Elizeth Cardoso - Naturalmente (1959) with Joao Gilberto

This is a required repost, not for the music, which is the same from the first release, but for the new and complete personnel listing. Edson Mendes was the first to notice that the previous version did not have the original cover and the *essential* information was missing: Joao Gilberto is on this record as a sideman, playing acoustic guitar, something that is a surprise for many. Stay with personnel listing and the improved cover provided by Edson Mendes.

Original post

There is a group of a few selected artists that makes me fell disturbed if they are not release for more than two of three weeks. This Brazilian Diva is one of those, Elizeth Cardoso releases were very important to bring a bigger audience to Loronix at the beginning. The legendary Cancao do Amor Demais LP was released in the second or third week of Loronix and made history, actually, it is part of history.

Let's visit again Elizeth Cardoso, with a release that I like most, the earlier ones. This is Elizeth Cardoso - Naturalmente (1959), for Copacabana, with orchestral arrangements of Severino Filho from Os Cariocas. The repertorie is based on classic samba tunes from Ary Barroso, Tito Madi, Marilia Batista, Antonio Maria and others. Self-explanatory release with Elizeth Cardoso on her peak, doing what she wants with her voice. Tracks include:

01 - É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
02 - Suas Mãos (Antônio Maria / Pernambuco)
03 - Olhe-me Diga-me (Tito Madi)
04 - Praça Sete (Marília Batista / Sebastião Fonseca)
05 - Onde Estará Meu Amor (Lina Pesce)
06 - Sozinha (Geraldo Mendonça / Antônio Carlos de Souza e Silva)
07 - Na Cadência do Samba (Luis Bandeira)
08 - Jogada Pelo Mundo (Ary Barroso)
09 - Você Voltou (Nelson Souto / Antônio Carlos de Souza e Silva)
10 - Pedestal (Marília Batista)
11 - Fui Procurar Distração (Tito Madi)
12 - E Nada Mais (César Siqueira / Maria Rita)

Perhaps I am going to be called "heretic", but I do prefer the versions of "Chega de Saudade" and "É Luxo Só" that João Gilberto made in his 1958 LP, better than those of Elizete Cardoso in "Canção do Amor Demais" and "Naturalmente" LPs.

She had a quite great voice, but the "feeling" in João is superb, in spite of having a simpler orchestral support an a more limited voice than Elizete.

What do you think, Loronixers? Maybe this is a matter for the Loronix forum!

Obrigado!

Alberto, apesar de novo, esse disco ainda não foi atingido pela onda de reconstrução. Aguarde que a hora dele vai chegar. A reativação dos links está seguindo mais rapido que a minha melhor estimativa.

Abraços, zeca

Nice recording, thank you! Too bad the first song "É Luxo Só" cuts off in the middle... Any idea why that is? It would be great to have a complete version of it!! :-)

Thank you for all these great classics!!
