Turma da Pilantragem - O Som da Pilantragem Nr. 2 (1969)

Hello! Good evening! I want to start this Saturday night with a repost dedicated to a very good Loronixer, her name is Candida Pires, from Rio de Janeiro and now living in Lisbon, Portugal. Candida is a big fan of the folks from Turma da Pilantragem and she asked for this repost a long time ago. I took me a lot of time until I find this album and I totally agree with Candida, the first issue was a real shame, scratchy and even annoying. Now we have improved cover scans, better ripping and the FLAC files alternative. I'm delivering the original text with slight modifications on style. Let's see.

This is Turma da Pilantragem - O Som da Pilantragem Nr. 2 (1969), for Polydor, the third LP from this legendary group lead by Nonato Buzar and featuring several artists, such as: Regininha, Dorinha Tapajós, Edinho, Malu, Fernando, Altair, Antonio Adolfo, Durval Ferreira, among many others. Instrumental arrangements are in charge of Antonio Adolfo with vocal arrangements by Severino Filho from Os Cariocas. Dolores Duran - A Noite de Dolores (1960)

Loronix last Dolores Duran album was a compilation released by Copacabana as part of their 30th anniversary celebration featuring Dolores Duran performances with new orchestral arrangements. We have been discussing how controversial is the introduction of new things on top of old and classical recording and I said that it would be better if Copacabana kept the original material instead of adding new elements. It is an amazing coincidence to find this album in the middle of this week, since it is exactly what Copacabana would make on the celebration album released in 1979, original Dolores Duran recordings. Now we have the awaited original recordings by Dolores Duran. Let's see.

This is Dolores Duran - A Noite de Dolores (1960), for Copacabana, featuring original Dolores Duran recordings. This is really worth checking, instead of well-known Dolores Duran compositions, the repertoire brings some obscure songs with Dolores Duran singing lyrics in Portuguese, French and Spanish. I think Copacabana took this amazing cover as the inspiration to the 1979 tribute, using the same flower theme, and this is the only thing in common with both releases. Maestros Mozart Brandao, Lindolpho Gaya, Pachequinho and Norbert Schultz are the arrangers, as indicated on track list. Tracks include:

Pery Ribeiro | Luiz Eca - Pra Tanto Viver (1986)

I agree with cvllos when he says this is one of the top ten albums available at Loronix and deserve a better approach. That's what I'm doing write now, improving each aspect of this fantastic record. FLAC files are now available, hi-res cover scans from front and back cover are being included, the additional info requested last year is now available with complete personnel listing and that sad problem with track 12 - Cancao que Morre no Ar is over. I agree that classics like this one deserves a reposting, however, these albums are really hard to find in an affordable price for my resources. Anyway, it does not matter, I had a great time hearing this album today and I'm sure you will have a high quality listening experience here. Let's see.

This is Pery Ribeiro | Luiz Eca - Pra Tanto Viver (1986), for Continental. Pery Ribeiro and Luiz Eca were really connected to each other at this great session. I'm also sure this is the best Pery Ribeiro album I have heard and probably one of the best Luiz Eca performances on recording. Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto - Dancando com Papai Noel (1959)

Hello! Good Evening! This is the perfect example of a cover artwork that worth the entire album, no matter the music available inside. I have been looking at this cover the whole day and I cannot stop laugh on each new finding, just a couple of examples: 1) Why the guy is fixing the Christmas tree while Papai Noel (Santa Claus) is dancing with his wife?! What is the feeling of the daughter when she looks at her mother dancing with Papai Noel? I think she is astonished and proud of her. And what a weird Papai Noel they found to make this cover, thin, tall and with an unusual reclined position. Anyway, let's see what Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto delivers in terms of Christmas songs.

Gal Costa - Gal Canta Caymmi (1976)

Gal Costa performing Dorival Caymmi repertoire with arrangements by Joao Donato, Perinho Albuquerque and a constellation of top-notch Brazilian musicians. It is a nice introduction that explains everything about this album. I can remember this record when released in 1976; it helped a lot to make Dorival Caymmi music popular for a whole generation. Songs like 03 - Nem Eu and 07 - So Louco, especially this last one, had their definitive version with Gal Costa. Let's see.

Hello, good evening! After a long hiatus, here we go on a record in the "Para Dancar" style, courtesy of Mauro R.V., very good friend of zecalouro and a gifted hunter. This album is the first Brazilian LP released by Columbia in the 12-inch format, as Columbia LPCB 40001. This is history and I think Mauro R.V. did not realize this fact. Let's see.

Baden Powell - E de Lei (1972)

Every Baden Powell album is a very solid listening experience and some - in my humble opinion - are truly masterpieces. E de Lei (1972), follows in the second case, I have no doubt this is one of the nicest Baden Powell albums I have heard so far. It is the last Baden Powell record with his favorite singer, Janine de Valeyne, and perhaps Baden Powell knew it, since he gives a lot of space to Janine de Valeyne very sophisticated vocals. Baden Powell delivers a great performance and I strongly recommend that everybody takes this album as a something really special. Let's see.

Os Poligonais - Os Poligonais (1964)

My mobile carrier made a offer to change my phone for another, no charge, they said I could pick the one I like most inside a limit of price. I did not decline the offer and now I'm the happy owner of a big mobile phone with GPS, Bluethoot, Camera, Video and MP3! Really nice, such like an iPod. So I decided to put some Loronix music inside it and my first choice was this album. When I took it for a first hearing, I decided to make another rip. I like this album. Naturally, this new ripping needs to appear at Loronix first page and I hope you appreciate this new version of this fantastic record. Let's see.

This is Os Poligonais - Os Poligonais (1964), for RCA Victor. Os Poligonais members are not professional musicians; each one has an occupation, as described at personnel listing. I don't know if they became professional musicians later or just made this album and the second and last one for Farroupilha Label. Anyway, I'm not a specialist on Jazz, but I think if every Jazz record has this positive and beautiful atmosphere, I will become a Jazz aficionado very soon. Tracks include:
