Gracinha Leporace - Gracinha Leporace (1968)

Gracinha Leporace is a Brazilian female singer noted by her contribution with Sergio Mendes (she is his wife), Bossa Rio and Guinga. This is an obscure late 60's solo album with nice jazzy arrangements by Oscar Castro Neves. Wonderful surprise with songs written by Edu Lôbo, Capinan, Sidney Miller, Fernando Leporace, Carlos Lyra, Ronaldo Boscoli, Guttemberg Guarabyra, Dori Caymmi, Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, among others.

Oscar Castro Neves makes a great contribution with sophisticated arrangements and some use of organ by an unknown player that puts a Walter Wanderley on it.. Track list includes:

01 - Última Batucada
02 - Rancho De Ano Novo
03 - Madrugada
04 - Prece
05 - Mensagem
06 - Canção Da Desesperança
07 - A Saudade Fez Um Sambaa
08 - Senhora, Senhorinha
09 - Sem Saída
10 - Cantiga
11 - Em Tempo
12 - Chega De Saudade

Johnny Talon was my dad. I think he moved back to the US in the late 60's. I was born in 1979 and he died in 1991.
Nice to know that someone in Brazil still remembers him. :-)

Dear Laura,
How good is to read your replay! Belive me, I'm still asking about your dad for long, long years and nobody seems to know about Johnny Talon. Sorry that he is not with us anymore. I saw your dad performing alive a couple of times. He did a lot of TV and radio shows. He was on newspapers articles and magazine covers. Johnny and me shaked hands once! I was then only a kid and Johnny was a very nice guy, a good singer and a beautiful performer. I do have a song you dad wrote 'Japanese Girl' recorded by his friend Albert Pavão. Albert and me became friends since mid 80s. Johnny Talon touched my heart - I'll never forget him.

ZecaLouro o site é DEMAIS. Posso pedir a gentileza de repostar esta reliquia da Gracinha Leporace? O link não está mais funcionando. Obrigado.

O Rapidshare esteve fora do ar por alguns momentos nessa manhã. Rapidshare.de diga-se de passagem.

Já está normalizado.

Abraços, zeca

I'm so happy to hear from you! I miss my dad very much and I've spent about 15 years trying to find his music. I had one tape and someone threw it away out of spite. People don't think sometimes. About 8 months ago I found a record of Fourteen Girls in a Compact Car on Ebay in South America. I bought it right away and it had songs I'd never heard! I'd love to get a hold of more of his stuff. He did music for a bunch of movies including a kid's film when I was 6 (1985) called The Hugga Bunch. I found a copy of that as well. Do you know where I can find more of his music? I ended up follow in his footsteps and writing music. I'm also an audio engineer & teach at an audio engineering school. I guess music is in my blood. Thanks for writing back!
