Zezinho e Seu Som Balanco - Rio... Suave e a Noite (195?)

Let's continue the day with the type of released that I like most, the obscure release. This is a Mr. X. contribution, Zezinho e Seu Som Balanco - Rio... Suave e a Noite (195?), for Cartaz. I've been searching for the release date of this album for weeks; my best guess is the late 50's with some chance to early 60's.

I don't know if Zezinho, Jose Baptista da Silva Jr., is a Maestro, but he is in charge of arrangements and piano with the accompaniment of Lula (piston), Drausio (trombone), Schitinie (sax), Jurandir (drums), Cacau (guitar), Gerson (bass) and Chacal, Turco and Nascimento (percussion). I'm also betting all my five dollars that Turco is in fact the legendary drummer Turquinho. Tracks include:

01 - Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinícius de Moraes)
02 - P'ra que chorar (Baden Powell / Vinícius de Moraes)
03 - Cha cha cha de las secretarias (Pepe Ruiz)
04 - Apache (John Loudermilk)
05 - Diz que fui por aí (Zé Ketti)
06 - Breakfast at Tiffany's (Henry Mancini)
07 - Garôta de Ipanema (Vinícius de Moraes / Tom Jobim)
08 - Rio (Roberto menescal - Ronaldo Boscoli)
09 - Quiz´s, quizás, quizás (Osvaldo Farres)
10 - Suave é a noite "Tender is the night" (Webster / Fain)
11 - Papouche (Shorty Rogers)
12 - Perfidia (Albert Dominguez)

Mr. Zeca:

I think we can figure out a date for this record by finding out when the Baden Powell songs were composed. I'll check with my friend in Germany who runs the Baden Powell site. Offhand, without checking, I beleive Consolacao and Pra Que Chorar were composed in the early 60s so this record wouldn't have been made in the late 50s. I'll check and get back to you.

Well,

Another bird gave me the key to solve one more mystery, Arara Azul.

This is the key: http://tinyurl.com/ynh3gc

This is 1969. Weird. Really looks like a LP from the early 60's.

Thanks for supporting.

Cheers, zeca

Wow! Another amazing cover. Moreover, there is one of my favs "cha-cha-chá": "El cha-cha-chá de las secretarias", and some other versions of Spanish songs: "Perfidia" and "Quizás, quizás, quizás" (Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps). Looking forward to listening the Brazilian versions of these classic songs.

Thanks Mr. X and, of course, zecalouro.

Garota da Ipanema is also composed in 1962, so the earliest date of the record must be 1963, because the first versions are by Pery Ribeiro, Claudette Soares and Tamba Trio.

Nearly the same line-up of musicians are also on Zezinhos`s 1965 album.
