This is Avena de Castro & Joao Peixoto Primo - Avena e Primo | Som Ambiente Vol 2 (1975), featuring for the first time at Loronix the sitar player Avena de Castro and the well-known pianist and organist Primo. Avena's sitar sounds like an electric guitar, different from the sound of sitar made popular by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar in the 1960's, which was my expectation before taking Som Ambiente Vol 2 for a first spin. A few Google searches were enough to tell me that Avena de Castro started as a classical musician and later embraced popular music. He is also considered the first and only sitar player in Brazilian popular music. Tracks include:
