Saraiva - Sucesso em Alta Tensao (1968)

Hello, good evening! Loronix (myself) and everybody who that use Velox SP were unable to reach Rapidshare.com domain. This is the reason why we did not have new music yesterday. The problem lasts 24 hours and it is very nice to make new music available at Loronix after such hiatus. The friends who use CBox, the popular Quadradinho, were of a great help on giving continuous status reports and this post is dedicated to CBox friends, featuring a requested artist on that little nice space. Let's see.

This is Saraiva - Sucesso em Alta Tensao (1968), for Copacabana, presented here with a later Copacabana subsidiary label SOM reissue. Saraiva delivers a blend of Samba, Choro and all sorts of style on several groovy tracks with lots of clarinet playing, accordion and even a Hammond B3 organ. Sucesso em Alta Tensao took me by surprise, it is the kind of album that saves your day in the morning. I think after this album, Saraiva will get new fans, enthusiastic fans like our great friend kinoterra. Tracks include:

01 - Saraivando Pelo Brasil (Luis dos Santos / Walter Sperandeo)
02 - Sem Você (Clóvis de Lima / Ubirajara)
03 - Sobre o Céu da Bahia (Luis dos Santos / J. Luna)
04 - Ana Sempre Te Amei (Luis dos Santos / J. Luna)
05 - Tabú Corintiano (Luis dos Santos / Neilor de Oliveira)
06 - Náutico Capibaribi (Luis dos Santos / Santos Jr.)

11 - Sofro Por Causa Dela (Luis dos Santos / G. da Costa)
12 - Saudade dos Meus Conterrâneos (Luis dos Santos / Apolonio R. Pinheiro)

Music Video | Zimbo Trio

Some minor cosmetic improvements are being implemented with this music video. You should feel the difference, in spite of having all your attention dragged to this awesome film, featuring Zimbo Trio jamming on a Brazilian TV show called Studio Showlivre.

Hope uEnjoy!

Let's Vote! | Feedback on Loronix Preview Center

Hello, good evening! Loronix Preview Center is now stable and I want to ask for your feedback. I found a great poll service that should make it on a great and different way. The folks from Ask 500 People will collect our votes and use the Google map above to place pins on each vote around the globe. It will be very fun to see the results and also pin distribution across the map.

It is only a matter of following this link VOTE, click on the green word VOTE in the upper left corner and send your feedback. Let's make more than 500 hundred Loronixers votes at the great Ask 500 People service. Thanks in advance for your participation.

Hope uEnjoy!

Varios Artistas - Nova Bossa Nova (1972)

I think most of you had already the chance to know Folklore and Bossa Nova do Brazil (1966), with a studio recording of an anthological tour of Bossa Nova artists in Germany, featuring Chico Batera, Dom Salvador, Edu Lobo, J.T. Meirelles, Jorge Arena, Rosinha de Valenca, Rubens Bassini and Sylvia Telles. What I did not know, in spite of seen more than a hundred times this fantastic cover at Caetano Rodrigues Bossa Nova book, was the existance of a second tour with another studio record called Nova Bossa Nova, presented here with a great surprise of mine and probably yours, especially by the unusual mix of performers. Let's see.

This is Nova Bossa Nova (1972), for MPS (Germany), featuring our last challenge answer with Maria Bethania, Paulinho da Viola, Sebastiao Tapajos, Jorge Arena and Pedro "Sorongo" Santos. I'm presenting here the original Germany MPS Records release and I heard about an equivalent Brazilian release by Copacabana, not confirmed information. Nova Bossa Nova should make the day of several segments with lots of percussion by Jorge Arena and Sorongo, instrumental cuts with Sebastiao Tapajos violao with bass, drums and piano of Terra Trio, the singing of Maria Bethania and the always-elegant Samba delivered by Paulinho da Viola. Tracks include:

Conjunto Melodico Norberto Baldauf - Weekend no Rio Nr. 2 (1958)

The Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul is the home of renowned Brazilian artists, such as Manfredo Fest, Primo, Breno Sauer, Os Farroupilhas, Norberto Baldauf, Elis Regina, and many others. This picture is an example, published last year as a challenge; you can see Conjunto Melodico Norberto Baudalf and a very young Elis Regina. Weekend no Rio Nr. 2 is one of the first Norberto Baldauf records in the 12-inch format. Let's see.

This is Conjunto Melodico Norberto Baldauf - Weekend no Rio Nr. 2 (1958), for Odeon, courtesy of the most solid contributor in the Para Dancar style, our friend Mauro R. V. Side A features nine songs with no tracks separation, such like the old Para Dancar records of the early 50's released in the 10-inch format. Challenge | Who are they?

Hello, good evening! Challenge games are back after a couple of weeks on hiatus. Better start with a very easy one, where you will only need to identify the four musicians in this nice picture taken in front of Pao de Acucar in Rio de Janeiro. Meanwhile, I will assist Loronix engineers on their duty, posts today are truly awesome.

Hope uEnjoy!

Doris Monteiro e Lucio Alves - no Projeto Pixinguinha (1978)

It has been a long time since we made an album by Lucio Alves and also by Doris Monteiro, and here we go addressing two issues on a single post, releasing an album with both artists as main performers. I always though this album was a live recording of their participation at Projeto Pixinguinha, however, this is a studio LP, featuring the repertoire of the series of concert made at Projeto Pixinguinha, a Brazilian cultural event that started in 1977 and ended in 1997. During this period, more than three hundred concerts were performed and everything was recorded by Funarte, which is today in the process of transferring everything to digital, almost 5,000 songs. I hope one day these concert recordings be available to public.

