Marcos Valle - Braziliance | A Musica de Marcos Valle (1967)

This is another of those that I cannot explain why it was not shown to Loronixers earlier. Perhaps the reason is the popularity; I think it is the better-known Marcos Valle album outside of Brazil, anyway, better late than never. I'm making two different covers this time, the Brazilian Odeon issue and the US version issued by Warner Brothers. I could not decide which one to pick. I hope that Marcos Valle brings a great start of another week to everybody.

This is Marcos Valle - Braziliance | A Musica de Marcos Valle (1967), for Odeon. First of all, Marcos Valle does not sings on Braziliance, which is a 12 track instrumental LP, all compositions are by Marcos Valle and arrangements are in charge of Eumir Deodato. I think this is one of those few self-explanatory releases that you should not miss. Tracks include:

01 - Os Grilos (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
02 - Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
03 - Batucada Surgiu (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
04 - Seu Encanto (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle / Pingarilho)
05 - Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
06 - Vamos Pranchar (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
07 - Tanto Andei (Marcos Valle)
08 - Dorme Profundo (Marcos Valle / Pingarilho)
09 - Deus Brasileiro (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
10 - Patricinha (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
11 - Passa Por Mim (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
12 - Se Você Soubesse (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)

  2. Thanks for posting this. I think this is the only Marcos album I don't have. Actually, I think it shows an easy-listening side to his music that was probably aimed at the U.S. audience. In Brasil, he would release his masterpiece Viola Enluarada the next year, and the two albums couldn't be more different. But it's interesting to hear songs like Vamos Pranchar, Patricinha and Se Você Soubesse, which I don't think he recorded on any other discs.
Tura, the 1983 album was rereleased just last year on Som Livre Masters. I think Vontade de Rever Você is also still available. But you're not missing much -- they're not great albums.

  3. Thanks for this one! I did not have it. Interesting to hear some of these compositions arranged differently. And no vocals, which is a change.

  5. Outstanding album. I rate Valle right next after Jobim as a bossanova composer, when thinking of his influence over the music world. The first Valle-record i heard was Samba '68. Still love it - including the sweet, funny pronounciations ("..they say it's too late for making PLANES..")In his marvellous song E Preciso Cantar (It's time to sing).

  6. Zeeeeca!!!
