Dolores Duran - Convite para Dançar Nr. 2 (1958)

Convite para Dançar Nr. 2 (1958) is one of the last LPs released by the legendary Brazilian singer Dolores Duran. In the next year, she wrote her biggest classic, Noite do Meu Bem and left us prematurely just one month later.

There is nothing more to say, so zecalouro will let you with a YouTube video uploaded by cacouti with Elis Regina and Gal Costa singing together Estrada do Sol (Dolores Duran - Tom Jobim).

Here is the video:

Obviously she doesn´t look very happy on the cover. Maybe it´s because of the moustache-guy with the onion breath staring at her the whole time or the backyard band playing "smoke on the water" for the third time this evening...i think we´ll never know.
Hope she´s feeling better with the tunes she´s singing on this record. I´ll check it out later. Thanx for posting.

"Volare," for godssake. No wonder she looks so unhappy sitting at the table. The moustached guy must have been her producer. Nevertheless, the album is wonderful. I'll stack her version of Academy Award-nominated "An Affair to Remember" against anyone's. In fact, Dolores' version of "Volare" is quite snappy and convincing. 'Tis a tragic shame her career was so short. This album proves her amazing versatility. Thanks for posting it.

I just listened to the 2 Dolores Duran albums back to back. The first makes many promises regarding her talent. The second keeps them. I cannot believe the growth in technique and style in one year. Amazing!

Jörn,

She seems at least to be really bored to be here waiting for the photo set to be ended. I was thinking to say something about this amazing cover. I'm happy that I could resist and wait for you to say everything. :-)

Take Care.
