If you visit Loronix first page from this post until the end of first page you will have a very nice panorama of the high quality Brazilian music with Victor Assis Brasil, Lucio Alves, Toquinho, Sergio Mendes, Jongo Trio, Luiz Bonfa, Roberto Menescal and many others. I'm really happy with the last days. We have a set of albums at this first page that are truly great. In the other hand, if you exercise list the ones that are not represented at this first page you will come to a wonderful conclusion: Brazilian music is really awesome, I have no doubts on it.
This is Wanda Sa - Softly! (1966), for Capital (USA). I think Wanda Sa is the missing piece on this first page and overall Loronix records. Wanda performed with Sergio Mendes, Roberto Menescal, Bossa Tres (who has this album with Wanda Sa and Bossa Tres) and this is the perfect moment to show a Wanda Sa solo album. Thanks a million Caetano for this record. Tracks include:
01 - Hô-bá-lá-lá (João Gilberto)
02 - Sweet Happy Lifre (Samba de Orfeu) (Luis Bonfá / Antônio Maria)
03 - Quiet Nights (Corcovado) (Tom Jobim)
04 - Aruanda (Carlos Lyra / Geraldo Vandré)
05 - The Dreamer
06 - Só Danço Samba (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 - Once I Loved
08 - Who Knows
09 - Tem Dó (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - With Feeling
11 - Água de Beber (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)

Susannah McCorkle - Sabia (1990)
Here we go on another Bossa Nova international release provided by Caetano Rodrigues. I don't need to say that Caetano has been taking awesome albums to Loronixers, but this time he is making something very special and unique. Susanna McCorkle is really special, she was an interpreter before embracing a singing career, being fluent on several languages, such as: Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese in addition to English, her mother language.
This is Susannah McCorkle - Sabia (1990), for Concord Jazz, featuring ten Brazilian songs plus Estate, switching between Portuguese, English and Italian. It is amazing how she makes so good on such different languages. You will have a very pleasant album, beautiful and sad, Susannah McCorkle kept hidden a chronic depression during years and career problems lead her to commit suicide in 2001, New York City. Tracks include:
01 - Tristeza (Sadness, Please Go Away)
02 - Estate (Summer)
03 - Vivo Sonhando (Living on Dreams)
04 - Dilema (Dilemma)
05 - Sabia (Songbird)
06 - So Many Stars
07 - So Danco Samba (I Only Dance the Samba)
08 - Manha de Carnaval (Sunrise)
09 - Pra Machucar meu Coracao (The Day we Said Goodbye)
10 - Travessia (Bridges)
11 - A Felicidade (Happiness)

Luiz Loy Quinteto - Chico Buarque de Hollanda Instrumental (1967)
This is really amazing, another great instrumental tribute to Chico Buarque de Hollanda. The first, also sponsored by Caetano, is an Aecio Flavio orchestra LP. Now we go again on Chico Buarque instrumental with a Samba Jazz Quintet, not a given combo, a group lead by an artist that was never released at Loronix before. Let's see this next Caetano's surprise.
This is Luiz Loy Quinteto - Chico Buarque Instrumental (1967), for RGE, also known as Luiz Loy Quinteto Interpreta Chico Buarque de Hollanda. It is the kind of record that drives me crazy when talking with Caetano, as follows:
(Caetano) - zeca, do you have Luiz Loy Quinteto - Chico Buarque Instrumental?
(zeca) - Noooooooooo. (big eyes)
(Caetano) (surprised) - Why you don't have this record?
(zeca) (nervous) - Caetano, I don't have and probably you are the only privileged human being in the world who has it.
Then Caetano makes 2 seconds of a deep silent and life goes on as usual. Caetano is really great. Chico Buarque Instrumental features Luiz Loy (piano), Bandeira (bass), Zinho (drums), the legendary Papudinho (piston) and Mazzola (sax tenor). Tracks include:
01 - Quem Te Viu Quem Te Vê (Chico Buarque)
02 - Noite dos Mascarados (Chico Buarque)
03 - Será Que Cristina Volta (Chico Buarque)
04 - Olê Olá (Chico Buarque)
05 - Você Não Ouviu (Chico Buarque)
06 - Madalena Foi Pro Mar (Chico Buarque)
07 - A Banda (Chico Buarque)
08 - A Rita (Chico Buarque)
09 - Amanhã Ninguém Sabe (Chico Buarque)
10 - Sonho de Um Carnaval (Chico Buarque)
11 - Meu Refrão (Chico Buarque)

