Hermeto is a unique musician. A composer, improviser and instrumentist who is capable of playing all kinds of instruments and of turning into musical instruments everythings that his hands can hold - from water bottles to pumps, kettles and ... pigs!His official LPs and CDs show only a small fraction of his art, more contained and less spontaneous, although always brilliant and provocative. It is in the live performances that he really shines, mixing improvisation with a continuous reharmonization of the themes he plays, and letting go the creativity of the fantastic musicians that accompany him.
This is Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo - Viersen Jazz Festival, Germany (1994). zecalouro has not been able to identify who plays with Hermeto in this jazzy presentation. But it is a savory dish to be listened and admired by Loronix friends.
More will come, since zecalouro special agents are gathering a long series of live performances by Hermeto - who, by the way, used to urge the audiences to record him and spread the tapes, in an attempt to overcome the indifference of recording companies to his music - and that what Loronix is doing.
