This nice instrumental LP, Quarteto Arpoador - Bossa no Castelinho (1963) was on waiting list for a long time, since I could not find information about it. Yesterday, with the help of a friend, I could understand that this LP is a reissue of a well-known record from Helio Mendes e Seu Trio Vagalume - Na Bossa.
So, take this record as another LP from Helio Mendes, that you had the chance to get along on a previous post with the record Week-End in Rio. zecalouro really appreciates this cover that shows a photo from the Arpoador beach in Rio de Janeiro with those nice colored umbrellas from the 60's. The music is also great. Quarteto Arpoador is Hélio Mendes (piano), Maurício de Oliveira (guitar), Betinho (drums) e Edílio (bass). Tracks include:
- Mas Que Nada (Jorge Ben "Jorge Benjor")
- Menina Feia (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
- Vagamente (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
- Influencia do Jazz (Carlos Lyra)
- Moça Flor (Durval Ferreira / Luis Fernando Freire)
- Vai de Vez (Roberto Menescal / Luis Fernando Freire)
- O Sapo (Jaime Silva / Neusa Teixeira)
- Bossa na Praia (Geraldo Cunha / Pery Ribeiro)
- Baiãozinho (Eumir Deodato)
- Amor de Nada (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
- Ela É Carioca (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
