Neco - Samba e Violao (1967)

It has been three months since the first Neco LP made available to Loronixers and this one provided by Caetano Rodrigues. I kept an eye during these 90 days on old vinyl stores, auction sites and virtual communities to gather another out of print Neco LP. I'm very happy with this sharing and probably many friends. Thanks also to Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone) for his very gentle comments at the shout box asking for Neco LPs with passion, living far from Brazil in France, this release should be special to Jean Yves. I understand this kind of feeling and Caetano either and that is the magic of our community, the celebration of the music from Brazil.

This is Neco - Samba e Violao (1967), for London. If you got amazed with the earlier released Velvet Bossa Nova, get yourself ready to be paralyzed by this one, a nice violao instrumental album that will make the day of several friends, specially the musicians from Brazil. Paul Desmond - From The Hot Afternoon (1969)

It is amazing the bridge established between Brazil and United States in both directions at the golden age of Bossa Nova in the 60's. Yesterday, we had an album recorded in Brazil by Herbie Mann, today we close the roundtrip showing an LP recorded in the United States featuring Brazilian musicians and repertoire.

This is Paul Desmond - From the Hot Afternoon (1969), for A&M, featuring a repertoire with Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo (guitar) and Airto Moreira (drums). Edu Lobo presents four songs in this album and is accompanied by his wife at that time, Wanda de Sa. Orchestral arrangements are by Don Sebesky. The early Milton Nascimento compositions makes the difference in this album considered by Caetano Rodrigues, as "Muuuuuuito Bom" in that unique way Caetano uses to say when an album is above the average. Special Post | Lucio Alves - A Bossa e Nossa (1960)

Hello, Good Night! This is a special post, a special request of the great Caetano Rodrigues. I'm very happy to address this request with Lucio Alves, a special artist to Caetano, his friends and several Loronixers. Let's hear the story behind this post.

October, 19th, 2006 landmarks the first time Caetano Rodrigues get to known Loronix. Caetano did not reach Loronix by accident; he was referenced by a friend, Mecenas Salles. Caetano and Mecenas have a common friend that I also want to introduce with this post, the Legendary Jorge Cravo also know as Cravinho, one of the greatest vinyl collectors in Brazil. Mecenas, Cravinho and Caetano are enthusiasts of Lucio Alves, having the privilege to have Lucio Alves as their friends when Lucio was here on Earth.

zecalouro is proud of being the connection between Caetano and his friends Mecenas and Cravinho. Mecenas and Cravinho do not have this rare Lucio Alves album in their collection and Caetano had the great idea to send this record using Loronix. Thanks for this opportunity, Caetano and thanks also Mecenas to introduce Caetano to Loronix and Cravinho for providing Bossa Nova fans with a amazing book.

Cravinho is the author of a book, Cacador de Bolachas Perdidas, which I had the opportunity to read a couple of years ago and read again today with the same enthusiasm. Cravinho is the kind of guy that was in contact with several important moments and artists of Brazilian music and his book is a treasure, full of nice stories, including a chapter dedicated to Lucio Alves that I will not tell here to do not spoil your reading. This is Lucio Alves - A Bossa e Nossa (1960), for Philips. Self-explanatory, a missing piece on my discography and also for Caetano friends, not for now one. I'm happy to have delayed this release, this album was sent by the bossanovadreamer a couple of weeks ago and I had that not explainable feeling that I had to save it for later. I was right. Pery Ribeiro - Pery (1965)

The early Pery Ribeiro albums are really incredible. I remember when the first one was posted, Pery Ribeiro - Eu Gosto da Vida (1961), for my surprise it was not included on some serious discographies at the Internet. By that time I could understand how popular was Pery Ribeiro and how fans and collectors all around the world tracks down his earlier works. Each Pery Ribeiro post at Loronix is successful, generating nice discussions.

This is Pery Ribeiro - Pery (1965), for Odeon, featuring orchestra and arrangements by Maestro Lyrio Panicalli. Open and honestly, I had no hope to find this LP, requested by many Loronixers and I was amazed to know that Caetano has it. I'm happy to address all the request made by several friends, understanding now why people urge to hear this album, it is truly amazing. Besides the great arrangements from Maestro Lyrio Panicalli, musicians on the set are not credit, except the last track, Carinhoso, featuring Eumir Deodato (piano), Gabriel (bass), Wilson das Neves (drums), Geraldo Vespar (guitar) and Mauricio Einhorn (harmonica). Herbie Mann - Do The Bossa Nova with Herbie Mann (1962)

I spoke with Caetano about this post, learning several things to make Loronixers informed about this record. This album was recorded in Rio de Janeiro in a time where Bossa Nova hit its peak, assembling the top players of the style, such as: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Dom Um Romao, Sergio Mendes, Baden Powell, among others. We have here an anthological recording, surprisingly out of print, provided by Caetano Rodrigues to Loronixers.

This is Herbie Mann - Do The Bossa Nova with Herbie Mann (1962), for Atlantic USA. Very wise of Herbie Mann to gather his instruments and come down to Rio de Janeiro to record Bossa Nova with the genius of the style. Sambossa 5 - Zero Hora (1966)

Hello, Good Night! Actually we will have an excellent night. The awaited contributions of our great friend Caetano Rodrigues, author of the book Bossa Nova e Outras Bossas and responsible for launching several forgotten Brazilian music LPs from the Bossa Nova age has finally arrived. Breathtaking this time. You will not believe what is scheduled for the forthcoming days at Loronix. I'm speechless. I have the privilege to see all the LPs together on a single day and I'm also very proud of being responsible to share such amazing music with Caetano.

I don't have words to express my gratitude to Caetano Rodrigues for the music that he shares with us, Caetano puts his time and resources available to Loronixers as a work of love, love that he have to the music from Brazil, during a life-time and we should give feedback accordingly. Here is mine, take also the chance to please Caetano with your feedback when hearing this outstanding record, recommended by Caetano at the MD cover at your right and personally today. This is Sambossa 5 - Zero Hora (1966), for RCA Victor, easily, the best Samba Jazz album I have ever heard in my whole life, a really great surprise. Caetano is amazed with Zero Hora, I'm astonished and all Loronixers that has been asking for this LP, such as bossanovadreamer, JimR, Joe Carter and many others should also be paralyzed. I'm not on a good shape today, so I will be straightforward sometimes, Caetano's music is self-explanatory and this is a great advantage. Tracks include:

Sergio Ricardo - Dancante Nr. 1 (1959)

I don't know what to say at this post. In the other hand, I know what I feel when I heard this music, perplexity. I'm not an authority on Sergio Ricardo music and it is natural that my expectation is at least to hear songs with lyrics sung by Sergio Ricardo. Big mistake, this is the first Sergio Ricardo LP and it is (as far as I know) completely different from everything he made on his later works.

This is Sergio Ricardo - Dancante Nr. 1 (1959), for Todamerica, a release provided by the now legendary Mr. E. As I said, this is an inquisitive instrumental album from Sergio Ricardo, ahead of its time, featuring the piano of Sergio Ricardo backed by top-notch musicians. I'm wondering if there is a lost tape of a given Dancante Nr. 2 available. Anyway, I will let you hear and come back for additional considerations in comment section. Thanks Mr. E. for this one.