This is Doris Monteiro e Lucio - Doris e Lucio no Projeto Pixinguinha (1978), for Odeon. I think I don't need to say more, Doris Monteiro and Lucio Alves are one of the most requested artists by Loronixers and I'm sure this album should make the day of many friends. Tracks include:

Edson Aladim

Dick Farney - Dick Farney em Cancoes para a Noite de Meu Bem (1960)

Hello, good evening! I'm now very happy that Balanco Trio LP has now a better place at Loronix front page. I like that album and Luiz Harding confirmation, my guess on Milton Banana is confirmed. Thanks Luiz and thanks everybody who engage of comment section. Well, the show must go on and there is nothing better than start this Tuesday with one an album that I did not know from one of the artists that I like most, Dick Farney. Let's see.

This is Dick Farney - Cancoes para a Noite de Meu Bem, com Waldemiro Lemke e Sua Orquestra (1960), for Odeon. In a first sight, I thought this was a tribute to Dolores Duran by the reference of Dolores Duran song a Noite do Meu Bem, but Dick Farney plays piano, sings in Portuguese, English and has the accompaniment of an orchestra in charge of Maestro Waldemiro Lemke. I'm surprised with this perhaps unknown Dick Farney album that I never had the chance to hear before. This post is dedicated to the greatest Dick Farney fan on planet Earth and probably the solar system, our great friend cvllos. Tracks include:

01 - A Noite do Meu Bem (Dolores Duran)

Balanco Trio - Ritmo... Bossa... Balanco (1965)

Hello, good evening! I had those kinds of days that you wake up early in the morning and start doing several things with no stops. Meetings outside, phone calls, reports, and all sort of appointments. It seems that 2008 has finally started in Brazil. I feel really tired, but I like these days, they bring lucky and that what happened today when I left a building and found this album for the really affordable price of R$ 3,00, a record that I was searching for almost a year. Let's see.

Toninho Horta - Terra dos Passaros (1979)

Jazz meets Clube da Esquina, this is the best definition I can give to you on another Toninho Horta LP at Loronix. I remember the first one and how people get excited with Toninho Horta - Diamond Land (1979) featuring only instrumental tracks. Terra dos Passaros was released exactly 10 years before Diamond Land and has a blend of instrumental and tracks with lyrics sung by Toninho Horta exactly as his Clube da Esquina peers. This is a major step on my Toninho Horta education, a very important musician on the development of the Brazilian guitar. Let's see.

This is Toninho Horta - Terra dos Passaros (1979), for Odeon, presented here by a vinyl reissue sponsored by MinasCaixa, a financial institution in Minas Gerais. I think I spoke everything at the first paragraph, instead of the jazzy approach of Diamond Land, Terra dos Passaros is MPB with Toninho Horta receiving in the set a constellation of musicians, with highlights to Milton Nascimento, Hugo Fattoruso, Airto Moreira, Nivaldo Ornellas, Wagner Tiso, Raul de Souza, Novelli, Boca Livre and many others. I will try to setup a sample track at Loronix Preview Center, but I think is not necessary, this is a flawless release. Tracks include:

Leal Brito e Seu Conjunto - Noel Rosa Sem Parceiros (1957)

Limited by those hosting issues explained on last post, I had to find alternatives of good music not necessarily made available on big FLAC files. For my surprise, there are several wonderful albums on an old hard drive that I thought it defective and now works perfect. A friend in the very beginning of Loronix sent this album and I do not understand why it was not released earlier. Let's see.

This is Leao Brito e Seu Conjunto - Noel Rosa sem Parceiros (1957), for Sinter. Actually the Brazilian pianist Leal Brito, also knwon as Britinho, has the accompaniment of four different conjuntos, called by Sinter as Conjunto A, B, C and D, each one with a different set-up. The album title, Noel Rosa sem Parceiros, defines the repertoire, featuring twelve Noel Rosa compositions without partnership. If the friend who sent this album is still tuned with Loronix, please drop me a line or use comment section, I want to give credits to this really nice contribution. Tracks include:

Os Bossa Tres, Leny Andrade & Pery Ribeiro - Gemini V en Mexico | Grabado ao Vivo! (1967)

Hello, good evening! The technology I have been putting in place to support Loronix is invisible. Loronix runs at Google Inc. Blogger technology, which is identified by the blogspot.com domain. However, several features runs out of blogger, such like Loronix Find It, a MySQL / PHP database hosted at zecalouro.com domain, videos, CBox and now Loronix Preview Center. These services make Loronix a little bit different from the other websites, and we cannot live without. We are facing outages on these external services this weekend and I have been working hard with my hosting provider to fix it.

I don't have idea on how big is this outage. I think it is only affecting Brazilian or South American pipes to US. If you reach Loronix from other regions or continents, please, let me know if you are facing these problems, so I can report better and have this situation fixed sooner. Thanks for your attention.

This is Os Bossa Tres, Leny Andrade & Pery Ribeiro - Gemini V en Mexico | Grabado ao Vivo! (1967), for Odeon, courtesy of Caetano Rodrigues and supposed to be released on our 2 million hits celebration, but postponed. It is really a mandatory repost Caetano provides us, with upgrades on vinyl transfer and the increasing popular FLAC format. Gemini 5 en Mexico was recorded live and it is a very hard to find album, never released in CD. Luiz Carlos Vinhas from Os Bossa Tres is in charge of arrangements, being also producer. Tracks include:
