Gal Costa e Caetano Veloso - Domingo (1967)

This is a long time request of many Loronixers, it has gone out of print and it is finally being made available at Loronix. Domingo is both Gal Costa and Caetano Veloso - with his last name spelled on the cover with two Ls - debut LP, recorded before the creation of the Tropicalia movement. This is very important, I file this album as Bossa Nova, instead of Tropicalia. Let's see.

This is Gal e Caetano Velloso - Domingo (1967), for Philips, featuring lovely Caetano Veloso compositions performed together with Gal Costa. I think all these Caetano Veloso tunes - with some additional songs by Gilberto Gil, Edu Lobo and Sidney Miller - are well known for many Loronixers and some are still performed on radios and concerts on regular basis.

Domingo features songs that were later recorded by Joao Gilberto, such as: Avarandado and Coracao Vagabundo, everything arranged by Dori Caymmi, Roberto Menescal and Francis Hime. I thought I would find an average album performed by great artists at the beginning of their career, but Doming is solid, Gal Costa sings beautifully and the underrated Caetano Veloso violao playing shines on each track. I urge Loronixers to feedback this album, considered lost on my radar, but a real treasure. Musicians were not credited. Tracks include:

01 - Coração Vagabundo (Caetano Veloso)
02 - Onde Eu Nasci Passa Um Rio (Caetano Veloso)
03 - Avarandado (Caetano Veloso)
04 - Um Dia (Caetano Veloso)
05 - Domingo (Caetano Veloso)
06 - Nenhuma Dor (Caetano Veloso)
07 - Candeias (Edu Lobo)
08 - Remelexo (Caetano Veloso)
09 - Minha Senhora (Gilberto Gil / Torquato Neto)
10 - Quem Me Dera (Caetano Veloso)
11 - Maria Joana (Sidney Miller)
12 - Zabele (Gilberto Gil / Torquato Neto)
