Refer, one of the powerful Loronix friends, sent me an email a couple of weeks ago with a very useful clarification about Samba Rock. "Samba Rock is not a musical genre, it is only a way of dancing any kind of music with swing (Balanco). period.
On top of this, Refer gave me a very useful link for anyone who might be interested on understanding a little bit more about Samba Rock, the website of Clube do Balanco at http://clubedobalanco.uol.com.br. There is an English version that you should try. Take a look at the video section and watch a Samba Rock documentary and a nice dancing tutorial.
This is the only record released by one of the Brazilian Samba Rock legends, Noriel Vilela - Eis o Ome (1968). Noriel was member of the Samba vocal group Cantores de Ebano. After releasing this record, Noriel has passed, for reasons that zecalouro could not check. This is a cool LP that zecalouro bets that any Loronixer will have a guaranteed entertainment. Special Post: Tuca
Sometimes zecalouro receives email from relatives of the artists that are here at Loronix, specially the forgotten ones. All these messages are great, sometimes zecalouro even receives messages with statements like: "congratulations for recover the memory of my father to the world" or "He is really happy to hear this LP again, which was considered lost..." etc.
But this one was different, since zecalouro has authorization to make available the entire content. This message was from Tuca's nephew, which is a Loronix friend that zecalouro would like to thanks a lot for sharing his personal thoughts about his relative with all the Loronix community.
zealouro will not translate his writing to English, if any Loronix friend with better translating capabilities can do it for us, I will appreciate a lot. Let's hear what he says:

Dei uma olhada no Loronix e seus comentários sobre minha tia Tuca.
Sim, ela é a falecida irmã (apenas por parte de pai) de minha mãe Maria Helena Moraes da Silva (nome de solteira), hoje com 69 anos.
Tuca cujo nome completo e correto é Valeniza Zagni da Silva, filha da madastra de minha mãe, esta por sua vez a segunda esposa do meu avô Valentim Ignácio da Silva, médico e farmacêutico famoso no interior de São Paulo (famoso naquela época, naturalmente). Chegou uma vez a candidatar-se a vereador, mas seus votos foram roubados pelo famoso político profissional Ademar de Barros (roubo mas faço, lembra?).

Isso acabou por criar graves disturbios emocionais e psicológicos nela, o que a levou a fazer um regime super rigoroso e sem acompanhamento médico, que a levou a morte por inanição, conforme inclusive noticiado na época pelos jornais e revistas. Uma pena, pois ela era um ser humano muito bom e boa cantora.

Formed in 1963 by the siblings Jane Vicentino do Espírito Santo, Sidney do Espírito Santo, and Roberto do Espírito Santo, each having individually performed in several groups and orchestras until then, Os Três Morais (Morais being their mother's maiden name), influenced by the Swingle Singers, recorded "Sambachiana" (Ely Arcoverde) and gradually incorporated popular music into their previously semi-classical repertory. The trio participated in important bossa nova TV shows like the Bo-64 and O Fino da Bossa (TV Record) and recorded three LPs with that formation until 1970, when Jane married Herondy Bueno, leaving the trio to form with him the duo Jane e Herondy, having been replaced by Vera Lúcia (ex-Alpha Centauri). With the new formation, the group recorded an LP with classics like "As Pastorinhas" (João de Barro/Noel Rosa). In 1997, the trio performed with the original formation in the show Parabéns Música Popular Brasileira at the Baiúca club (São Paulo). While Jane participated in Chico Buarque's Chico Buarque de Hollanda interpreting "Com Açúcar, Com Afeto" (Buarque), later recording the song alone, Sidney, who had been a member of the Garotos Vocalistas (1948), Os Quatro Amigos (1950), and Conjunto Farroupilha (1958) had success with "Além" (with Edson Borges), which was recorded several times by different artists.

The first Evinha LP at Loronix is making a nice career at Loronix, being much more requested then others available at the same time. zecalouro is bringing back Evinha, now with an LP considered by many as her best release.

Dalva Barbosa - É Samba (1962)
zecalouro received this LP a couple of weeks ago from the same mysterious Loronixer who gave us the wonderful new copy of Simonetti e Orquestra. Since then, zecalouro has been looking at this beautiful cover and listening to music before finding an ideal slot for Dalva Barbosa.
That's the time to introduce this nice LP from a really forgoteen - at least to zecalouro research extent - Brazilian singer, Dalva Barbosa - É Samba (1962). The personnel is not credited and the LP has that extravagant orchestral arrangements from the late 50's, bringing a wonderful atmosphere to Dalva's singing. Zimbo Trio - Trocando em Miudos A Tristeza do Jeca (1983)
zecalouro is surprised with the excitement around the last Zimbo Trio LP with the US Jazzman Sonny Stitt. Many new Loronixers have been dragged by that LP and being here since then as very loyal friends. Thanks to Jazzseen friends.
I'm curious to see what happens now with Zimbo Trio - Trocando em Miudos A Tristeza do Jeca (1983). On this LP, Zimbo Trio performs nice Jazzy versions of very popular songs of the Brazilian regional music - Tristeza do Jeca - and nice others Brazilian classics such like: Trocando em Miudos (Chico Buarque de Hollanda / Francis Hime ), Egberto Gismonti's Loro (obviously, a zecalouro's favorite), Chovendo na Roseira and Aguas de Março (Antonio Carlos Jobim).

I'm curious to see what happens now with Zimbo Trio - Trocando em Miudos A Tristeza do Jeca (1983). On this LP, Zimbo Trio performs nice Jazzy versions of very popular songs of the Brazilian regional music - Tristeza do Jeca - and nice others Brazilian classics such like: Trocando em Miudos (Chico Buarque de Hollanda / Francis Hime ), Egberto Gismonti's Loro (obviously, a zecalouro's favorite), Chovendo na Roseira and Aguas de Março (Antonio Carlos Jobim).