Carlos Monteiro de Souza e Seu Conjunto - Pra Frente (1968)
Hello! Good Night. I'm happy with the idea of showing Loronixers how easy is to make comments. The best ideas are those that come out of the blue. I think that less the 10% of Loronixers could watch the video already, and so far we have comments from friends that never had the chance to write before. Thanks for supporting the ideas of this crazy parrot.
Let's start the day with an album that has been here for a long time and I could only remember with the help of Quimsy, the mighty owner and maintainer of Quimsy at http://quimsy.blogspot.com.
This is Carlos Monteiro de Souza e Seu Conjunto - Pra Frente (1968), for Parlophone, featuring Maestro Carlos Monteiro de Souza with no orchestra this time, but accompanied by a combo. Little is know about this LP from the nice Parlophone label with their easy to identify albums with the big P on cover. Caetano will be pleased with this post, although the chance of this record been missed from his great collection is less than 0,5%. Tracks include:
01 - Estamos Aí (Maurício Einhorn / Durval Ferreira / Regina Werneck)
02 - O Cantador (Dori Caymmi / Nelson Motta)
03 - Carolina (Chico Buarque)
04 - Samba do Avião (Tom Jobim)
05 - Roda (Gilberto Gil / João Augusto)
06 - Linhas Cruzadas (Roberto Menescal)
07 - Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
08 - Tim Dom Dom (João Mello / Codó)
09 - Manhã de Primavera (Adilson Godoy)
10 - Travessia (Milton Nascimento / Fernando Brant)
11 - Mancada (Gilberto Gil)
12 - Sambou Sambou (João Mello / João Donato)

Special Post | How to make comments, a quick guide on video
Hello! Good night. Let's start today with something different, updating our knowledge on making comments, a core element of our community. Comments are extremely necessary for us; they make Loronix more dynamic and updated, giving also feedback to zecalouro. It is the best way to understand if we are making things according with your expectations.
Comments are very simple; you don't need to be a registered user to make them. That's why a video was prepared, such like the previous one made to introduce Caetano's book to Loronixers.
Take a time to watch the video and click at the increase lens to see a bigger version, much easier to understand the steps.
Thanks in advance for watching the video and get yourself ready for comments. Let's use this post for training purposes, feel free to write whatever you like, it is our testing area.
Thanks once again,
Zeca

Os Saxsambistas Brasileiros - Saxsambando (1960)
Caetano is great, he sent to us another LP from Os SaxSambistas Brasileiros. We are now close to complete all Os SaxSambistas releases for Plaza, which is as far as I know the only label that made their recordings. However, there is something very disturbing. We know that we are close to finish Os SaxSambistas discographies comparing with we found at the Internet. The question is: in spite of the records already identified, is there a chance of additional albums not listed?
The only answer to this question should come from Loronix community, that's why tomorrow I will be releasing an "educational video" showing how to make comments with no mysteries and complications, pretty easy to make every Loronixer fluent on placing comments on our posts. I'm counting on you. It will be easy, just watch the video and learn the steps, by the way, very easy steps. Stay tuned tomorrow.
This is Os Saxsambistas Brasileiros - Saxsambando (1960), for Plaza, produced by Henrique Gandelman and featuring top-notch musicians, as we are used to check on every Os Saxsambistas LP. Personnel listing explains everything about this release. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Teleco-teco Nº 2 (Nelsinho / Oldemar Magalhães)
02 - Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)

Victor Assis Brasil - Desenhos (1966)
Victor Assis Brasil is the best Brazilian jazzman ever, praised internationally by renowned Jazz musicians such like John Coltrane, Phil Woods and many others. Victor has passed very early, with the age of 36, when he was at his peak. Caetano Rodrigues provided this record to Loronixers, which is Victor Assis Brasil debut LP and it is necessary to say it is an unique opportunity, this is a very hard to find album and this music was taken from the master tapes and is provided to us loose less, better than any other vinyl conversions take from other media. Thanks once again Caetano for providing a anthological record in such good quality.
This is Victor Assis Brasil - Desenhos (1966), for Forma, featuring the sax of Victor with the accompaniment of Tenório Júnior (piano), Edson Lobo, with the age of 19 (bass) and Chico Batera (drums). Victor had 19 years old at this recording session. Tracks include:

Music Video | Lucio Alves - A Vizinha do Lado (1960)
Yesterday, I found this nice video at Balaio do Carl Ole, an impossible to miss and frequently updated friend of Loronix. Looking inside, I found also production credits to adesign, which is an affiliate company of bossa-brasileira.blogspot.com. Let's ask the folks of adesign and bossa-brasileira to show us more gems like this one.
This is Lucio Alves - A Vizinha do Lado (1960), an excerpt of a film produced by JB Tanko, the legendary producer from one of the most successful ages of Brazilian movie film. We have a delicious two minutes video with Lucio Alves and some shots dedicated to the great comedian Ze Trindade.
I sent earlier today this film to Caetano Rodrigues, Mecenas and Cravinho, Jorge Cravo. People were also talking about the wonderful book written by Cravinho, O Cacador de Bolachas Perdidas, which I'm placing a purchase link bellow to Submarino. Don't miss Cravinho's book, it is delicious, a lifetime book that you will ready as fresh over and over again.
Hope uEnjoy!

