This is Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Bethania & Toquinho - Vinicius + Bethania + Toquinho En La Fusa (1971), for Trova (Argentina). Really amazing. If you were plenty with the Maria Creuza La Fusa, now it is time to check how Maria Bethania makes it in La Fusa with Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho. I think the "Grabado en Buenos Aires" at the cover artwork is wrong, every single website I could research says that this album was recorded live in La Fusa nightclub, Mar del Plata at 25 and 26, February, 1971. You should take it for a hearing. Their performance is great. Tracks include:

Enrique "Zurdo" Roizner
(drums)
Cacho Gomez
(percussion)

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteOops!
Now working.

;)
for me the record is simply the best brazilian musical production I ever listen to... I never liked so much Bethânia's voice (E de manha...), Toquinho give me thrills here and Vinicius voice and text are self explanatory, amazing, the bass and drum complementing as the whole sounding like a familly, simply as you'll allways wish a concert should be... Soul, intimity and complicity, quality of sound and nuances...
ReplyDeleteAnd you certainly know here's a second album (Hello Zeca ;¬), with the same staff but with Maria Creusa singing like a godess (Tomara, Samba em preludio, Catendé...).
I really think those LPs are historical and summarize the whole tendencies of Brazilian music for this period.
The first La Fusa was opened in Punta del Este, 1968. Few months later opened La Fusa in Buenos Aires in Santa Fe Street. This album was recorded there.
ReplyDeleteThere was also La Fusa in Mar del Plata. None of these clubs exist today.

Hi guys! Thanks for this great LP!!
ReplyDeleteYes, La Fusa was the name of the Argentinian nightclub... but the word has also an italian meaning like Zecalouro thought... it means "The blockhead"... you can say it to a woman completely out of her mind... "Sei fusa?" "Are you out of your mind?"... it is a colloquial expression, you will not find it in any dictionary
Si! El reictal fue en Mar del Plata, que es una ciudad costera que pertenece a la provincia de Buenos Aires. Son años de dictadura, y si mal no recuerdo el bajista del grupo fue uno de los desaperecidos por los militares en esos años de terror.
ReplyDeletesaludos ZECA!

Man, the artcover isn't wrong, La Fusa is a nightclub situated in Buenos Aires, got it?
