Wanda Sa - Softly! (1966)

If you visit Loronix first page from this post until the end of first page you will have a very nice panorama of the high quality Brazilian music with Victor Assis Brasil, Lucio Alves, Toquinho, Sergio Mendes, Jongo Trio, Luiz Bonfa, Roberto Menescal and many others. I'm really happy with the last days. We have a set of albums at this first page that are truly great. In the other hand, if you exercise list the ones that are not represented at this first page you will come to a wonderful conclusion: Brazilian music is really awesome, I have no doubts on it.

This is Wanda Sa - Softly! (1966), for Capital (USA). I think Wanda Sa is the missing piece on this first page and overall Loronix records. Wanda performed with Sergio Mendes, Roberto Menescal, Bossa Tres (who has this album with Wanda Sa and Bossa Tres) and this is the perfect moment to show a Wanda Sa solo album. Susannah McCorkle - Sabia (1990)

Here we go on another Bossa Nova international release provided by Caetano Rodrigues. I don't need to say that Caetano has been taking awesome albums to Loronixers, but this time he is making something very special and unique. Susanna McCorkle is really special, she was an interpreter before embracing a singing career, being fluent on several languages, such as: Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese in addition to English, her mother language.

This is Susannah McCorkle - Sabia (1990), for Concord Jazz, featuring ten Brazilian songs plus Estate, switching between Portuguese, English and Italian. It is amazing how she makes so good on such different languages. You will have a very pleasant album, beautiful and sad, Susannah McCorkle kept hidden a chronic depression during years and career problems lead her to commit suicide in 2001, New York City. Luiz Loy Quinteto - Chico Buarque de Hollanda Instrumental (1967)

This is really amazing, another great instrumental tribute to Chico Buarque de Hollanda. The first, also sponsored by Caetano, is an Aecio Flavio orchestra LP. Now we go again on Chico Buarque instrumental with a Samba Jazz Quintet, not a given combo, a group lead by an artist that was never released at Loronix before. Let's see this next Caetano's surprise.

This is Luiz Loy Quinteto - Chico Buarque Instrumental (1967), for RGE, also known as Luiz Loy Quinteto Interpreta Chico Buarque de Hollanda. It is the kind of record that drives me crazy when talking with Caetano, as follows:

(Caetano) - zeca, do you have Luiz Loy Quinteto - Chico Buarque Instrumental?
(zeca) - Noooooooooo. (big eyes)
(Caetano) (surprised) - Why you don't have this record?
(zeca) (nervous) - Caetano, I don't have and probably you are the only privileged human being in the world who has it.

Then Caetano makes 2 seconds of a deep silent and life goes on as usual. Caetano is really great. Chico Buarque Instrumental features Luiz Loy (piano), Bandeira (bass), Zinho (drums), the legendary Papudinho (piston) and Mazzola (sax tenor). Tracks include:

Hello! Good Night. I'm happy with the idea of showing Loronixers how easy is to make comments. The best ideas are those that come out of the blue. I think that less the 10% of Loronixers could watch the video already, and so far we have comments from friends that never had the chance to write before. This is Carlos Monteiro de Souza e Seu Conjunto - Pra Frente (1968), for Parlophone, featuring Maestro Carlos Monteiro de Souza with no orchestra this time, but accompanied by a combo. Little is know about this LP from the nice Parlophone label with their easy to identify albums with the big P on cover. Caetano will be pleased with this post, although the chance of this record been missed from his great collection is less than 0,5%. Tracks include:

Olá pessoal! Boa noite. Vamos começar hoje de forma diferente, atualizando todos com um importante elemento do Loronix, os comentários. Os comentários estão disponíveis para cada post, desta forma, é possível comentar cada um dos discos ou vídeos do Loronix. Muita gente acredita que os comentários são apenas para os usuários registrados. Isso não é verdade, ele está pronto para ser usado por qualquer um, sem necessidade de fazer registros.

Preparei um vídeo, onde explico passo a passo como realizar os comentários. Ele está disponível abaixo, mas aconselho que vocês cliquem na lente de aumento logo abaixo do vídeo para ter acesso a uma versão ampliada, muito mais eficiente para entender e acompanhar as etapas.