Toquinho - Toquinho Tocando (1977)
The big butterfly stills watching me. She did not make a single move in the last four hours. I'm waiting for her next move, if there will be a move, anyway. People who monitor CBox, also known as "Quadradinho", will remember the Loronixers Stuart, asking several times for this record, while some other friends, such like Adrian from Argentina were also urging it. Caetano had this LP on his short list to be included on the next package, but the situation is ideal to make it today.
Everybody should thank the legendary Marcelo Munhoz for this post and also the big butterfly. Marcelo just sent this record in the afternoon and as I'm not moving to pick up others albums in the house, Marcello's contribution is handy at this time. By the way, Marcelo Munhoz is a musician and member of Sambasonics, a well-known Brazilian Samba Rock band. Marcelo / Sambasonic CD was released in Japan and is available at the Amazon link that closes this post.
This is Toquinho - Toquinho Tocando (1977), for Philips, featuring Toquinho playing instrumental music, such like his debut album for RGE. If you know Toquinho only by his collaborations with Vinicius de Moraes, it is time to get in touch with Toquinho as an acoustic guitar virtuoso surrounded by renowned musicians, such as: Dino Sete Cordas, Paulo Moura, Azeitona, Jorginho, among others. Tracks include.
01 - Caro Raul (Toquinho)
02 - O Bem-amado (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Regra Três (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Implorando (Toquinho)
05 - Suíte Argentina (Toquinho)
06 - Samba do Ausente (Toquinho / Tenório Júnior)

L.A. Transit - DeNovo (1986)
Here we go again on another international release provided by Caetano Rodrigues. Actually, I think this is not exactly International, let's say it is a mix of Brazilian and International musicians assembled as a group to release this album, by the way, very hard to track information at the internet. My searches always felt on Los Angeles Transit department. It does not matter much, the little I known about it is enough to urge Loronixers to go jump on it.
This is L.A. Transit - DeNovo (1986), for Interface (Japan). Taking a DJ vocabulary, I would say this is a nice lounge jazz elevator music vibe and groove music. I think is much more, it is such a party of renowned musicians, such as Oscar Castro Neves, Jose Marinho, Tom Scott, Gracinda Leporace, Paulinho da Costa, Alex Acunha and others, making a record for fun accompanied by a trio of female voices that really makes the difference. Check personnel and do not miss this one. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Mas que Nada
02 - Wave
03 - Zazueira
04 - How Insensitive
05 - Muito Mais
06 - Agua de Beber
07 - Pretty World
08 - Anything can Happen
09 - Summer Without You
10 - Tristeza

Cinco Estrelas - Interpretam a Bossa Nova (1963)
Taking the advantage of the enormous success and feedback given to Caetano's last RGE compilation O Melhor da Bossa, I will pick another one sent by the same and tireless Caetano Rodrigues. Now we go with ten Bossa Nova interpretations by 5 Brazilian female singers. Let's see.
This is Cinco Estrelas Interpretam a Bossa Nova (1963), for Copacabana, featuring Elizeth Cardoso, Marisa, Carminha Mascarenhas, Morgana and Lucienne Franco. Perhaps I'm wrong, Copacabana label did not release much records like this, since this is the first Copacabana compilation I have seen so far. Anyway, really a nice treat to hear the ladies singing Bossa Nova and also hear for the first time the voice of Carminha Mascarenhas, never released before at Loronix. I don't need to say that this is a really hard to find album provided by Caetano Rodrigues. Tracks include:
01 - Menino Travesso (Moacir Santos / Vinicius de Moraes) - ELIZETH CARDOSO
02 - Chora Tua Tristeza (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini) - MARISA
03 - Ciúme Teu Ma (Walter / Joluz) - CARMINHA MASCARENHAS
04 - A Flor (Vera Brasil / De Rosa) - MORGANA
05 - Da Rosa Que Nasceu Nosso Amor (Baden Powell / Heloísa Setta) - LUCIENNE FRANCO
06 - Céu e Mar (Johnny Alf) - MARISA GATA MANSA
07 - Imenso Amor (Luis Bonfá / Maria Helena Toledo) - LUCIENNE FRANCO
08 - Cravo Vermelho (Pernambuco / Sergio Malta) - MORGANA
09 - Nós e o Mar (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli) - CARMINHA MASCARENHAS
10 - Seu Olhar (Laís Antunes) - ELIZETH CARDOSO

Aldo Taranto e Sua Orquestra - Sonhos, Amor e Violinos (1959)
Hello, Good Night! Last night was weird, today was really strange and now I'm here paralyzed with a butterfly on the wall of my desk with the size of a CD. It is scaring and I can't move. My last idea was to use the flash of my camera to convince her to fly away and she did not move. I'm wondering, if I stand up, she will fly towards my face. It happens every time. My next idea will be throwing an object at the light switch to put lights out and escape. I don't want to kill her and I can work on another room. This is a neighbor-wide problem; several friends on street were talking about this fly invasion since yesterday. Let's see.
I'm keeping an eye on her while trying to write about this record, which is the first record released by CID in Brazil in 1959 with this really modern cover artwork, ahead of the time.
This is Aldo Taranto e Sua Orquestra - Sonhos, Amor e Violinos (1959), for CID as CID 27001, representing the first CID LP in Brazil. I never heard of Aldo Taranto before and probably he did not make any further release for CID, but this is a nice orchestra LP with violins and a gentle played acoustic guitar. The cover alone worth the overall enterprise. Tracks include:
01 - Por Causa de Você (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
02 - A Volto do Boêmio (Adelino Moreira)
03 - Abandono Cruel (Luis Soberano / Anicio Bichara)
04 - Vitrine (Adelino Moreira)
05 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - Prece de Amor (René Bittencourt)
07 - Abismo (Anísio Silva)
08 - Sonhando Contigo (Anísio Silva / Fausto Guimarães)
09 - Conceição (Dunga / Jair Amorim)
10 - Ouça (Maysa)
11 - Graças a Deus (Fernando César)
12 - Tudo Foi Ilusão (Laerte Santos / Arcilino Tavares)

Challenge | The Answer
Luiz Eca e Radames Gnattali - Os 6 Mais numa Imagem Barroca (1968)
Hello, Good Night! I had a full day of working, this time, dedicated 100% to Loronix. zecalouro has the energy and runs through ideas. Gimme a nice idea and you will make my day and also get a happy friend. Good ideas works like a jet propulsion turbine for me, I cannot stop until reaching a level of comfort that the idea is viable and the resources to make it working are available. Stay tuned; the forthcoming days will bring exciting news to our community.
Let's go straight to a great Caetano Rodrigues release. Actually, if you look bellow, you will see an awesome Samba Jazz record provided by Caetano that nobody has already share thoughts about it, with the exception of g picanco and myself. Gentleman, comments are an essential piece. If nobody places comments we cannot evaluate if we are on the right or wrong track. Comments are open to everybody and available to address any doubt or difficulty on it.
This is Luiz Eca e Radames Gnattali - Os 6 Mais numa Imagem Barroca (1968), for CBS, probably another Luizinho Eca LP unknown for many friends. This record is really inquisitive, on a first sight I tought it was recorded live in Minas Gerais, just taking in consideration the cover reproduction. However, we have a studio album here, with Luiz Eca and Radames Gnattali playing cravo on top of a popular repertoire by Chico Buarque, Jonny Alf, Dori Caymmi, Sidney Miller and Milton Nascimento. This record was kindly sent by ClaudiaB from Cantos e Encantos and has Helcio Milito in charge of production. Tracks include:
01 - Carolina (Chico Buarque)
02 - Eu e a Brisa (Johnny Alf)
03 - Morena dos Olhos D'água (Chico Buarque)
04 - Realejo (Chico Buarque)
05 - Travessia (Milton Nascimento / Fernando Brant)
06 - Oferenda (Luis Eça / Lenita Eça)
07 - O Circo (Sidney Miller)
08 - Com Açúcar Com Afeto (Chico Buarque)
09 - O Cantador (Dori Caymmi / Nelson Motta)
10 - Imagem (Luis Eça / Aloysio de Oliveira)
11 - Lua Cheia (Chico Buarque / Toquinho)
12 - A Praça (Sidney Miller)

Grupo Medusa - Ferrovias (1983)
I will address several facts with this post, first, this is a mandatory instrumental music record from the 80's, second, Amilson Godoy can now show his piano playing by a video available bellow and the last and most important one, the legendary Brazilian percussionist Theo da Cuica is a member of Grupo Medusa. I will tell later on who is Theo da Cuica.
This is Grupo Medusa - Ferrovias (1983), for Som da Gente, the second and last LP from this legendary instrumental group. The first LP is already available at Loronix and this one was kindly sent by Theo da Cuica, the percussionist at this album. Among the several musicians we have at Loronix, Theo is with us since the beginning, he is an active musician and performed with every Brazilian artist, listed on more than 1,000 (one thousand) records as musician.
Theo has launched a new CD, and wants to make it available to Loronixers in the forthcoming weeks. I'm very proud to be of help of a great musician like Theo. Thanks brother, I will catch you up this week to talk about this. By the way, the guy pictured is Theo da Cuica. Tracks include:

There is a story behind this post. First, it is a really awaited post, especially for the friends who visits and share ideas with CBox. Second, I need to give credits for two contributors, Caetano Rodrigues, which is the friend who sent this perfect copy to Loronixers, second, Cesar Saldanha, who sent first, but I did not make it since this record was on Caetano list of future contributions. Thanks Cesar. Thanks Caetano.

Music Video | Cesar Camargo Mariano & Zimbo Trio
Luiz Harding, the tireless Loronix friend provides another video, Cesar Camargo Mariano with Zimbo Trio. Luiz Harding says this video brings an encounter that celebrates the end of some issues between Cesar Camargo Mariano Trio, Som Tres and Zimbo Trio.
Thanks a lot Luiz, your effort on transforming your collection to Loronixers is of real value to us and to the Music from Brazil as a whole, your work makes such wonderful moments eternal, otherwise they would fall only on memories of a few privileged friends.
Hope uEnjoy!
PS.: Luiz, let's give a chance to Godoy next time! :-)

Solar Trio - Solar Trio
Hello, Good Night! I decided today to make something that I like most, sleep. Yes, who does not like to sleep is not telling the truth, sleeping is great, but it is like a dope, the more you sleep the more you want to sleep. Actually, I use to sleep less than 5 hours daily; it is part of my nature. Physicians says that does not matter how long do you sleep, but the quality of your sleeping; it is better sleep 4 hours like a bear than 12 like a bird.
Anyway, before you fall asleep, let's start this Sunday night with another awesome Caetano Rodrigues contribution. Caetano brings this time a Brazilian instrumental trio that I never heard before, unknown and solid, a very nice record that alone worth all this night here.
This is Solar Trio - Solar Trio (no date), for independent production. Above the average instrumental piano, bass, drums music by Solar Trio. I could not make successful searches on gathering information about this album. However, I could find another record by Solar Trio and personnel was included, as follows: Bebeto (piano), Jaime Pladevall (drums) and Ze Alexandre (bass). Looking the back cover, I could find a telephone number; it belongs to Campinas, a city at Sao Paulo state. If anyone knows more about Solar Trio, please write us. Tracks include:
01 - Bonita
02 - Muito
03 - Bye Bye Brasil
04 - Manha de Carnaval
05 - Tristeza de Nos Dois
06 - Notas Bach
07 - Chora Coracao
08 - Antigo Nada
09 - Lisa
10 - Trilhos Urbanos
11 - Canto Triste
12 - Imagem
13 - Outra Vez

Roberto Menescal e Seu Conjunto - Bossa Nova (1964)
One of the benefits of Find It, Loronix application to find posts and records, is the increase of the recommendations sent by Loronixers, especially of essential records that were not made available. I will show now one of these Bossa Nova essential records. The first to mention the need to show this record was bossanovadreamer, followed by Caetano in a matter of days. I do not have this LP and I had the offer from bossanovadreamer and Caetano, deciding by Caetano. This album is really mandatory, as each one released by Roberto Menescal with his Conjunto.
This is Roberto Menescal e Seu Conjunto - Bossa Nova (1964), for Imperial. It is amazing that little is known about this album. The best resource I found is Discos do Brasil of Maria Luiza Kfouri with a detailed listing of musicians for each track. Discos do Brasil also says that Ruy Castro's book Chega de Saudade establishes the recording date as 1962, although 1964 is the date on the record label. Anyway, I will take Discos do Brasil info to build personnel listing and let also a video with Loronixers featuring Roberto Menescal and Wanda Sa, sent by, who guess? Luiz Harding. Tracks include:
Track List
01 - Garota de Ipanema
02 - Corcovado
03 - So Danco Samba
04 - Quem Quiser Encontrar o Amor
05 - Menina Feia
06 - Influencia do Jazz

09 - Me Lembro Vagamente
10 - Nos e o Mar
11 - Andorinha Preta
12 - Fale do Samba que eu Vou
