Jamelao - Aqui Mora o Ritmo (1962) arrang. by Nelsinho, Astor and Guio de Morais

Hello, Good Evening! I want to start this Monday with a Samba LP supposed to be released last Saturday. It is really worthy to make it today, it is an incredible album and everybody should give it a try. I also urge Loronixers to start using our new post rating system, which is available at the end of each post as a sequence of five little stars. You will not be directed to another page, just click the stars and your evaluation will be recorded.

This is Jamelao - Aqui Mora o Ritmo (1962) arrangements by Maestro Nelsinho, Astor Silva and Guio de Morais, for Continental, this is the second release by Jamelao, the legendary Samba interpreter of Mangueira Samba School, Rio de Janeiro. Jamelao has a very long career, starting in the late 40's lasting until today. Aqui Mora o Ritmo repertoire is based on songs pretty unknown to Loronixers and the arrangements delivered by the might trio of maestros really makes the difference. Tracks include:

01 - O Tango do Fim (Osório Lima / José Bispo ''Jamelão'')
02 - Fofoca no Morro (Osvaldo Vitalino / Ferreira dos Santos)
03 - Flores Estrelas e Mulheres (Antônio Bruno)
04 - Triste Recordação (Alcebíades Nogueira / José Bispo ''Jamelão'')
05 - Acaba Como Eu (Armando Nunes / Jorge Medeiros)
06 - Quem Sou Eu (Guio de Morais)
07 - Tanto Ciúme (José Bispo ''Jamelão'' / Aledio Américo dos Santos)
08 - Como Vai Você (José Bispo ''Jamelão'' / Erasmo Silva)
09 - Nossa Quimera (Lucas Vieira / Domicio Augusto)
10 - Vá Conhecer Niterói (Hélio Nascimento / Aledio Américo dos Santos)
11 - Chega de Amor (Del Loro / Ferreira dos Santos)
12 - Um Minuto de Silêncio (Osvaldo Vitalino / Ferreira dos Santos)

I would like to recommend a website to Loronixers in the mood for Samba and Brazilian sounds of the 70's in general, J Thyme...kind, owned and maintained by Justin Thyme, friend of Loronix since the very beginning. Justin lives in the US and has a real passion for the music from Brazil. Take a special attention to Justin compilations; they are available on posts with this bunch of covers picture above. Justin recommends one of them, St. Julian Samba Showdown, here, ideal for those who want to get along with Brazilian music from the 70's at a glance. Congrats for your wonderful investigation job, Justin.