Special Post | How to make comments, a quick guide on video

Hello! Good night. Let's start today with something different, updating our knowledge on making comments, a core element of our community. Comments are extremely necessary for us; they make Loronix more dynamic and updated, giving also feedback to zecalouro. It is the best way to understand if we are making things according with your expectations.

Comments are very simple; you don't need to be a registered user to make them. That's why a video was prepared, such like the previous one made to introduce Caetano's book to Loronixers.

Take a time to watch the video and click at the increase lens to see a bigger version, much easier to understand the steps.

Os Saxsambistas Brasileiros - Saxsambando (1960)

Caetano is great, he sent to us another LP from Os SaxSambistas Brasileiros. We are now close to complete all Os SaxSambistas releases for Plaza, which is as far as I know the only label that made their recordings. However, there is something very disturbing. We know that we are close to finish Os SaxSambistas discographies comparing with we found at the Internet. The question is: in spite of the records already identified, is there a chance of additional albums not listed?

The only answer to this question should come from Loronix community, that's why tomorrow I will be releasing an "educational video" showing how to make comments with no mysteries and complications, pretty easy to make every Loronixer fluent on placing comments on our posts. I'm counting on you. It will be easy, just watch the video and learn the steps, by the way, very easy steps. Stay tuned tomorrow.

Victor Assis Brasil - Desenhos (1966)

Victor Assis Brasil is the best Brazilian jazzman ever, praised internationally by renowned Jazz musicians such like John Coltrane, Phil Woods and many others. Victor has passed very early, with the age of 36, when he was at his peak. Caetano Rodrigues provided this record to Loronixers, which is Victor Assis Brasil debut LP and it is necessary to say it is an unique opportunity, this is a very hard to find album and this music was taken from the master tapes and is provided to us loose less, better than any other vinyl conversions take from other media. Thanks once again Caetano for providing a anthological record in such good quality.

This is Victor Assis Brasil - Desenhos (1966), for Forma, featuring the sax of Victor with the accompaniment of Tenório Júnior (piano), Edson Lobo, with the age of 19 (bass) and Chico Batera (drums). Victor had 19 years old at this recording session. Tracks include:

Music Video | Lucio Alves - A Vizinha do Lado (1960)

Yesterday, I found this nice video at Balaio do Carl Ole, an impossible to miss and frequently updated friend of Loronix. Looking inside, I found also production credits to adesign, which is an affiliate company of bossa-brasileira.blogspot.com. Let's ask the folks of adesign and bossa-brasileira to show us more gems like this one.

This is Lucio Alves - A Vizinha do Lado (1960), an excerpt of a film produced by JB Tanko, the legendary producer from one of the most successful ages of Brazilian movie film. We have a delicious two minutes video with Lucio Alves and some shots dedicated to the great comedian Ze Trindade.

I sent earlier today this film to Caetano Rodrigues, Mecenas and Cravinho, Jorge Cravo. People were also talking about the wonderful book written by Cravinho, O Cacador de Bolachas Perdidas, which I'm placing a purchase link bellow to Submarino. Don't miss Cravinho's book, it is delicious, a lifetime book that you will ready as fresh over and over again.

Marcia - Volume II (1969)

Hello, Good Night! Nothing is stopping me tonight; several things are scheduled for today, amazing Caetano Rodrigues music, wonderful videos by Luiz Harding, challenges and everything that Loronixers uses to have fun by giving their positive feedback. In terms of feedback, this post is in response of several requests, mainly by our friend Flavio Samello, who never got tired of asking for this album.

This is Marcia - Marcia Volume II (1969), for Philips, with Maestro Jose Briamonte as Musical Director. Do not take by mistake this Marcia with the recently released Marcia - In Bossa, they are different and were active at different decades. This Marcia (Marcia Elizabeth Raimundo Barbosa) is well known to Loronixers with some records available, Loronix Find It application can show you the way. Marcia has started her career as crooner of Erlon Chaves Orchestra, being active from the late 60's until today. Tracks include:
