zecalouro have been with many Tamba Trios LPs and was almost used with the easy-listening professional jazz ensemble delivered by Luiz Eça and his crew. Tamba Trio - Tamba Trio (1974) is the exception. This record shows many different places, from some electronics, SambaJazz, Batucada, etc.
Surprise. Perhaps almost unknown by many friends at Loronix. This is a work of a serious Jazz Band.
This cover edition is sponsored by Varig Airlines that gave this album as a gift to their DC-10 passengers. Good times that will never go back again. Be happy if you get today a couple of peanuts with orange juice...

Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo - Live at Viersen Jazz Festival, Germany (1994)
Hermeto is a unique musician. A composer, improviser and instrumentist who is capable of playing all kinds of instruments and of turning into musical instruments everythings that his hands can hold - from water bottles to pumps, kettles and ... pigs!
His official LPs and CDs show only a small fraction of his art, more contained and less spontaneous, although always brilliant and provocative. It is in the live performances that he really shines, mixing improvisation with a continuous reharmonization of the themes he plays, and letting go the creativity of the fantastic musicians that accompany him.
This is Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo - Viersen Jazz Festival, Germany (1994). zecalouro has not been able to identify who plays with Hermeto in this jazzy presentation. But it is a savory dish to be listened and admired by Loronix friends.
More will come, since zecalouro special agents are gathering a long series of live performances by Hermeto - who, by the way, used to urge the audiences to record him and spread the tapes, in an attempt to overcome the indifference of recording companies to his music - and that what Loronix is doing.
Tracklist:
01 - Suite Paulistana
02 - Rainha da Pedra Azul
03 - Mesclado (flauta de baixo e vocalize)
04 - Flauta & Squeaky Toys
05 - Vals (flauta, piano squeaky toys)
06 - Sanfona de 8 Baixos
07 - Blues

Raul de Souza - Don't Ask my Neighbords (1978)
The legendary Brazilian trombone player Raul de Souza is back to Loronix with his 1978 LP Don't ask my Neighbords. This is the second and the last US album made by Raul partnership with George Duke. This LP style is registered as Fusion, exactly what you will find here, Jazz improvisations with rock beat and rhythms.
zecalouro likes bass and the bass player - Byron Miller - works great here with slapping on most tracks. Track List includes:
01 - Don't Ask My Neighbors (Scarborough)
02 - La Song (Mason)
03 - Daisy Mae (Duke)
04 - Beauty and the Beast (Shorter)
05 - Fortune (Casties, DeSouza)
06 - Overture (Colombier)
07 - At the Concert (Henderson)
08 - I Believe You (Addrisi)
09 - Jump Street (DeSouza)
It seems to zecalouro that Raul de Souza is a bird fan. Did you notice that there is a bird on each Raul's LP covers? Raul is a really nice guy.

Sylvia Telles - Silvia (1958)
There is nothing to add on this post. We spoke a lot about Sylvia Telles and even about her daughter Claudia. I've been browsing Ruy Castro's Bossa Nova books a couple of minutes ago. Now I can understand better how people were impacted by the time Sylvia has passed so young.

Sambalanço Trio - Sambalanço Trio (1965) Debut LP
zecalouro had a great lunch today with a friend that subtle called his attention to this great Trio from the 60's. Meet Sambalanço Trio, formed by Cesar Camargo Mariano (piano), Airto Moreira (drums) and Humberto Clayber (bass). The band recorded five albums and then became Sambrasa Trio when Cesar Camargo Mariano decided to quit and was replaced by Hermeto Pascoal.
This is the out of print debut LP, self titled, from 1965. zecalouro will ask for AMG help to better describe this album:
As the bossa nova style exited seven nascent years of development and entered into a post-pubescent stage full of confidence, the Sambalanço Trio hit the Brazilian music scene with a splash. Comprised of Cesar Camargo Mariano on piano, Humberto Clayber on bass, and future percussion superstar Airto Moreira on traps, the Sambalanço Trio had a sophisticated and multi-faceted sound, one that melded an aggressive, samba-school-on-parade sound with a subtler air, redolent of Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto, and even the Bill Evans Trio. For example, "Samblues" -- the opening track on the Sambalanço Trio's self-titled re-release -- combines Moreira's samba-derived partido alto rhythms with Mariano and Clayber's cool, blues-based melodies. On "Berimbau," traditional elements -- such as a Brazilian bagpipe intro and syncopated Capoeira rhythms -- are fused with a five-four melodic passage that sounds like a section from David Brubek's "Take Five." These two songs, along with the album as a whole, deftly illustrate how the Sambalanço Trio infused the soporific bossa nova scene of 1964 with much-needed doses of energetic rhythms, cutting-edge jazz voicings, and spontaneity. ~ All Music.

Jamelao - Jamelao Canta para Enamorados (1962)
Jamelao, born in 1913, Rio de Janeiro, official Mangueira "puxador" since the 1949. Another legendary artist from Rio's authentic Samba league. Jamelao is still active and has performed this year leading Mangueira as "puxador" on Carnaval parade, with 92 years, believe me.
By the way, what a nice cover, showing Cinelandia Square, Rio de Janeiro in the early 60's.
Track list includes:
01 - Foi assim (Lupicínio Rodrigues)
02 - Minha provação (Jamelão)
03 - Afinal eu sabia (S. Cirino - B. Gomes)
04 - Sossego de você (Guio de Morais)
05 - Graças a Deus (Ivan Paulo da Silva "Carioca")
06 - Voltei ao meu lugar (Ivan Paulo da Silva "Carioca" - Del Loro)
07 - Fim de jornada (Hélio Nascimento - Altenir Gonçalves)
08 - Tristonho (Quincas - Jamelão)
09 - Não serve pra mim (S. Cirino - B. Gomes)
10 - O amor é você (Mário Casali)
11 - Meu natal (Lupicínio Rodrigues)
12 - Onde vai sinhazinha (Ivan Paulo da Silva "Carioca")
zecalouro will let you with AMG bio, just to not go wrong.
One of the most important samba singers since the '40s, Jamelão is still active today as Mangueira's puxador (official interpreter) of sambas-enredo (the longest career in this position) and as a solo artist. He is also highly regarded as a preferred interpreter of Lupicínio Rodrigues' sambas-canção like "Ela Disse-me Assim," "Torre de Babel," "Esses Moços," "Sozinha," "Quem Há de Dizer," and "Exemplo." His most famous compositions are "Deixa Amanhecer" (the first one), "Um Dia Hás de Pagar," and "Ela Me Convidou." In 1968, he was invited to the prestigious position of member of the Ala dos Compositores (Composers' Section) of the Mangueira samba school.
Jamelão joined the Mangueira samba school's bateria (drum section) at 15, playing the tamborim (a kind of tambourine). He had his debut as a singer at the gafieira Fogão. After being a crooner in that kind of dance nightclub, he honed his skills until he was hired by Rádio Ipanema. But it was really in the gafieiras that he would become a professional, joining Luís Americano's Conjunto Brasil Danças as a crooner. In 1947, he won a contest promoted by Rádio Clube do Brasil and was hired by the station and by the Continental recording company. Around 1949, he became the puxador (official singer) in the Mangueira Carnival parades making him the longest person to ever hold the position. As a crooner with Severino Araújo's Orquestra Tabajara, Jamelão also toured Europe and continues to perform as a solo artist. ~ Alvaro Neder

Hareton Salvanini - A Virgem de Saint Tropez - OST (1974)
This LP is a cult piece from the 70's, the Original Soundtrack of the movie A Virgem de Saint Tropez (1974) by Hareton Salvanini. It is a intriguing record, mixing several influences to background the scenes from this soft-porn movie.
There is no need to take the kids out to listen to it, just some discretion with the cover, which could be to strong in the 70's but too silly for the XXI century. To better describe this LP, I will take the help of a given collector review taken from a website.
"Rare Brazilian soft-porn movie soundtrack recorded by maestro/keyboard player Hareton Salvanini. Several amazing humming breezy erotic fusion themes, plus two great wah wah led blaxploitation style tunes. A true masterpiece of the genre, and as impossible to find as any other Brazilian movie OST."

Pery Ribeiro + Bossa 3 - Encontro (1966)
Pery Ribeiro is another missing point at Loronix. Pery was the first artist to record Garota de Ipanema. Son of Herivelto Martins and Dalva de Olieira. Pery formed with Leny Andrade and Bossa Tres the group Gemini V, joined Bossa Rio with Sérgio Mendes, Gracinha Leporace, Osmar Milito, Manfredo Fest, Otávio Bailly, and Ronnie Mesquita and had an active international career.
zecalouro starts Pery Ribeiro at Loronix showing a LP considered an essential to any serious Bossa Nova collector, Pery Ribeiro + Bossa 3 - Encontro (1966).

Marku Ribas - Cavalo das Alegrias (1979)
zecalouro was wondering why Marku Ribas was running to kick a ball at the beach on this cover. Actually, this is not a ball, it is just a round label that was placed by someone on this right place. Now zecalouro is wondering where Marku Ribas is going on such a rush or dancing.
Anyway, it does not matter, since we have Marku Ribas - Cavalo das Alegrias (1979). Cavalo da Alegrias has the participation of Erasmo Carlos and orchestral arrangements by Antonio Adolfo.

Joyce - Encontro Marcado (1969)
The first Joyce recording as a singer was in 1964, as member of Conjunto Sambacana, since then, Joyce has recorded 21 solo discs. The first Joyce LP from 1968 self titled from Philips is already available at Loronix. The second and the last for this label, Joyce - Encontro Marcado (1969) was produced by Nelson Motta with arrangements by Luiz Eça.
Luiz Eça made orchestrated arrangements to this LP. If you are familiared with the later smooth and easy to listen Joyce recordings it will be a surprise to hear to this one, Joyce was still fine-tuning his singing and interpretation skills. Tracks include:
01 - Adam, Adam (D.P.)
02 - Encontro Marcado (Joyce)
03 - Bom Dia (Gilberto Gil - Nana Caymmi)
04 - Copacabana Velha de Guerra (Sergio Flaksman - Joyce)
05 - Como vai, vai bem? (Nelson Ângelo)

zecalouro invites you to see how Elis Regina manages a real challenge: sing together with Pele, the best soccer player everm on this 1969 EP, Tabelinha Elis Regina e Pele.

Trio Irakitan - Os Sambas que Gostamos de Cantar (1957)
This is a special post to a Loronix friend that is a great fan of Trio Irakitan, a wonderful group of musicians that are still active and is part of every Brazilian at the age of 50. Besides their work with music, Trio Irakitan performed acting on several movies from the 50's. These films can be seen today in Brazil on cable TV, zecalouro is also a big fan of Brazilian movies from this decade and recommends.
Lana Bittencourt - Lana em MusicalScope (1958)
Lana Bittencourt is a Brazilian singer that started her career in 1954 and is still active and performing. Lana is known as "A Internacional" - The International - since she could easily sing in several languages. This is her 1958 LP, Lana em MusicalScope. Music Video: Joao Gilberto plays Um Abraço no Bonfa
Nothing can go wrong with Joao Gilberto playing Um Abraco no Bonfa (Joao Gilberto). Nice and good to be watched while you download Um Abraco no Bonfa and a zecalouro's special bonus video, really unique: Joao Gilberto gets mad with the audience, claims for silence and plays Eu Vim da Bahia (Gilberto Gil), a very young Joao Gilberto video clip that you should not miss, here.
Hope uEnjoy!

Raul de Barros e Brazilian Serenaders - Na Mini Onda
Raul de Barros LPs are not allowed played out loud here. Why? Simple: zecalouro - the parrot - is getting addicted to Raul and is starting a bad behaviour.
zecaloura - my wife - left this afternoon and we put Raul de Barros - Hoje tem Baile com Raul de Barros to play. The parrot got nuts with the record and learns to sing and dance the song Na Gloria, yelling out very loud getting the attention of my neighbors.
He only put an end to the dancing and yelling when I sprayed him. Look at his face. Looks like a punk
We cannot listen to Raul de Barros, but we can share his LPs at Loronix, and here we go again with Raul de Barros - Brazilian Serenaders - Na Mini Onda (uncertain date), a LP full of standards with Raul's trombone and Brazilian Serenaders orchestra.
Take a look at the tracklist:
01 - Sunny
02 - Garota de Ipanema
03 - Black is Black
04 - Tema de Lara / Winchester Cathedral
05 - Favela
06 - Inútil Paisagem / Apêlo
07 - Preciso Aprender a Ser Só
08 - The More I See You / Um Homem uma Mulher
09 - Strangers in the Night
10 - Canto de Ossanha
11 - Corcovado
12 - Day Tripper
13 - Tempo Feliz
14 - Meditação

Chico Anysio & Arnaud Rodrigues - Azambuja & Cia. (1975)
Hello, this is a multi purpose and very rare LP, Azambuja & Cia. (1975). The dudes behind the Azambuja character are Chico Anysio and Arnaud Rodrigues, successful TV comedians from the 70's and 80's. A collector item from DJs around the world that uses to classify this album as a "funky, groovy, boogie, soul LP".
Excellent musicians were on the set, take a look: Jose Roberto Bertrami (Azymuth), Victor Assis Brasil (sax), Durval Ferreira, Celso Woltzen and Mauricio Heinhorn. The arrangements are from Bertrami and Jose Meneses.
zecalouro's friends that do not speak Portuguese, can skip the "Monologo" tracks since there are no songs, but only jokes in Portuguese. The remaining tracks are great and worthy the listening.
