Some of the songs from this album were new to me in this version.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big Chico Buarque fan, spent a lot of time collecting all his music and lyrics.
The latter I reassembled in a big Word-file, including translations (french or german or italian or spanish or english), it's not complete yet, I'm still looking for translations, any hint where I can find them is welcome.... Compliments also for the constant improvements of download possibilities, Loronix is getting better and better! Many thanks zeca for your wonderful work.
Rob,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback on the recently implemented features. It takes a time before people understand and use these things.
Loronix technology playground is being shaped since the beginning and will become a blogging toolkit very soon.
Kind regards,
zeca

ReplyDeleteProsita,

A Deus,
this is a very important album for me. ela desatinou was the album that got me "hooked" on brazilian music 10 years ago. greetings from o sueco agora vivendo no brasil!
ReplyDelete"Seu francisco"(like oswaldo montenegro call) is my favourite brazilian artist(together noel rosa sure ;) ).
ReplyDeleteIn torrent sites there is a link for complete discography of Mr Buarque(including songbooks).
A little late in on this one... Thanks for this. A beautiful album. Chico Buarque is unique. In fact I listened to this just after watching the film 'Bye Bye Brasil' and I was surprised to see that Buarque and Roberto Menescal contributed the music. I wonder, was that soundtrack ever released? I wonder if anyone out there has it?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, many thanks again for your tireless work Zeca. Loronix is too good. I have to ration my time here!
I bought this LP a week ago in Rio. I liked the album cover and the guy who sold it was very enthusiastic about the music. The problem is that I don't have a record player and not been able to listen to it. Till now and it's great!
