Turma da Gafieira - Turma da Gafieira (1957)

This a record of a band already released at Loronix and it was one of the greatest posts ever, really successful, responsible for bringing many new friends with word of mount recommendations and links on several websites. The day was August 30th and I'm placing the cover artwork of that release for those who did not have the chance to see. Just click on it to reach that post. I could never imagine six months ago that I would be releasing another Turma da Gafieira LP. This is only possible with the help of Caetano Rodrigues.

Before presenting this LP, I would like to say that we need to hear this record with something in mind: the year is 1957, some years before the formal Bossa Nova birth and the music available at this LP is really complex, rich and sophisticated as an announcement of the years to come. I was speaking with Caetano Rodrigues about this and we have been wondering what were the influences that forged such great LP. The answer is complex. I think it is a unique mix of several elements that could only happen in Brazil, melting Samba, Jazz, Choro, Afro, among others.

This is Turma da Gafieira - Turma da Gafieira (1957), for Musidisc, the debut LP of Turma da Gafieira. Self-explanatory, 8 tracks of the 10-inch format that you should enjoy a lot. Personnel listing has several renowned musicians, such as Alamiro Carrilho, Sivuca, Edison Machado, Raul de Souza and others. Tracks include:
