Great!
Thank you,
Zeca,
obrigado para mais um ano de música Brasileira sem fronteira.
Tudo de bom para 2009, e nao para de fazer seu bom trabalho.
Feliz Natal.
hola!
I've found your weblog, Loronix, and I found it really interesting.
I'm keen on brazilian music, and Loronix is a way to explore a non-easy-to-find spectrum of music.
By the way, when I visited Salvador de Bahia I had the chance to meet Roberto Mendez (in person!) and his Rodas de Samba.
Unfortunately, I didn't buy his cds at that time, and since then I couldn't find any of his music in stores nor the internet. There are some 1-minute samples here: http://www.bahia-online.net/launch-traducao.htm and some videos on youtube. But that´s all.
Zecalouro, do you have any records of Roberto Mendes? can you blog them? That will be great.
Thanks and greetings from Argentina,
Luciano
Parabens pelo seu Blog
Bom Natal e Feliz Ano Novo
Um abraço
Loronix, Can I wish you and yours a very happy Christmas, and an equally great 2009 from Ireland....your education in Brazilian music for us mere mortals is emence.
Obrigado !!
Niall
nice blog. very good information.
Thank you.
very good information.
Zeca,
This is one of the best albums I've heard in my whole life. I mean, it's not just a favorite... music is one of the most important aspects in my life and getting to know this album was one of the most spectacular things in my musical life - it was like when I first hear the album "Animals", by Pink Floyd, or Led Zeppelin II. Or even "Ventura" and "4", by Los Hermanos... so it means a lot to me, hehe
The album opens up with Edu and Joyce in a tear dropping song.. not because it's sad but because it's way too beautiful... Negro Negro has a WONDERFUL Toninho Horta guitar (not credited in the post - only violão is) and all songs are wonderful... Toada has poetic and profound lyrics, as has Gingado Dobrado, which is musically fantastic.
And it goes on... Limite das Águas is surprising, Cinco Crianças is rock'n'roll, Segue o Coração is beautiful MPB and Repente is just amazing, truly "nordeste" but wrapped in a complex yet cool atmosphere...
Thanks for posting the album, sorry for writing so much. Getting to know this album meant a lot to me in my life.
Grande abraço
"Rio abaixo, rio acima / meu destino dá no mar. Eu que não sou marinheiro / eu que não sei navegar"
"Quem não encontra o seu chão / faz seu castelo no ar"
Obrigado mesmo.

I know I wrote a lot on my previous comment, but I was listening to this album right now and thought about writing here...
The opening track, "Era Uma Vez Um Caso", with Joyce on a duet with Edu Lobo, is one of the most wonderful, brilliant and beautiful songs I've ever heard in my whole life!
And after becoming breathless and touched with this songs, what do I hear at its end? That amazing vinyl sound, that we can hear between tracks!!! I could not believe it, I literally almost fell on the ground...
That's why Loronix is simply the best website ever!
