Antonio Carlos Jobim e Vinicius de Moraes - Brasilia | Sinfonia da Alvorada (1961)

Hello, good morning! This post demanded a lot of work and I'm convinced the effort really worth. Actually, this is the repost of an already released album at Loronix. I spoke with Caetano Rodrigues about this album and the way he came to my hand and he could not believe on everything I said. Caetano said he took ten years hunting this LP until he got it on a quite an expensive price.

He said also that is not easy to get it with the booklet made available here with the music and by the scrolling panorama bellow. The booklet features instructions on how to perform the Symphony, in Portuguese, English, French and a couple of other languages that I could not identify. Everything is upgraded, cover scans and music, including the FLAC format as an option. I'm making available my original writing with slight modifications. Let's see.

In 1958, Juscelino Kubitschek, president of Brazil, asked Vinicius de Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim to compose a symphonic suite to be used at the opening ceremony of a city that was being built in the middle of Brazil to be the new capital in April 21st, 1960.

Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes spent a time at the new city before the inauguration to get around the place and get inspiration needed to such important mission. In spite of the symphony was composed timely, for unknown reasons, it was not performed on the inauguration day.

This is Antonio Carlos Jobim e Vinicius de Moraes - Brasilia | Sinfonia da Alvorada (1961), recorded in November 1960, at studio. Tom is conducting the orchestra with the participation of Radames Gnattali (piano), Vinicius de Moraes (words, poetry), Elizeth Cardoso (voice) and Os Cariocas (voices).

Sinfonia da Alvorada had the first live performance only in 1966 at the TV station Excelsior in Sao Paulo. Take a time to check the scrolling panorama below to see how front and back cover created by Oscar Niemeyer matches on a single image and the booklet already mentioned. Tracks include:
