Toquinho - O Violao do Toquinho (1966)

Hello, good evening! Here we go on another contribution sent by my mother, strongly recommended by her. She also asked to release it in the beginning of this series and then alternate between Jorge Mello and her contributions. I think it is time to give Loronix control to her. Just kidding, it is a nice idea.

She is a big fan of Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes, with some DVDs that she uses to spin very frequently, but mom said she got a little bit disappointed with this one, just for being an instrumental album, no lyrics and no singing. In the other hand, I’m really amazed with this one. Toquinho is mostly known as a singer and composer, but he is also a great instrumentalist, one of Paulinho Nogueira disciples. By the way, Toquinho has another instrumental only release at Loronix that you should not miss, here. Let’s see.

This is Toquinho – O Violao do Toquinho (1966), for RGE, featuring Toquinho violão accompanied by an unusual formation with drums, flute and organ played by Ely Arcoverde. I wish everybody a very productive and prosperous week. Tracks include:

Personnel

Toquinho
(violao)
Ely Arcoverde
(organ)
Thommas Lee
(flute)
Jose Roberto, Marco Antonio
(drums)

Olá, fugindo do assunto música, seguidamente vejo fotos mostradas de forma invertida, dando entender que o músico é cantonho. Alguém poderia dizer quala a razão disto?

Loronix, I love love love your blog! Could you possibly recommend anything else you've uploaded that is similar to this? I dig instrumental production where the lead (violao in this case) drives the song along and everything else is fairly subtle, just there to accompany. Very relaxing and lovely. Thank you.

i managed to grab this on cd a few years ago on rge classicos, and the name of the album was different - " a bossa do toquinho". The guy in shop warned me that it might be a bit too classical for my tastes. It isn't. It grooves, and the violoa is awesome throughout. Soulful, not just for the guitar aficionados.
Anonymous, if you like this sort of thing maybe Baden Powell would be up your street. Just use the Loronix search, it's all here.

Cheers
