Os Novos Baianos - Caia na Estrada e Perigas Ver (1976)

Hello, good evening! Os Novos Baianos is an important a vocal and instrumental group formed in the late 1960's in Bahia that never had an album available at Loronix. I could not believe when I could not find a single album when browsing the archives today. These guys played a very important role on blending traditional Brazilian genres -- such as Samba, Choro, Frevo -- with rock and popular music. When I was trying to make a life as musician, Os Novos Baianos were a strong influence and I got surprised today when I took this album for a spin. Their music is still fresh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this album never had a chance of being reissued in CD and I'm sure it will take everybody by surprise. Let's see.

This is Os Novos Baianos - Caia na Estrada e Perigas Ver (1976), for Tapecar, featuring Baby Consuelo, Paulinho Boca de Cantor, Galvao and Pepeu Gomes, which is probably their first record without Moraes Moreira that left the group earlier. By the way, Os Novos Baianos were formed in the end of the 60's by Moraes Moreira, Baby Consuelo, Galvao and Paulinho Boca de Cantor. Pepeu Gomes is a latecomer; he was already a professional musician in 1969 and was invited to join Os Novos Baianos after his performance with Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso at Barra 69 Show. Anyway, I don't want to make you bored today with my writing. Take Os Novos Baianos for a hearing and have a nice weekend. Tracks include:

Dilermando Reis - Dilermando Reis Interpreta Pixinguinha (1972)

Hello, good evening! Google Analytics is an amazing piece of software. Analytics collects websites statistics, and delivers findings about your site and your site visitors. Since the launching of our last Loronix Find It version, I'm using Analytics to gather information on search terms used by Loronixers. The results are important to understand what friends are looking for at Loronix and so far they are amazing. A total of 3,825 searches were made so far and the second most popular search is Dilermando Reis. Let's see.

This is Dilermando Reis - Dilermando Reis Interpreta Pixinguinha (1972), for Continental, featuring Dilermando Reis violao performing instrumental solo renditions of Pixinguinha compositions. The searches were right. Dilermando Reis is a very important musician. He had an active recording career, releasing more than 45 LPs during decades of activity. Dilermando also made a strong contribution on the development of the Brazilian violao, on a time in which the quality of a popular repertoire for the instrument was quite small. Tracks include:

01 - Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / João de Barro)
02 - Lamentos (Pixinguinha / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Cheguei (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)
04 - Ingênuo (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)
05 - Cinco Companheiros (Pixinguinha)
06 - Vou Vivendo (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)
07 - Naquele Tempo (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)
08 - Chorei (Benedito Lacerda / Pixinguinha)
09 - Cochichando (Pixinguinha)
10 - Segura Ele (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)
11 - Urubatan (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)
12 - Proezas de Solon (Pixinguinha / Benedito Lacerda)

Tom Jobim e Billy Blanco - Serie Idolos da MPB 7 (1974)

Hello, good evening! I would like to give my sincere apologies for a non-planned hiatus during the whole weekend. We are in the final stages for launching of a new website. It is not necessary to say this website is about Brazilian music and especially about Brazilian musicians. It is an amazing project, which will pay back all the effort we are putting in these final days. Stay tuned.

Speaking about this album, don't let the appearances cheat you as I was. I always thought this record as a given reissue of the essential Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billy Blanco's Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro, released for the first time by Continental in 1954. In fact it is. Side A features a remastered version of the whole 1954 album. However, Continental delivers remastered cuts taken from 78rpms with very important recordings, and this is what makes this album a winner. Let's see.

This is Tom Jobim e Billy Blanco - Serie Idolos MPB 7 (1974), for Continental, featuring a constellation of Brazilian artists performing Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro on side A and really nice Continental 78rpm remasterings featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim music performed by Luiz Bonfa, Dick Farney, Lucio Alves, Nora Ney, Dora Lopes and Doris Monteiro. Antonio Carlos Jobim also performs in these tracks with his "Conjunto" and orchestra, as detailed on track list information below. Tracks include:
