Hello, good evening! I had an intense and very busy day this Friday. I got rid of a lot of paper without any remorse. I could also setup my new working environment and made the fist transfer at my new place.

As nothing is perfect, this new disc cannot be shown today. Blame it on my Internet connection, limited to a maximum of 30Kbps upload speed.

Meanwhile, I found an album requested by many Loronix friends featuring an instrumental combo from Minas Gerais state. I'm keeping my original text written in August 2006. Let's see.

Dolores Duran - Dolores Duran Viaja (1955)

Hello, good afternoon! I will try to make two updates today, but if I fail, this album starts an interval of some days with no updates. I will be taking care of my move, finally scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 in the morning.

The change will be made by a specialized company that charges the total hours spent to accomplish the change. For this monitoring, I developed an application that sends from my mobile phone to Loronix dedicated server the GPS coordinates of where I am in intervals of 5 minutes. These coordinates are stored on a mysql database and using Google Maps API, these coordinates are plot in a map, making it possible to watch the move in real time, including the route made to the future place.

Anyway, I would like to send a big THANK YOU to Mr. E. for his understanding of my process and the great help he made putting his professional skills in place to transfer this really rare album to the digital format. Mr. E. is my benchmark on vinyl ripping and cover artwork restoration. The day Mr. E decided to open a music blog, his site will be the KING and the benchmark Loronix will follow. Thanks Mr. E. Let's see.

This is Dolores Duran - Dolores Duran Viaja (1955), for Copacabana, in the 10-inch format, which is the first Dolores Duran LP. Mr. E. said he never had the chance to see this album before, so I'm confident to say this is a really rare release. Dolores Duran follows the concept of singing a repertoire with songs from several countries on different languages, which is something that she excels. Orquestra Copacabana backs Dolores Duran and the arrangements are in charge of Maestro Lindolpho Gaya and Mozart Brandao.

Dolores Duran Viaja has music from Chile, Canada, USA, Austria, Italy, Spain and Brazil, including the first recording of a song with lyrics in Esperanto, 05 - Nigraj Manteloj. Tracks include:

Hello, good evening! Everything went wrong today and this is the reason why three covers are available. Perhaps it is the anticipated effect of the move, scheduled for Tuesday, next week, or perhaps just a coincidence. I had an amazing plan. I started with Elizeth Cardoso - Cancao de Amor (1957), a compilation released by Todamerica featuring Elizeth Cardoso phonograms taken from old 78rpm records. I heard it from the start until the end and liked a lot; the repertoire is awesome and features several Brazilian popular music standards.

Unfortunately, the output I got when transferring was really bad, several scratches and a strange background noise. I had to decline. If someone has this album and sharing spirit, please write me using the comment section or my email.

Recovered from Elizeth Cardoso's trauma, all my attention was turned to another target, a sough after album by Loronix community and LP collectors worldwide, which is Clovis Pereira Ritmos Alucinantes (1957), for the obscure label Repertorio. This is album brings the first Hermeto Pascoal recording as an instrumentalist.

However, I had another problem, the record inside was not Clovis Pereira, but a compilation released by Odeon featuring Aloysio de Oliveira telling the story of high fidelity on side B and various artists on side A. Almost losing my forces, I decided to make it and tell you this long story. Let's see.

Fafa Lemos - Para Ouvir Dancando (1957)

Hello, good evening! It was difficult to decide for an album to be at the first page of Loronix today. All options were very good, solid, but this choice -- and perhaps the next ones -- is very important. I'm moving from my place to another. I'm leaving this apartment, the place I love and the place I'm living since the beginning of Loronix. The date of my move is still uncertain and can happen at any time. Thus, from now on, all albums at the first page should be very meaningful because Loronix will enter on a hiatus of five or more days until I get set on my new place and ready to continue. So, friends, if Loronix is not updated in the forthcoming days, this is the reason, I will be unplugged and in the middle of a very worrying process for anyone who collect LPs. Let's see.

This is Fafa Lemos - Para Ouvir Dancando (1957), for RCA Victor, featuring Fafa Lemos, a legendary Brazilian musician, member of the anthological Trio Surdina with Anibal Augusto Sardinha - Garoto - and Chiquinho do Acordeon. Fafa Lemos LPs are always delicious to hear, and I like this one very much. Fafa Lemos plays violin and delivers his "bossa nova" singing on four tracks. Fafa Lemos is backed by a "conjunto" and the musicians were not credited by RCA Victor. Don't let the "Para Dancar" title cheats you, it is just a marketing approach. Tracks include:

Chico Buarque de Hollanda - Volume 3 (1968)

Hello, good evening! A friend of mine, very connected to Brazilian music scene, with access to virtually all artists, said the only artist that left nervous and anxious when contacting was Chico Buarque. He said this thing a couple of years ago and I did not understand why by that time. Today, with Loronix, this statement came to my mind and his anguish is now clear. Chico Buarque is one of the greatest Brazilian artists in activity, able to move successfully between different artistic manifestations, including the challenging terrain of literature. Above all, Chico Buarque is an artist with respect to his own beliefs, a very intelligent man. His work was long available commercially through the release of all his discography in a box set. This is the reason his music is not represented here like other artists. I am very happy to make this album, the third out three Chico Buarque initial releases for RGE, considered by many his best releases. Let's see.

Antonio Carlos Jobim - Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira (1977)

Hello! This is another surprising chapter of Historia da MPB collection by Abril Cultural. Actually, this is from 1977 Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira, a second and revised edition of the original and first issued in the very beginning of the 1970's. I always thought how would be the chapter dedicated to Antonio Carlos Jobim and it is better than my expectations. This cover, with a very unusual picture of Jobim and the back cover with the Maestro playing flute lying on the roof with the city around justified the wait. I always heard all issues from this collection were easy to find, but I think this is an exception. Let's see.

This is Antonio Carlos Jobim - Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira (1977), for Abril Cultural, featuring highlights of Jobim repertoire performed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and others, such like Joao Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, Stan Getz, Agostinho dos Santos, Dick Farney, Lucio Alves, Sylvia Telles and Elis Regina. This is a great album for those who want to know Jobim music at a glance. There are some important tracks here, such like 02 - Chega de Saudade and 03 - Desafinado, taken from Joao Gilberto debut LP recorded in 1958, featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim with orchestra. This series is really addictive and probably we will have a sequel in the forthcoming weeks. Tracks include:

Nara Leao, Com Acucar, Com Afeto (1980)

Hello! Yesterday, more like a kind of therapy than anything else in this crazy 2009, I made a script that addresses a very old request of Loronix community. It is already available and you probably have seen it. Now we have an option to download individual tracks from a disc, instead of the whole album on a huge zip ball. It is always available as "Individual Tracks" on post closing information (if the size is set to 0,00Mb, don't worry, the robot will fix it). It is an amazing feature, which is gradually being materialized by a robot that works 24hours a day with no complaints. It is beautiful; he is taking files from Rapidshare, opening on our dedicated server, reading its contents, recording all the information on a database and sending everything back to Rapidshare as single tracks.

Some very interesting numbers were collected so far. From a total of 1894 albums available, the robot has finished with 599, making available 5836 tracks for individual hearing. I believe that in the end of the process we will have 20,000 tracks available. These numbers are crazy and they open possibilities for several innovations in the near future. Additionally, images are also being addressed and so far we have 1350 images available. I'm impressed with these figures. If you have any idea to make use and maximize this work, please drop me a line.

I'm talking today. Perhaps Nara Leao is giving a chance. Nara Leao is the most representative Bossa Nova singer and everybody loves her. Let's see.

It is a common mistake to take this one as another Nara Leao release, with the same title and different cover, a commercially available compilation. Luiz Carlos Vinhas & Emilio Santiago - Ao Vivo (1974)

Hello, good evening! Yesterday, we had Sabadabada.com tribute and today this amazing contribution by JIN, Jose Ignacio Neto, which is another Brazilian music hero in cyberspace. In case you don't know who, JIN belongs to the third generation of the Ignacio's family, a family devoted to Brazilian music. His grandfather, the legendary Jose Ignacio, was the man behind the anthological "A Volta" podcast. JIN delivers a contribution that I'm sure you never had the chance to hear before, an unissued session featuring Luiz Carlos Vinhas and Emilio Santiago, recorded live in 1974 by Bill Horn. I will leave now as the show will be hosted by JIN from now one with his own knowledgeable words. JIN, my apologies for taking a long time to make this one. Let's see.

Jose Ignacio Neto says: "One of the key figures amongst global collectors of funky Brazilian bossa over the last 20 years was undoubtedly the leader and pianist Luiz Carlos Vinhas.

A charismatic figure and stalwart of the Rio nightclub scene until his early death a few short years ago, Vinhas sometimes straddled the line between fantastic good taste and total 'cafonice' to use a word from back in the day. An instinctive pianist, I remember seeing him playing in 2000 at the Vinicius Piano Bar in Rio, on a crappy keyboard and being amazed as I watched his small chubby fingers seemingly bounce around the keyboard in the manner of someone pretending to be able to play the piano, and yet out came incredible sounds full of swing and rhythm!

For many, the CBS album from 1968 (produced by Helcio Milito from Tamba Trio) simply called L.C.V - O Som Psicedelico was his best work. A frenetic mixture of pop tunes, bossa, afro cuban funk - and the Chattanooga Choo Choo! His seminal composition on this album Ye-Me-Le is known to millions via the Sergio Mendes version.

After that LP he didn't record much and the 1973 album 'No Flog' on EMI Odeon was a bit of a disappointment - just pot pourris with added cheers and clinking whisky glasses.

But imagine if there was a long lost recording with music on a level with O Som Psicodelico? And imagine if that recording also marked one of the earliest recordings of super soul singer Emilio Santiago?

Back in 1974 trumpeter and studio owner Bill Horne (known to Loronix fans from his many appearances in the 'Guess Who' photo competitions) recorded this session with Vinhas backing Santiago.

For many years the tapes languished on a dusty shelf in Leblon, but some years ago my grandfather Jose Ignacio was given a copy, un-mastered and straight from the tapes but so fantastic that it deserves to see the light of day for all dedicated Vinhas and Emilio fans.

The musicians' names are long forgotten (but some Loronix fans please tell us if it's you playing!) but are 'feras' in their own right.

And if this super rare session wasn't enough, I've included a demo recording of Emilio Santiago that I believe was used to get his recording contract with Durval Ferreira at CID in 1975. Edson Frederico is the pianist here, drummer was probably Ronie Mesquita.

As Zeca would have said back then, Valeu, Bicho!"