Jorge Goulart - Primeira Audição (1958)
This post is really special for two reasons. It celebrates the 70th year anniversary of Radio Nacional do Rio de Janeiro, which is today, Tuesday, 12th September.
The second and main reason is to introduce to Loronixers Jorge Goulart, a great Brazilian singers that was a true hero on the golden ages of Radio Nacional.
Jorge Goulart came to zecalouro attention with an email message received from a great friend of Jorge Goulart asking for information. Since then, this friend and zecalouro exchanged several emails talking about Jorge, which is still active, with 80 years old. But what makes me feel really happy is that Jorge Goulart did not listen to this LP, Primeira Audição (1959) for years and zecalouro is now giving the chance to Jorge Goulart and all Loronixers around the world have this great experience.
Jorge Goulart, congratulations for the exceptional artist you are and for the great human example you give us with your will for life, happiness and determination to face all the challenges you have been through.

Having his name strongly connected to the history of Brazilian Carnival, Jorge Goulart had a highly successful career with many hits. He also participated in several films, of which the most important is Rio 40 Graus (Nelson Pereira dos Santos) -- in the film, he sang "A Voz do Morro," a 1955 classic by Zé Kéti. Among many other historical pieces, he launched the timeless number (played innumerable times in every Carnival ball) "Cabeleira do Zezé" (João Roberto Kelly/Roberto Faissal) in 1964. Other Carnival smashes were "Mundo de Zinco" (Wilson Batista/Nássara, 1952), "Joga a Chave, Meu Amor" (J.R. Kelly/J. Rui), "Mané Fogueteiro" (João de Barro), and "Couro de Gato" (Grande Otelo/Rubens Silva/Popó). Goulart also is important as a singer who made composers of the samba schools like Elton Medeiros ("Exaltação a São Paulo"), Zé Kéti (the fundamental "A Voz do Morro," 1955), Candeia, and Silas de Oliveira known for a wider audience. Goulart debuted in his professional career interpreting songs by Custódio Mesquita, to whom he had been introduced by his father. Performing regularly at the Eldorado dancing, he soon began to work also at the Rádio Tupi. His first 78 rpm was released in 1945 due to Mesquita's influence as a director at Victor. After being dismissed from the recording company because of three albums that didn't happen, he became friends with Ary Barroso, who gave him his "Xangô" (with Fernando Lobo), his first hit. In the next year, Goulart opened in the successful show Um Milhão de Mulheres that was performed for two years. After a stint in Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul), Goulart returned to Rio in 1949, recording "Miss Mangueira" (Wilson Batista/Antônio Almeida) for next year's Carnaval. His success with "Balzaqueana" (Wilson Batista/Nássara, 1951) yielded an invitation to join the prestigious Rádio Nacional, where he stayed for 15 years. Goulart was the first singer to interpret, in the nights of Rio, "Vingança," the big hit by Lupicínio Rodrigues that definitively established the composer, also provoking suicides. But as he was a Continental artist while Rodrigues had a contract of exclusiveness with RCA, the song was finally offered to Herivelto Martins. Among the many hits recorded by Goulart in the '50s, one of the most curious works was the samba "Exaltação a São Paulo" (Elton Medeiros), which had been presented in the Carnival of 1954. Evidencing new paths for Brazilian music, the samba was recorded for the program Um Milhão de Melodas by Goulart with the accompaniment of the orchestra of the Rádio Nacional (60 figures) and ten match boxes (an "instrument" typical of the informal samba meetings at bars and homes), everything written by Radamés Gnattali. Still in the '50s, Goulart toured the former U.S.S.R., China, and several European countries. He also launched the bossa nova march "Marcha da Quarta-Feira de Cinzas" (Carlos Lyra/Vinícius de Moraes) in February 1963.

Irmaos Coragem - Original Soundtrack (1970) TV Globo Soup Opera
This is something that zecalouro's mother will be very happy to see at Loronix next time she get together with her green bird. The Original Soundtrack of the TV Globo soup opera Irmaos Coragem (1970). A Loronix friend said that every TV Globo soup opera soundtrack deserves a careful listen. I can tell you, Irmaos Coragem is a really good OST, having something special on several aspects.
The production and arrangements are in charge of a "power trio", Waltel Branco, Luiz Eca and Dori Caymmi. The performers were the best available: Jair Rodrigues, Dori Caymmi, Denise Emmer, Maysa, Tim Maia, Maria Creuza, Luiz Eça and Joyce, making an unique version of Bachiana #5 of Heitor Villa Lobos, among others. Someone gave me a recommendation of Joao Roberto Kelly, Brazilian Samba composer and pianist. zecalouro cannot remember who made it, but here it is. Meet Joao Roberto Kelly with a nice 1980 self-titled LP. Joao Roberto Kelly has several classic carnaval songs, performed on every carnaval for decades. This LP shows Joao, his piano, orchestra and his compositions, a must for the fans of authentic Samba.

Baden Powell & Trio - The Frankfurt Opera Concert (1975)
Baden Powell is the best closing for this improvised instrumental day at Loronix. This is also a special post, since it was sent by the Loronixer d, which took his time to rip and pack this LP with nice results.
With the help of d, zecalouro proudly presents Baden Powell & Trio - The Frankfurt Opera Concert (1975). Baden Powell Trio is Baden Powell (playing a "Virtuoso" Guitar by luthier Dieter Hopf on this gig), Guy Pedersen (bass), Jorge Arena (drums) and Coaty de Oliveira (percussion).
The Master Tape was forgotten on archives for 17 years, being authorized by Baden Powell only in 1992 to be released. Tracks include:
